EDITOR OF REDSTATE
Morning Briefing for July 2, 2010
the Morning Briefing every morning at no charge.
NOTE: We’re taking Monday off. Have a great Independence Day.
Multiple sources tell me the National Rifle Association is planning to endorse liberal Harry Reid against pro-gun champion Sharron Angle.
Two weeks ago, I told you about the carveout the NRA received in exchange for their support for the DISCLOSE ACT deal.
Then this week, RedState broke the story of the “gag order” the NRA issued to members of its Board on the Kagan nomination.
Now, I’m getting credible reports that the NRA is leaning toward endorsing Harry Reid, even though the NRA is finally saying it will score a vote on Kagan — something that was not a sure thing.
I’m getting a lot of emails from people saying the NRA has not endorsed Harry Reid in Nevada.
As I said in the original post: no, the NRA has not endorsed Harry Reid. But they are planning to unless we bring pressure to bear on them.
So Greenberg Quinlan Rosner did another generic ballot for Democracy Corps, as Democrats try to find messages that will stem the Republican tide.
But how are things looking now, and what does the Swingometer say about it?
This poll of registered voters, likely voters, and “Drop-Off voters” (2008 voters not likely this time around) still doesn’t look good for Democrats.
Jane Norton gave the Colorado Statesman a very eye opening interview.
First, she walked back some of the attacks her campaign has been making on Ken Buck.
Second, she again couldn’t remember key details to questions and had to rely on Cinamon, though not by name this time.
Third, when asked who she wanted as a mentor in the United States Senate, Jane Norton said she wanted a pro-abortion, tax and spend Senator who doesn’t want us to try to repeal Obamacare as her mentor.
That’s right — Jane Norton wants Lisa Murkowski to be her mentor.
I haven’t put up a post recently about the Gathering, but I certainly hope you will attend.
September 17 to September 19, 2010 we’ll be in Austin, TX rubbing in the noses of the hippies our support for Arizona.
That Friday night we’re planning a pretty impressive surprise for both the attendees and a particular person who must remain nameless because well . . . the surprise is for him and for you guys too.
On Saturday, we’re building in lots of time to meet and hang out with your fellow RedState members, you’ll hear from some of the candidates we’ve been supporting and, as with all of our Gatherings, the candidates are paying their own way and agreeing to spend time with you because this is truly about you guys, not the politicians.
One thing we are going to do a bit differently this year is have an American Majority training session. I have become a huge, huge fan of American Majority and they have the potential to make us an even bigger threat to the left. The training is stellar.
But we don’t want this to be too much work. After all, it is Austin and we should have fun too.
