EDITOR OF REDSTATE

The Film Maker Is Arrested

Glenn Reynolds has all the details on the arrest of the film maker who made the movie that Barack Obama says caused riots throughout the Middle East.

I’m going to be charitable here and presume that the man was arrested on other issues that would not have come to light had such much light been pointed in his direction this past week. Note in the picture it is local authors, not federal authors putting him in a police car. That suggests to me there is more going on here.

But, presuming that, if we really are dealing with people who really are rioting because of a badly produced movie that’s been on the internet for a while and they weren’t offended until subtitles were added a week or so ago, are we not now conveying a strong message to them that, in fact, the government can punish blasphemers? And if so, doesn’t that now give them incentive to riot every time someone in the United States pisses them off?

Or maybe it really wasn’t about a movie and the movie is just the scapegoat.

Yes now they are encouraged. Now they are after the pope to apologize for his true comments in 2006. They are emboldened.

Apparently your headline is somewhat stale, according to KTLA he voluntarily came in to be interviewed re his probationary status as a result of a bank fraud conviction the terms of which limits his access to the internet. According to the article, he was not under arrest, has not been held, and has been released. When you are on probation, you belong to the Justice Department.

But boy, that visual of the man in a hood being hustled into a car and driven away sure encourages the Democrat base – at least so the Obamalievers can give more credence to the far-fetched story of an amateur video rather than the fact-based evidence of an amateur foreign policy.

  • PaladinLostHour

You’re speaking about headlines when the target audience – the barbarians overseas – can’t read.

The Obama administration clearly precipitated this, and staged the optics in the hopes that this now widely disseminated photo, showing American authorities taking someone who offended Islam into custody, would quiet the mobs.

If you’re not disturbed by that manipulation, and the implicit torching of the Constitution it communicates, there’s no help for you.

  • jimmyg

dont let the facts get in the way of your hard ass reply

  • PaladinLostHour

Or in the way of your need for adult supervision.

  • The_Rebel

Will the MSM ask Obama, since his administration asked YouTube to take
down the offensive video (which, thankfully, they refused), whether he
will demand Hollywood not release the upcoming movie on the killing of
Osama? And a good follow-up question would be to ask him if similar
riots break out in the Arab countries, will his justice department bring
in the movie producers for questioning in the dark of night? I think I hear crickets…………

  • Jack_Savage

The timing of this “questioning” is about as big a load of crap as the timing of the “protests”. You guys would walk into a volcano if you thought it would help your little messiah, wouldn’t you?

Go bow to your bobble-head Obama now, and be sure and cash that check from OFA – it may not be good in a week or two.

  • gbenton

Good point. I wonder how the ‘visuals’ would be if the Feds brought in Bill Maher for his movie, Religulous, in which he blasts Islam mercilessly after he got done bashing Christianity. Nah. As was pointed out on John Nolte on Breitbart.com, Maher donated $1 million to the Obama campaign… and he’s yet to be called out for hurting Muslim feelings.

Exit question… what about the feelings of Americans who mourn the loss of the dead in this heinous violence spree in the Middle East… who feel they can’t speak freely about Islam without fear of death (or arrest)… and the fact that Obama has effectively gutted the 1st Ammendment in yet another effort to bow to Muslims.

    Religion of Peace my a$$.

  • gbenton

There really isn’t enough room in this comment thread to list the FACTS that clearly reveal President Obama to be the worst man in history to hold the office, on every level, from failure, to betrayal of American values, to failure to uphold the Constitution, failure to respect the Supreme Court or Congress and separation of powers, nor to uphold laws on immigration and welfare – not to mention the Solyndra Fraud, Fast and Furious deaths, Eric Holder cover up, and illegal interference in offshore drilling in defiance of court orders… and on and on and on.

Why don’t we just stick to the economy, in which gas prices have never been higher (where’s the XL Pipeine???), REAL unemployment is over 11%, and we’re $16 trillion in debt, running another TRILLION deficit, and the Democrats have FAILED to even pass a budget, and we’ve just been downgraded AGAIN, making that TWO firsts in his infamous first term.

I suppose, with all that, you can be forgiven in thinking that shredding the First Amendment and letting violent Muslims in the street dictate what Americans can say is just a single stain on the fabric of America among countless other stains this Empty Chair Marxist will leave when he gets booted unceremoniously in November.

You better hope Romney wins because we are ALL screwed if the Unicorn Prince gets to dismantle and mismanage America for another four years.

  • PaladinLostHour

Side point: If Romney doesn’t grab and run with this gift that keeps on giving – the Constitutional Law Professor In Chief who’s committing arson on the Bill of Rights – and doesn’t hammer him relentlessly a la Ryan – then we deserve to lose and lose badly. The American people are seething over this spectacle and frankly, our willing humiliation. All Romney need do is voice the principles behind that anger with consistent focus and daisy cutter ad buys, and the election will be over by mid-October.

Conversely (and more likely), if Romney hangs back thru a superabundance of caution, wary of a ‘rope-a-dope’, and continues to run his ‘compare our resumes’ campaign, we’re done. Obama’s principles are utterly alien to many in this center right country; but they are principles. You can’t beat that with a granite jaw and tooth whitening gel.

  • fightnright

You’re right – I guess the Democrat base of liberals/leftists is more encouraged than I realized. Jubilant even.

Maybe hubby and I should consider moving to Canada so we can *improve* our chances of speaking our minds. I hear the business climate is better there these days too.

  • chipbennett

Why does a probation violation require a midnight visit from the sheriff?

  • fightnright

In all you have laid out, the President has proven that his position as a leader of nations demands far more from him than his natural gifts would allow. But Obama is leading the country extremely effectively if one considers his primary goals to be hobbling the economy, leaving the electorate impoverished, poorly educated and dependent, and reversing the relationship between American citizens and their governmental servants permanently.

I used to think that if a radical like Obama served four more years, there would be such a strong backlash that Republicans would easily be swept into office for at least a decade after 2016; that our election process would save us. And I agreed with so many that it was irrational to believe that in a 2nd term, a newly empowered, unbound Obama administration would choose to actively suspend or limit the voting franchise. But lately watching how shrewdly the new socialists operate, it is obvious that through the courts and regulatory legislation by bureaucracy, the will of the voters may soon be rendered – at least functionally – obsolete. Whether Americans will have the chance to regain hold of the direction of the nation may be decided in November 2012.

LA County Sheriff says he was never arrested, and it was a voluntary meeting.

  • Martin Knight

    Voluntary?

With his hands behind his back, surrounded by cops, and faced covered? At midnight?

  • gbenton

Here’s my take on that… I have faith in the American people, even if upwards of 40% are lobotomized moobs who’d vote D as reliably as wind up monkeys clashing cymbals.

For what it’s worth, in the 90′s the fear was that the Clintons would reign forever and we’d all be owned by the Japanese. As it turns out, a Republican held the White House for the next two terms and Japan imploded (hint: China will too).

I also endured the moobs telling me that Kerry would win in 04 and that Obama would increase his party’s power in 2010 because teh party of NO had gotten in bed with the lunatic Tea Party and we could all expect to be getting bar codes on our butts in preparation for Obamacare. Turns out the voters STILL hate Obamacare, and that doesn’t bode well for Captain Empty Chair.

Sure, the Democrats have been unapologetically hard left, aggressive, dirty, and have an alarming lack of shame in their brazen willingness to throw truth and tradition and decency under the campaign bus… but I’ve also seen the American people shun Kerry, and the Democrats get a sound whoopin in 2009, 2010, and 2011 when the voters had a chance to do their thang.

Yes, part of me fears a rigged election, Acorn and Harry Reid and the ObamaMedia Complex and the unions tipping the scales enough to pull of a win… and I have had my doubts about Team Romney at times… but I could not see McCain winning in the crater of the 2008 crash and panic on Bush’s watch… and I can’t imagine how the events of the last week where the entire Middle East burst into flames while Obama’s home town teachers are on strike, the Fed had to drive a Jack Bauer adrenaline needle into the heart of the economy because it was dying in Prime Time… and the Party of Abortion said NO to God on video.

The Democrats in power now are bad people. Evil in some cases, I believe, even if they don’t recognize themselves as such. And I believe the American people of 2010 will flush them out with the disgraceful drubbing that they deserve… to the point that Todd ‘Legitimate Rape’ Akin may yet win.

NOW is the time for hope and change and courage. Even if the Jack Ass party does manage to steal the election, there is NO WAY that would mean the end of the story for America. That would be the beginning of an America that saw the end of the Democrat party. You know what they say about fear. These guys are a disgrace and it’s time for them to get their walking papers.

  • tnfriendofcoal101368

Advice from tnfriend – if 5-O shows up at your crib and puts the golden bracelets on you, respond with “I exercise my rights to counsel” and call GC Devine or one of his brethren in the legal profession. This would limit the length of time you are a “voluntary” guest at the crossbar hotel.

  • streiff

kind of hard to explain the handcuffs, hood, police car, and police if this was voluntary, don’t you think. When you turn yourself in, you go down to the police station.

The only reason you haven’t drawn a ban for this bit of idiocy is that you are regurgitating other idiocy.

  • romeg

I would quibble but only a tiny bit. He’s easily the second worst and maybe the third worst. I’d put Frank D. Roosevelt at the head of this ignominious line. His hatred of the Constitution was or should have been known well in advance of his election to ‘President for Life’. Woodrow Wilson would be the other contender to place ahead of Obama. But both of these men died before most of us were born so Obama is, handily, the worst in post-war history; worse even than the despicable Lyndon Baines Johnson who was personally responsible for the deaths of nearly 60,000 American service men and whose abuse of power brought us to the shores of the sea of fiscal troubles upon which we now are being tossed.

  • renl57

No action should have been taken against this man under duress.

If Islamists say “This man should be punished,” that’s the time for the U.S. Government to say “Hell no. Stop your violence first.”

  • renl57

There has been quite a bit of triumphalism among the left-wing.

Now that their guy is in the White House, they are really coming out of the woodwork, flexing their muscles.

They believe that demographics is on their side: By 2016, white voters will be down to only 71% of the electorate, while the GOP has been unable to get anything close to a majority of nonwhite voters.

  • CJB68

It’s been a while since I’ve replied to one of these posts, but this event strikes a few chords for me. I read in the #Redhot link yesterday that the person in question here actually voluntarily reported to the precinct to explain his situation but was not handcuffed, but did request that he don the overcoat, hat and scarf to hide his identity. Notwithstanding that, it does bring a chill to think that authorities are going to start calling and visiting any critic of something as though they were instigators of a crime, let alone being involved directly in the crime itself. I also refer to the report last week of the Chairman of the Join Chiefs of Staff placing a call to the Florida preacher who made the announcement of burning the Koran in protest of Jihadi violence, who was implied as having involvement with this video.

When are they going to harrass radical leftists who film Youtube videos lampooning conservative and pro-American public figures? I’m presuming the actions of Mr Holder should be answer enough.

  • wintermute

youre both wrong on so many counts. Obama hasnt stuck by any principles. He lies and when the lies come crashing down theres more lies. Our problem isnt an unprincipled candidate. Our problem is an ignorant and unprincipled electorate.

  • tnfriendofcoal101368

and as a Kowalski for less restrained but still accurate, I’d go with Charles Krauthammer where he said the Obama administration response was both “humiliating and ineffective” (really groveling always is) and that “we should tell them all to go to hell”.

Uh, uh, uh I know the answer, Mr. Carter (I mean Kotter)…the principal of those poor, unfortunate radical Muslims are just misunderstood with hurt feelings and we should appease them by having the Chairman of the Joint Chief of Staff intimidate American citizens and the LA County Sheriff throw Americans in jail. Then, apologize to these nice, psychotic thugs for the actions of those dirty Americans. Appease and apologize that is the core principle, Obama has adhered to. Myself, I have always found blaming the victims for the actions of psychotic thugs doesn’t reduce psychotic thuggery, it only increases it.

  • PaladinLostHour

    Off top of head….

    1) Inequality of result is prima facie evidence of a broken America
    2) The reach of the federal government to remediate these inequalities should not be impaired
    3) Every interaction between whites and people of color has an undercurrent of racism
    4) US problems in the Islamic world are the result of misplaced adventurism and perceptions which are largely our fault, not a civilizational clash driven by jihad

  • tnfriendofcoal101368

“What we’re seeing now is Al Qaeda developing in Libya, a meltdown of our relations with Egypt. You have riots in Yemen, attacks on our embassy in Tunisia. This entire premise that we want to be loved and respected and we’ll apologize has now yielded all of these results, and these are the fruits of apology and retreat and lack of confidence in our own principles.” — Charles Krauthammer – 1000 times – what he said….

So, we can expect the arrest of Reverand Terry Jones when exactly? And Jeremiah Wright? Nancy Pelosi? Since we’re arresting people for saying things others find offensive, lets go after all of them in a massive sting operation. Even if he was arrested for some other infraction, it sends a bad message. Ah well, someone had to be a scapegoat.

  • tngal

There’s nothing to be careful about. The fact that he was on probation has been out for two days, as well as the details of his probation and the probablity that he violated it by using computers when he was told he couldn’t. Did police have to review the matter of his probation now? Seems a bit opportunistic.

  • tnfriendofcoal101368

or Bill Maher or Larry O’Donnell or just about anyone else…if you are going to arrest people for offensive speech, the gulags are going to be full. Well, Barack Obama did call Morsi and spoke tough according to Susan Rice. Yep, he read old Morsi the riot act all right. Morsi afterwards said that he had told Obama: “to put an end to such behavior.” Fast forward, we have an American citizen arrested and Morsi decides to actually sort of say, maybe, perhaps, kind of, don’t attack the American embassy, if you don’t wan’t too. Yep, so the agreement in action is that, we’ll crack down on American citizens exercising their rights if Morsi would crack down on his psychotic thugs engaging in psychotic thuggery. Some riot act that was. I always dreamed of living in an Islamist regime….

  • frankmac

He wasn’t arrested, nor was he in handcuffs. It was a “voluntary interview” reviewing his probation. One of the requirements of his probation is that he cannot access the internet without the approval of his probation officer. Since the “movie” was on YouTube, it’s reasonable to question how it got there. Let’s not make stuff up. It looks bad for the movement as a whole.

  • streiff

This is nonsense on stilts. You don’t have police cars for a “voluntary interview.”

  • frankmac

He wasn’t arrested. He wasn’t in cuffs. He was released after the interview. What do we want to call it? Let’s keep in mind he was also on probation, so there will be different restrictions for him than there would be for you or I.

  • tnfriendofcoal101368

uh oh, Jeff Zeleny and Mike Wallace didn’t get Chuck Todd’s memo…Wallace calls the Obama response “astonishing” (as in astonishingly stupid if they believe it and an astonishingly appalling lie if they don’t). NY Times reporter, Jeff Zeleny calls the Obama administration “naive and quaint”.

  • frankmac

You’re missing the fact that he wasn’t arrested.

  • tnfriendofcoal101368

A picture is worth a 1000 words, you’ll note: 5 police officers, midnight, a police car, the man being shoved into said police car with his hands behind his back. Perhaps, maybe, I am thinking the LA sheriff got caught putting the screws to an American citizen and “voluntary” is spinning it…I am just saying…http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/.a/6a00d8341c630a53ef017d3c0e6f14970c-640wi

What are the charges against him? Making a ridiculously poor youtube video?? Gosh, have the country would be in jail–ooops! I gave away the Obama plan

  • frankmac

Agree that the “imagery” of the incident looks terrible. I guess I’m just responding to the inaccurate headline of “The Film Maker Is Arrested”. We don’t need to make things up to be effective.

  • tnfriendofcoal101368

5555555555555 – we have disagreements on the candidate but 1000 times what you just said…

  • bingyboy

From what I understand, he had a family member put the hood and handcuffs on before he had someone drive him in voluntarily–this happens a lot in fantasyland!!

  • PowerToThePeople

Yep, you must be right. Most normal citizens, on or not on probation, desire to voluntarily be embarrassed by a midnight encounter with tons of cops and cameras just so they can be “questioned.”

Funny his “voluntary” agreement to be harassed only happened after our self proclaimed Jesus president decided he abused his first amendment rights when angered the muslims.

Sorry Bub, there was nothing voluntary about what happened and it had nothing to do with his probation. This was pure intimidation, nothing more, nothing less.

  • fightnright

I wrote yesterday in a thread for Dan Spencer’s ‘Blaming Romney, not terrorists’ about Obama’s growing the mob. Of course Obama *is* already doing this to a degree, but he has not yet completely finessed its influence. The left would like their constituency of youth, un-assimilated immigrants (adults with no grounding in American first principles, their children not learning U.S. history in the schools), and the perennially dissatisfied to grow in numbers and power.

That 99% has been energized by their dream that the object is to put them in charge, but they will never become part of the nomenklatura or patron class, er, caste. That, as always in history, will be reserved for Barry’s own group of elites: Jarrett and the company of czars, carefully guiding the lives of the citizenry.

  • bingyboy

Why didn’t they arrest the producer of the latest Batman film??

  • frankmac

When you’re on probation, you are not a “normal citizen”, and you must adhere to the terms of your probation. If it just came to light (after this week’s tragedies) that he may have been posting things on YouTube without his officer’s permission, then you’re in violation and anything can happen from that point. If he wasn’t on probation, it would be a totally different story. Again, my biggest beef is that the headline of Erick’s post was, and continues to be, completely inaccurate. No arrest took place, plain and simple.

  • Common_Cents

saying he’ll heal the planet and lower the oceans sounds a little Jesus like to me.

  • jamesm

Was he booked and charged? For sure he was detained and taken in for questioning–arrested.

  • Common_Cents

Have they arrested the DNC delegate who said publicly she wants to kill Romney? why hasn’t she? where is the follow up investigation? Has Obama even denounced his delegate for stating she wants to kill Romney???

  • http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elizabeth_Jacobson get2djnow

That’s awesome. Like you, I’ll enjoy asshattery. Thanks for the great news.

  • jamesm

Jesus never said anything like that. Lol. So many misconceptions. Sounds like some liberal comic book character instead of truth.

  • fightnright

One more note – I was surprised this morning to find my right-leaning, critical of Obama hometown paper, the NY Post, carrying the headline ‘ Cinemaniac: Feds question loon who set fire to the Muslim world’, complete with photo of sheriffs and detainee, slavishly promoting the administration’s narrative of video-violence in every regard. Sad, because the Post is one media holdout that I fully expect will endorse Romney/Ryan in November.

Guess they learned their lesson in 2008 when they and other newspapers chafing at the Obama leash had their reporters tossed off the future President’s campaign plane. Or maybe they fear a knock on the door of their accounting offices sometime soon.

  • chipbennett

Obama isn’t “riding high in the polls”. Fraudulent* pollsters had to oversample democrats vs. republicans, and all but not sample independents, in order to get the current poll results.

What do those polls really tell us? That Obama is losing independents in a landslide, and that democrats must be oversampled by margins greater than the 2006 or 2008 wave elections, in order to get a topline result with Obama leading.

    * Yes: fraudulent. The severity of the sample manipulation strains credibility beyond the breaking point. A partisan breakdown of 50D/45R/5I is simply absurd, as is a claim that such a partisan breakdown is random or unintentional.

  • chipbennett

Yes, because when the Sheriff knocks on your door after midnight, your return to the station with him and his deputies is always “voluntary.”

Again: why did a potential probation violation investigation require a midnight visit from the Sheriff? What was so critical that the questioning couldn’t wait until normal business hours?

This “probation violation” nonsense is as much of a front as is blaming the video for the coordinated terrorist attacks on 9/11.

  • streiff

“taken into custody” would be okay. But the assertion that this was a voluntary interview marks you as someone who is either a) not too bright — and I have to admit I’m willing to entertain that idea in light of your comments — or 2) trolling.

  • streiff

thank you for your exegesis on criminal law. I’m sure no one reading this story understands “probation” or “parole.” Your knowledge has raised the quality of the discourse to stratospheric levels.

  • tnfriendofcoal101368

    Your right it’s Captain Planet!!!!!

  • runner12

EE strikes a nice balance here, once again being a voice of reason. I too will give the authorities the benefit of the doubt here. The man does have a criminal record and posting on YouTube could very well be a violation of parole. I have felt in my gut that there is more to this “video” than meets the eye. It has been used as a smokescreen to cover for terrorist attacks and Obama’s wretchedly inept response to it all ( not too mention the ignoring of prior intelligence suggesting the attacks were going to occur).

All of that being said, optics matter. You do not pick the guy up for questioning in such an overt manner. It sends the message that we have caved to Morsi and abandoned our committment to the 1st Amendment. Once again, Obama and Co. show their incompetence.

  • frankmac

I’m not stupid and I’m not a troll. The headline of this post continues to be incorrect. I’m not much for internet pissing matches, however, so this will be my last reply on the issue. Have the last word, if you’d like.

  • M_Becker

So frankmac, you’ve got a copy of the terms of his probation? Post ‘em please or at least provide a link.

    Otherwise, STFU.

  • PowerToThePeople

I would show you just how ignorant you are and how stupid your comments are, but the posters below handled that quite well already.

So I will simply state that since I decided a few weeks ago that I would only devote a small amount of time to stupid people, I have decided that I will save that time for a more deserving person and pass on debating your tripe.

  • edintexas

It isn’t “imagery”. Probation Officers (PO’s) don’t conduct “voluntary interviews” at midnight. Regular Law Enforcement Officers (LEOs) don’t conduct interviews for the assigned PO, The norm is the PO interviews his parolee, and if there is clear indication of a probation violation, he refers to the prosecutor for potential action. The PO only works at midnight if there is no other way to get the parolee in for the interview (and often under those circumstances the PO goes to find the parolee and interview at his location).

This was not “normal”, and the squad car was not transport for a “voluntary interview”. This was intended to show everyone (Muslims particularly, but also Dear Leader’s opposition) how they can crack down on those who don’t toe the line. If you believe that the Administration had nothing to do with this, I have a really nice antique bridge for sale. Or how about some beachfront property in AZ.

  • dbecraft

I’m sure that I’ve missed some relative comments but really this is an unconstitutional act perpetrated on an American citizen! Any other explanation is invalid. If this action does not get resolved, where does Law and Order stand? You can’t just make stuff up to bring in someone even if they are on probation (on free speech of all things). This appears to be a coercive act by the Federal Government to attempt to calm the situation in the Middle East. Anyone who continues to excuse this action has no understanding of our Constitution.

My gosh, what have we become! I would be more explicit but refrain because I don’t want to get banned for this post!

  • dbecraft

Arguing about the headline is NOT what this discussion is about and you know it! Either admit that the police were abusing the Constitution or support your statements. You have been spending too much time trying to support your headline hypothesis instead of trying to defend the unconstitutional police action – and yes even if he was on parole!

  • tetrisd85

This dude is a creep. Hard for me to sympathize with him. Not very good optics for our side to sympathize with someone violating probation and who is a person of interest in a terrorism episode.

  • PowerToThePeople

As the brilliant Jack Savage explained to you, ya asshat, it is not the person we defend, it is the right to free speech that we defend regardless of who is expressing the words.

How about next time you think about vomiting your opinion on this site, you just skip wasting your time and ours.

PS What made you think “optics” was a good word to use in that sentence? Just wondering……………

  • taskready

I’m pretty sure he was arrested.

Verb: Seize (someone) by legal authority and take into custody.
Noun: The action of seizing someone to take into custody: “I have a warrant for your arrest”.

    Synonyms:
    verb. stop – apprehend – detain – seize – check – capture
noun. detention – apprehension – custody – capture – seizure

Looking at this thread, it is quite obvious streiff is correct in that RedState is being systematically invaded by the propagandists of the left. Only complete ignoramuses would argue that a man went “voluntarily in the middle of the night surrounded by cops and in cuffs”, period. What is this Nazi Germany?
FYI: There is NO such thing as Federal probation, that is known as parole, which one does after doing time in a federal prison. So much for the incorrect troll spewing that one. Yes that is how I can see that the ignoramuses of the left are in here, the lies are repeated as the truth, all because they copied them from the Daily Korn, Media Mutters, TP, OFA, and all the other Goebbels-modeled “News sites for the intellectual Liberals.”
I thing Erick should be proud that the paid propagandists are in here attacking him… [to an extent], however, the allowing of Leftists to control the comment section with blatant nonsense and distractions is a disservice to actual conservatives concerned about the issues facing America and wanting to discuss them with knowledgable people. Look at this “thread”- comment section below. Disgusting bunch of disengious drivel **for the most part,** which means that Redstate is allowing the message to be controlled by the loons. If I want to be subject to that nonsense I,ll head on over to hang out with the Wonks of Liberal -la-la-land. That isn’t happening either, simply because I prefer truth over propaganda . You have your work cut out for you folks here at RedState.

  • cwfoster

I read an article the other day that while the authore admitted it was speculation, raised some interesting thoughts. First, the Director was supposed to be an Israeli Jew living in California and working in real estate. Second the cell phone they tried to reach this guy on, traced back to the producers (the guy who’s on probation) house. There are few enough records on that guy, beyond his criminal history, and he CLAIMS to be a Coptic Christian. the suggestion made in the article was suppose he’s no more of a Copt, than he was an Israeli Jew? His criminal record is for fraud. The claim was made that the movies had a $5M budget, but one actress said she recieved $500, and considering the number of people who may have been in the film, I doubt the cast cost much over $100K, Has anyone else seen it? I don’t think there WERE any post production costs, other than dubbing in inflammatory dialoge where the actors said there was nothing to do with any religeon in the script. NOW, I wonder who would gain from making a movie, that would ridicule the makers for it’s crappy quality, and inflame hatred for them amongst muslims….; maybe another muslim? The only fact we know about this guy beyond question, is he came from Egypt.

I’m a Christian, therefore I am fair game for Muslims and all others. I find it totally amazing that Christians are available for bashing and persecution in Muslim countries, but holy crap, do not say anything even slightly negative about Mohammed or the Muslim faith. You will be targeted by death squads or blamed for any temper tantrum these barbarian want to throw. Yes, I said the ‘B’ word. They are not civilized. They are not thoughtful, insightful, nor are they civilized. Look through history and what do you see as parallels? Maybe you see Atilla? Maybe Mao?, Stalin?. Pol Pot? Now that is are a group which you can run as parallel to today’s middle eastern Muslims. I DO NOT agree with the film maker, nor am I in favor of any of his ideas, but I will defend to the death, his right to say them.

So you are saying his arrest was pure intimidation. If you are on probation you must adhere to guidelines. You sound very bitter about something else.

  • PowerToThePeople

Bbee, do not make a fool of yourself. Stupid replies such as yours only show you to be a fool not worthy of any notice. And the whole bitter line, a child would give a better retort.

Now run along and play, you are out of your league.

I say we have a National Mohammed Blasphemy day and have millions of Americans put an image of Mohammed in a mayonnaise jar full of lemonade, call it something else and dare the authorities to arrest all of us…but hey, that’s me. This is what happens when a bunch of Iron Age savages brings a super power to it knees. Its over people. The US of A has fallen, has fallen. Thank God it doesn’t matter to Americans who know who and what they are.

The Chris Wallace interview Sunday with UN amb Susan Rice was a telling interchange. She insisted the short you tube trailer was the sole cause of all the violence across the ME. Chris ceded that the video trailer may have SPARKED the riots. But there was a lot more built up anti US sentiment that fueled the riots after the intital spark. Its the fuel that needs be addressed for long term policy and safety.
Rice is in official denial that these deady attacks are anti US Obama policy. Just a reacton to a you tube trailer sparked all this chaos and death therefore it will recede and all will be well..

On probation he has less freedom to decline to talk. Its less hassle to agree and be interviewed. Its a curious event as we have no idea what his possible violation could be. But if he associated with felons, drunks or enaged in illicit material he may have violated P &P rules.
He has violated no law but . he may have stepped over the line with P &P.

Are they fishing for a holding charge?

This pathetic attempt, by the administration, to blame a movie for their failed policies only highlights their weakness and incompetence.

    The Price of Failure
The sole purpose of a country having a foreign policy is to protect its interests and ensure the safety of its population. It does so by being the “baddest dog in town”. It is not, repeat, not, to spend money from its treasury to ensure nation building or to make muslins feel good about themselves. Those policies come separately, as individual programs, from the congress.

Thomas Jefferson understood it by sending the navy, with US Marines, to hammer the muslim pirates at Tripoli. John Paul Jones did it to the British in their home waters and Teddy Roosevelt, learned this lesson and, to demonstrate to the world there was a new sheriff in town, he sent the US Navy’s “Great White Fleet” around the world on a campaign of pure propaganda to scare the hell out of every body and make the point, “weakness invites insult and injury”, and to tell them: “Don’t tread on us.” Other examples exist and if I listed them all I would run over one page.

It is in America’s interests that the middle east stay in turmoil; to let them argue and fight among themselves, over there, so they will not be over here. If it requires the application of military force to keep the balance, over there, then that’s what a nation must do. And, in the nature of all successful nations, we should certainly have extracted their oil to help defray the cost of their salvation and as a gesture of gratitude for lifting the yoke of oppression from their shoulders.

Alas, while it is possible that a silly novice could recognize the full picture that foreign policy requires, and do the right thing, sadly we have yet to find that person. A novice, after his first attempt to mold a foreign policy effort, is no longer a novice but becomes a mere amateur. If that first effort fails, then that amateur novice becomes dangerous — to his own people.

The muslims of the middle-east, under Bush’s policy, were at least in disarray. Under Obama’s failed foreign policy efforts however, they are no longer divided against themselves because Obama has managed to unite them all, in common cause, to hate America. Bush was a far more successful president than Obama is, but he too failed to remember the purpose of our foreign policy – to keep them divided. He had no business to engage in nation building. These people still live in the 13th century, remain tribal, clannish, and leaderless unless they fall under the influence of powerful dictators both religious or secular. Until Obama, that was allowed to happen. Mubarak, Kadafy, Al Assad and one or two others, were definitely SOB’s, but they were our SOB’s. That’s how the game is played on the international level. As citizens we are mere observers, if we see anything at all.

What we do see is failure. Our lone ally Israel, is ignored and our mortal enemy, the Muslim brotherhood, is encouraged to flourish. Indeed, as I write this, Battalions of Israeli armor are en-route to counter the armored units of Egypt on the Sinai. Mobile anti-missile batteries are being erected in the population centers around Jerusalem and Tel a Viv and civilian protective policies are being implemented. Why is this? Because Israel also has a foreign policy to protect its people, and no threats, tantrums, or wishing from an amateur novice is going to dissuade them from the protection of their people. The Israelis are not amateurs. They are not novices and they are not waiting! All the signs are there to be seen and read. We should be ready too.

No asinine home movie allegedly seen by millions of camel riders most of whom have no ability to see electronic media, is responsible for what’s going on right now. This is the price of failure. Expect some reaction here, soon, possibly from NYC or Dearborn, Michigan. These people are not afraid any more. Freedom is the Goal, the Constitution is the way. Go get ‘em! (16 Sept 12)

Part of his probation, since his crime involved internet-based fraud, was that he could not use the internet without prior permission from his probation officer. Ostensibly, if he posted this video, he violated that stipulation.

Nevertheless: why does investigation of that possible probation require a midnight visit? Why not simply call him the next day and say, “Sir, we have a few questions to ask. Please come see your probation officer”?

  • streiff

and the more damning question is why he wasn’t charged with a violation of his parole after that ignominious charade.

  • celador2

This man has been labeled a perpetrator or instigator of violence across the ME by the US government’s UN ambassador and Sec of State. They have opinions that change the focus from the on site actual perpetrators of violence to the film maker. The state Probation and parole has officers to monitors his behavior while he finishes his sentence. These restrictions are designed to keep him out of trouble. If his violations are minor he won’t be thrown back in jail or prison. If the violation is major he will get a formal court revocation hearing and have lawyers, a Judge like arbitrator and witnesses. Plus interested law enforcement who may want to observe can be present. Its a new ballgame once he is charged with a violation that leads to a request for revocation. The world wide media might show up.
This man ‘s Internet violation is not related to his sentence that led to probation or parole. Who is the victim? He is the scape goat for Hillary Clinton’s grand design of remaking ME–for Obama of course.

I’m with you Erick. Unless he was arrested for something not related to the film then we are indeed in trouble as a nation. That means that the 1st Amendment just got thrown out the window. Our country should not be kowtowing to any radicals anywhere in the world. The fact that they have killed our Ambassador and using the movie as an excuse we should have introduced them to Mr Cruise Missile. We need a President that is a mixed of Teddy Roosevelt, Ronald Reagan and GW Bush to go in there cand clean these freaks of human nature out. Where was the outrage a few years ago when the Alleged artist in New York displayed a Crucifix in a Jar of Pee. I don’t remember the Christians of the world killing Ambassadors or blowing up embassy’s do you ? If these radicals continue to push their beliefs in a non-acceptance violent manner around the world they are going to start a war they can’t win but inevitably will take the lives oof many innocent people. They are going to have to learn to be torrent of the rest of teh world or suffer the rath of the world. do you think for one minute that Russia would sit by and let them do this to their ambassador? Not for a second. Mr Missile would have already been sent to them. This Muslim or Muslim loving President we have is embarrassing us around the world. He is making us weak and to look even weaker. how anyone in their right mind could still support this man is beyond my belief system.

  • celador2

Is there not a Fatawah or a call to kill the film maker from various Muslim states and mullahs in ME? Has US condemned that call for his murder?

  • 40love

Since the left controls the media, they essentially have control of the sheeple. This latest attempt by the Muslim-Marxist to “CYA” is a futile attempt by his media to say the least. Most of us out here know the dictator has no clothes. What a psychopath-etic little despot!
