FRONT PAGE CONTRIBUTOR

Actually, ‘Made in the USA’ is *four* words, Mr. President.

Or possibly six*: either way, apparently whatever the heck it is that Joe “a three letter word: ‘Jobs.’ J-O-B-S”) Biden has is catching.

“…making products that we sell around the world, marked with three proud words: made in the U.S.A.”

Also: what’s with the hunchback?

The President’s a bit young for hyperkyphosis, surely.

*This is actually a question that gets more complicated, the more that you look at it. Is USA an acronym, an abbreviation, or its own word? Is ‘USA’ a word the way that, say, ‘NASA’ (note the different pronounciation styles there)?

    It’s an acronym.

Personally I must worry, it’s my job. I am the one that enters “Made in USA” when it is printed on a container. Most all printed this way use a stream of ink broken in to dots by a vibrating crystal and deflected in to characters by high voltage, look closely at the bottom of your soda can and you can see the dots. You may not think three or more characters is that much but thanks to VOC regulations, the price difference could be one more job in a small business that is barely hanging on. I also have many other worries on this and they have nothing to do with how politically big or small they are, however they have a large economic impact in these times. I know the left will never understand us business voters but I have hopes the right would at least listen and understand.

I am losing interest in a website who is interested in idiots like this.

U.S.A. is an abbreviation…an acronym is a word formed by the first letters of other words and stands in place of them. The difference is that an acronym is pronounced like a word (NASA) and not by the individual letters (FBI) We don’t say “Feebee” when referring to the Federal Bureau of Investigations, and we don’t say “OOSA” when referring to the United States of America. (I do refer to the United Parcel Service as “oops” but that’s because I used to work there.)

Some people think that “Ship High In Transit” formed an acronym that became popular profane term, but it’s really just a myth.
Now, imagine the press if Romney had said what the President said…isn’t he supposed to be a Harvard-Educated master Speechifyer? The mental fog that seems to permeate the brains of the Obama faithful is nigh impenetrable. If we could somehow distill that into a coating for armored vehicles, our troops could drive around in the Middle East with impunity.

  • MoeLane

I fully admit to being pedantic here, but I think that I have heard Feebee being used as a pejorative/in-joke/pejorative in-joke. :)

  • westcoastpatriette

You are right and I was wrong. Unless you want to say, “Made In OOSA,” then it would be an acronym.

p.s. – military industry spending falls under corporate spending

if you believe in free markets then you know the government has no business subsidizing anything – if the business can’t thrive without the governments help or without causing the consumer inconvenience and is too dependant on our tax dollars then call it what it is – Socialism. I dont care which party is doing it

Always an excuse for this bum isn’t there? Someone is always going to find a way to ignore what he’s said or to say that “he mis-spoke” or in this case misread his words. If he gets so carried away by his own rhetoric that he can no longer read printed words what does he do on a day to day basis when it comes to governing? Is this inability to remain intellectually intact rampant in this WH because of campaign rhetoric? From the looks of the country and our current economic conditions I’d say yes.
These people are so in love with themselves (oba MAO and his followers) it’s no wonder nothing can get done in government. Everybody at the White House is too busy standing in front of mirrors all day.

You could have voted for Newt Gingrich in your primary. After all with him being the only republican ever in a leadership position that brought about 4 consecutive balanced budgets his approach may well have been the last chance to straighten out our financial mess.

How about you post a link or something that backs up what you claim? When left up to the voters, 39 states have overwhelming voted against same sex marriage, including CA and NY (not exactly right-wing states).

    From http://www.gallup.com/poll/154838/Pro-Choice-Americans-Record-Low.aspx:

The 41% of Americans who now identify themselves as “pro-choice” is down from 47% last July and is one percentage point below the previous record low in Gallup trends, recorded in May 2009. Fifty percent now call themselves “pro-life,” one point shy of the record high, also from May 2009.

As for term limits, we have those already. It’s called the voting booth.

Illegal immigration passed in Alabama with huge grassroots support from tea party and women’s groups. That’s first-hand knowledge because I am in the groups who made phone calls, met with legislators and pressured the Governor to sign the bill that was passed.
