    Thank you for this.

  • Brian Simpson

I’m really enjoying seeing Romney’s friend speak about the character of the President. I really hope they use more of this leading up to the election in November. This will really help to show that he really is a terrific human being.

“You can either help the politically powerful unions or you can help the kids.” – Jeb Bush

  • runner12

I disagree with the Mormon theology. But as I am listening to the speeches talking about his involvement in his church, I wonder if President Obama ever showed that much commitment to his. I am not trying to denigrate Obama’s faith in any way. I am just saying that I cannot imagine that Obama helped take down and set up chairs, visit people in the hospital, organize meals for people, etc.

  • commonsenseobserver

    Touching. Just touching.

  • tnfriendofcoal101368

Tom Stemberg – “They just don’t get it!” and Joe Biden can’t quit talking…never were truer words ever spoken

  • tnfriendofcoal101368

Michelle Davis has earned every dime, the Romney campaign is paying her. This is exactly the messaging on Bain Capital.

  • runner12

    Exactly.

  • runner12

I must say, it took some guts for the Romney campaign to trot out Bain like that and change the narrative the Left-wing media has been spinning. Very Breitbart-like. I am impressed.

  • runner12

It took courage for those Olympians to get on that stage. You know the nasty Left is going target them for being a Conservative and/or members of the GOP.

  • Xasteius

I guess they listened to Moe Lane’s advice (rather Sean Connery’s): http://youtu.be/xPZ6eaL3S2E

  • vangoghssister

    tee hee hee

  • chbroussard

    I LOVE Clint Eastwood!!

  • retrocon87

that was the weirdest thing i’ve ever seen in my life……………..

  • runner12

Okay, Eastwood was hilarious. Total win.

  • RedRedhead

I love Marco Rubio. He gets straight to the point.

  • tnfriendofcoal101368

That was the toughest interview Obama has gotten in 4 years, sadly enough.

  • runner12

I am excited for Romney/Ryan this go around, mainly because of Ryan. But I must admit that President Rubio has a nice ring to it in 2016 or 2020. What a phenomonel speech. One of the best Conservative leaders and communicators in the country.

  • michael_j_lambert

Okay, I came in most of the way through Rubio’s speech and wasn’t sure who it was.

  • eugenio

Are these libtards that keep interrupting Mitt? Doesn’t seem to phase him. He’s just hitting his stride.

  • tnfriendofcoal101368

“I wish Barack Obama had succeeded because I wanted America to succeed.” – Mitt Romney

  • runner12

Not sure what your point is. Did you not like the speech? Not know who Rubio is?

  • eugenio

Keep talking up your business acumen, Mitt. You have every right to be proud.

  • Jack_Savage

The trouble is, Barack Obama DID succeed. He got everything he wanted with one party rule. Too bad it was exactly opposite of what us non-cronies needed.

  • tnfriendofcoal101368

Romney just gave the best speech of his life after Marco Rubio gave the best speech of a generation….

  • michael_j_lambert

“President Obama promised to slow the rise of the oceans…and to heal the planet. My promise is to help you and your families”. I hope they make an ad out of that.

  • retrocon87

Threatening Putin was a nice touch…

  • runner12

It was tough for me to get the overall feel of the speech due to some buffering issues with the live feed at the beginning. But from what I saw it was a good, solid speech. It was positive and I think it struck the right tone. It was not as good as Ryan’s, IMHO. I would also have liked to hear more about limiting the size and scope of government. But overall, I think Romney suceeded with his speech.

  • http://rightwingbuckeye.wordpress.com/ Right-Wing Buckeye

I think the whole RNC was a huge success. Our party is unified and ready to take it to Obama. I’m pretty sure we will see a nice bump in the polls early next week.

  • tnfriendofcoal101368

Not only that but the incredulous look on Romney’s face; really he should do that more often because he is very good at it and it is more natural for him. It was exactly the same tactic,he used on George Stephie about contraception.

  • runner12

    So true, especially about Rubio.

  • eugenio

I was very impressed with the speech. I don’t think it could have ever lived up to Ryan’s; he is such a natural. But Mitt did not disappoint. He was very passionate when he talked about the beauty of free enterprise and really ended it with a great send off.

Akin already tied again with McCaskill. Remember Cockstradamus!

  • runner12

I liked the overall tone. It was very positive and pro-American exceptionalism. I was a little disapointed that little mention was made of the Tea Party. If it were not for them and those of us who support them, the GOP would not have a prayer. But many of the TP ideas and themes were present throughout the convention. So that is a win for the TP.

I liked the weaving of the personal narratives of hard work and success into the principles and ideas of Conservatism. It was so nostalgic. It reminded me of the America that I have read about in the history books and the principles on which this country was founded.

  • evilbloggerlady

Here is another film maker’s comment you might have missed!

  • runner12

I still think he should have gotten out. But the fact that he is tied with McCaskill after making those assenine comments does not bode well for Obama. Looks like your predictions were right on. So, who are your predicting to win the NC in college football this year? Since you are on a roll and all……:)

  • michael_j_lambert

I had no clue who Rubio was, much to my shame. The speech, or rather the part I heard, was boss and awesome.

  • kentucky

Was Eastwood there just so Mitt could follow that mess? What was the point of that? Oh well. He’s still cool, I guess.

  • tnfriendofcoal101368

True…when you’re right, you’re right…Barack Obama succeeded in meeting his goals…it’s just too bad that success will break the rest of us…

  • runner12

Gotcha. Rubio is a great Senator from FL. Fiscal, social, and limited government Conservative. Great personal story. He will most likely be the POTUS someday.

  • Melody Warbington

Eastwood was funny, while making great points. The empty chair was truly symbolic. Joe Biden is just a big grin with a body behind it was a great line, as was Biden represents the intellectual side of the DNC. Rubio was terrific, but I’m really glad he wasn’t the VP pick. He just looks too young. He’s the future.

I would rather have heard more of the personal stories from those who know Mitt instead of the talking heads, but those that got air time were touching. My husband said those gave him a whole new perspective on Mitt. I agree.

I thought Mitt’s speech was a grand slam home run, but it’s pretty easy
for me to get caught up in the emotion of talking about America. One of his best lines was the one about how wrong it is if the best feeling you have about voting for Obama was on the night you voted for him.

  • commonsenseobserver

Best speakers were Romney, Rubio, and his friends and colleagues. Romney is a man of both character and competence.
Clint was okay, though a distraction. The Romney video should have been shown after that.
It was Newt and Callista who disappointed.

  • proudmarinemom

This an EXCELLENT comment by Romney. This strategy gives his opponent a chance to bow out with a modicum of grace. It shows a confidence and determination on Romney’s part. We all know that Obama has, in fact, succeeded in his goal to weaken the United States of America, but why put him on the defensive about it? Well played, Mitt Romney!

  • proudmarinemom

Seriously? Was the man’s subtle humor too subtle for you? He was awesome. Eastwood hit a grand slam home run and his line about “you just gotta let ‘em go” will be the one that resonates. Even in Kalifornia. Please knock off the buzz kill. So tired of people raining on a good parade.

  • garfieldjl

I kinda expected him to be tied again, considering that a pro-life group has thrown its hat into the ring, with ads featuring survivors of botched abortions.
A person throwing a baby into a garbage can to die isn’t something that sits well with the American people. Akins stupid comments is something that can be forgiven, when his opponents are so pro-abortion that they think it is okay to kill a baby whom is already outside of the mother’s womb.

  • runner12

He was good. But I wondered if that slot was originally for Gov. Jindhal. I would have loved to hear him speak. But he is being a true leader by going to help his state that is being deluged with Hurricane Isaac.

  • garfieldjl

@redstate-cc0991344c3d760ae42259064406bae1:disqus I agree, problem is Mitt isn’t one whom goes right for the jugular from a figurative standpoint. Newt Gingrich, Herman Cain, or Rick Perry would have done a better job at that. Romney is who we’re stuck with however, and at least this time Obama has a record.
Let’s all be realistic here, if John McCain was running with Sarah Palin as his running mate this time around, McCain would win by a landslide.
    1. McCain is ticked about the gutting of National Defense.
    2. Obama has a record
    3. McCain knows that Obama’s word is worthless.
Remember McCain was forced into being stuck with public funding, Obama had Soros and all those union donations, he had the 10,000 press secretaries posing as legitimate media, etc.
The reason Obama won last time probably had much to do with the general public not realizing just how dishonest the mainstream media was.
I talked to someone I know whom was a Hillary supporter in 2008 (he’s a nice guy just has been wrong politically), he’s been watching the Republican Convention and he’s voting Romney this time around cause he is fed up and felt he was misled in 2008, I told him welcome to the Republican Party.

  • tnfriendofcoal101368

    MSNBC criticism:
Madcow – Eastwood bad, my God Eastwood, that was the strange that Eastwood Come On, Rachel – you’re better than this, Olbermann would have found more fire in his belly.

Reverend Al: I can’t believe he stood up to Putin Don’t try to make sense of this, it’s Reverend Al, it’s not supposed to make sense

Ed Schultz…they are calling Obama an empty suit – it’s disrespectful no Eddie – it’s correct

Chris Hayes – uh nothing He was about to say something stupid and embarassing, I know it; Madcow knew it so she just cut him off

Steve Schmidt – using Eastwood was irresponsible. Criticizing Putin will cause Romney, Colin Powell endorsement. Losing the Powell endorsement caused us the election. First on Eastwood, so sayeth the man who ran the most inept campaign for President since McGovern. The remark (on Powell) is another of Schmidt’s pathetic attempts to not have to look in the mirror. Well maybe he has moved on from it was Palin’s fault

Next they were throwing it to Chris Matthews. Mrs tnfriend has banned me from watching Chris Matthews as she knows something is liable to get broken. I am sure he called Eastwood a racist; Romney’s rose story was racist (it doesn’t have to be logical – it’s Chris Tingles),

  • tnfriendofcoal101368

“Under Barack Obama, the only change is hope is hard to find” – Marco Rubio

  • Melody Warbington

Thanks for that analysis from the exploding heads, tnfriend. I have BS-NBC blocked at my house. We unblocked it temporarily the night Walker won the recall. I’m glad you watched it so I didn’t have to. LOL! Loved that Putin line, and I imagine Eastwood doesn’t much care what anyone thinks about him, especially those self-absorbed know it all’s.

  • Melody Warbington

Obama promised to slow the ocean tides and heal the planet. I promise to help you and your family. Mitt Romney

Maybe not word for word, but close enough. That line deserved a thousand redstate 5′s. About the highest praise I can give.

  • evilbloggerlady

http://evilbloggerlady.blogspot.com/2012/08/mitt-romney-speech-at-republican.html Great intros by Rubio and Eastwood, but who knew the highlight of the night would be Michael Moore?

  • tnfriendofcoal101368

I missed that one I can only stand Big Union Eddie in small doses

  • norris

This convention defines the contrast between Romney and Obama. One has a lifetime of good deeds, the other a doper who never went to class in high school one day wakes up and goes to an ivy league school . He didn’t do it on his own someone else took the tests and wrote the papers. The most extreme example of affirmative action the world has ever seen.
