Here's the Dumbest Protester Move of the Week: Activist + Shield + Cop Has Bad Ending

There have been a lot of dumb moments from the radical activists with the campus encampment movement and we've covered a lot of them. It now seems like we're at the "FAFO" stage of this effort: where even in leftist enclaves like Portland and Washington, D.C., police were finally forced to step in and do something.

I wrote about how the police finally cleared out the George Washington University encampment despite the activists putting the university officials on a mock trial last week and calling for beheadings and the "gallows" and defacing the statue of George Washington, among other incidents. They hung out signs including "Long Live the Student Intifada" and "Gaza lights the spark that will set the empire ablaze." The president of the university had been begging for help but the police had refused until Wednesday. It was perhaps not a coincidence since Wednesday, Mayor Muriel Bowser and the chief of police were supposed to testify before the House Oversight Committee about the situation. They have a lot of explaining to do. Police arrested multiple students for assault and many for unlawful entry.

When even Portland Police are forced into action, you know people have really had enough. I wrote last Thursday about how the police had to move in to clear out the disgusting situation there. The radicals had seized the library and trashed it, spreading paint and graffiti everywhere and smashing glass cases. Even valuable book/comic collections that were in the library are now reportedly missing. I wrote then about how many of the activists just ran out the front door, although the police did capture some of them.

But the dumbest move of the week has to be this guy who was one of the guys who ran out the front door. Rather than running off in the opposite direction as many of them did, this guy thought it was a good idea to charge right at a cop with his garbage can shield. He found out that his garbage can shield was exactly that — garbage — against this Portland police officer.

Here it is from another angle with fun bonus comment.

You get to hear the whining and the screaming for the activist supporters, "Let him go!"

"This is how you want to spend your day?" one of their adherents cries.

Looks like, given the action, that's a "yes" to that question. Over about two days, about 30 were arrested.

Oh, and the icing on the cake? While Portland is a haven for radical activists and the Multnomah County District Attorney Mike Schmidt Is known for having given a lot of people a pass in the past, he said that he expects felony charges to be filed including burglary and criminal mischief, along with other possible misdemeanors in this case.

Thinking this guy may now be regretting his choices here.
