FRONT PAGE CONTRIBUTOR

The Neil Barack Armstrong Obama OfA Memorial page.

I am embarrassed to admit that it took me a minute to figure out what was wrong with this (‘this’ being a screenshot from Obama for America’s campaign site):

(Link, if it doesn’t load)

After all, the sentiment is not objectionable – except of course, for the minor detail that you cannot believe any word of praise for space exploration that comes from an American liberal. Those people HATED space exploration, largely because the money ‘needed to be spent right here on Earth*.’ But let us put that old bitterness aside, for the moment: I have something new to object to. Simply put: why is it that we cannot even have Barack Obama offer condolences for one of our most symbolic American icons without turning it into it being all about Barack Obama? – Because it’s obvious that that’s what happened. I simply have just gotten far to accustomed to the current President trying to leech off of other people’s glory.

Well. Let me just make this clear: President Obama? About the Apollo Program? …Yeah.

YOU DIDN’T BUILD THAT.

Maybe Obama can share with the American people the thrill of watching the Apollo moon landing on Indonesian television.
In between his mother denouncing the United States and saying Americans were not her people.

Oh…and I tried to contact all of you…and I can’t write anything on the page and I am not banned.

This is one thing that really irritates me about the left and their contentions that republicans are luddites. When it comes to science funding, unless it’s about global warming, they kill the program.

Remember Space station freedom? The democratic congress wouldn’t approve funding.

The Superconducting Super Collider (It would have found the Higgs boson ten years ago). First act of the Clinton administration was to kill it.

Aries project: (Bushes plan to go to the moon and on to Mars). One of Obama’s first acts was to kill it.

    So who are the luddites?

Moe, a part of the photograph’s sub-text that I have to wonder about:

…exploring the unknown–including those who are ensuring that we reach higher and go further in space.

The “those who are ensuring” are no longer a part of Obama’s “lasting legacy” of bigger government. They are private entrepreneurs who DID build that–and now sell their services to the government.

Am I seeing what I think I’m seeing? Is this a photograph in silhouette of The One, engaged in a game of pocket pool, with his back to the camera gazing at the moon that is, somehow, being passed off as a ‘Tribute’ or ‘Memorial’ to Neil Armstrong? Surely this is a publishing or printing error. They got the photos mixed up.

Then again, look at the symbolism in this photo. The Prez with his back to the American people, standing on a helo pad somewhere waiting to fly off to some fund raiser, gazing at the moon as if seeking yet more lunatic inspiration with which to confuse and obfuscate the voters and obscure the consequences and ‘accomplishments’ of his nearly 4 miserable years in office.
