FRONT PAGE CONTRIBUTOR

And so the 2012 Republican convention ends.

Good closing speeches – especially Romney’s – but this is the important thing that you need to take away from it:

Eight billion, five hundred and thirty nine million, five hundred and twenty six thousand, three hundred and thirty three dollars and seven cents.  That’s how much debt the country racked up since the convention started.

This. Must. Stop.

Moe, I noticed that tag line “from convention start.” Too bad the cameras didn’t zoom in on that a little more often, although I doubt the MSM even noticed it at all. On second thought, no doubt they ignored it on purpose.

I didn’t realize until tonight how absolutely deranged the left was. I was flipping channels for talking heads during commercials, even to MSNBC. They had their typically balanced panels, with Rachel “smartest person in the world” Maddow saying after every speech that she was SHOCKED! at how poor it was, Lawrence O’Donnell saying how empty it was, Rev Al doing his shtick, Chris Matthews finding racism and sexism everywhere, Ed Schultz being just a complete lunatic, etc.

For the most part, they were reciting scripts they had written before the convention began, but Crazy Eddie proved me wrong on that tonight when he said that the Romney line about when you need something big done you call on an America was – get this – a shout-out to the birthers that he’s one of them. I swear I’m not making this up – heck I couldn’t have dreamed up something this twisted no matter how much tequila I consumed.

These people need some serious medical help.

http://evilbloggerlady.blogspot.com/2012/08/mitt-romney-speech-at-republican.html Great intros by Rubio and Eastwood, but who knew the highlight of the night would be Michael Moore?

This was Mitt Romney’s night. But I was contacted by lefty friends just after the Rubio speech. They asked who is that guy introducing Romney? I replied, he will be President someday.

And we also have Paul Ryan. We have deep benches. They have Debbie Wasserman Schultz and Joe Biden.

  • emptybucket

Ha Ha, what an incredible understatement. They aren’t even capable of Trying to get it. It’s 1 in the morning and we’re sitting here in a solid blue state wondering what in heck can we do to get Romney/Ryan into the WH. Time to write another check from our budget. Things are tight but it is worth it to keep giving to R/R.

  • emptybucket

you and mr emptybucket agree whole heartedly and I’ve come to think Rubio will get to the oval office someday as well. He is articulate, of the people and willing to work hard. Ah, would you mind explaining the Michael Moore comment, I think I missed something???

And what a convention it was- simply incredible with so many adept and diverse speakers! For all the $$ spent on the debt clock, I don’t recall seeing it during speeches, mostly watched on C-Span. Poor investment? Romney & Ryan rocked and it was some of the best and uplifting TV I’ve watched in a long time! We Will Win!
And now that the RS conversion is over, I’m getting dizzy reading the comments below that I just read in another diary. I see not much has changed in the last 3 days since I took a vacation from RS…still a mess here, try hard as they may. Sad.

  • PowerToThePeople

So very true and well said. Where two are gathered……….even if the gathering is simply two or more praying for the same thing.

On a side note, wish RedState would either end the up and down votes or make it to where you can tell who voted. Your comment had nothing that deserved a negative vote so I can only assume that a jackass, a coward, a troll, or a loser ( or maybe a bit of all) gave the negative vote on your comment. Cowardly voting done by cowards, makes my stomach sick.

  • tngal

Maybe an empty suit hung from a pole would have served as a better prop for Eastwood. While the empty chair was odd, it didn’t distract too much from his speech. What little I saw of the clock over the week was ineffective. You could only see it for a second or two before cameras honed onto something else. Can’t remember too many speakers pointing at it or reminding us of it. I think I remember one acknowledging it. But I didn’t see all the speakers, so….

  • fredflintlock

You’re not the only one who noticed, Power. I think they started showing up yesterday. No fool proofing that I can think of. While legitimate ‘not like’ votes are tabulated, I have started to think of the like/don’t like results like most voter polls. Democrats are oversampled to attain the desired results.

PTTP, the kos kids openly brag about how they troll this site. I’m with you on the need for a rating ID. If you are going to troll, we need to be able to find and eradicate you PRONTO.

Wow, great timing. If it is bad news, it will be a wicked prick of Obama’s balloon!

  • funwithknives

Now ‘there’ is a smile that is never going away. ‘Pop’ one for me if/when you tag another.
…or just do it for Mom and Country. That’ll work just as well.

  • funwithknives

It might have even been your suggestion {Use C-Span} that made me do it, but it was much more enjoyable ,not listening to all The Blather from The Media Nomenklatura.
Fox included, and not one commercial. What A Concept.
DNC to be likewise. but shorter durations. Biden, for laughs.
Clinton, to see if he wings it.
Carter, for nostalgia, and much smirking.
Alchohol will be required. Locked and Loaded.
Suggestions ?? for keywords to “prompt downing”?
Your’s, dear readers, might be funnier.Or more inducing, for libations.

  • Melody Warbington

Great minds, tngal. I told my husband an empty suit would have been better.

one warning only. This is not permissible conduct. Do it again and you are gone.

I remember how the Democrats were bragging about their “deep bench” when The Obama was picking his running mate in 2008. And then he picked….well you know the rest.
