FRONT PAGE CONTRIBUTOR

Ambassador Susan Rice’s grim, vaguely bigoted, Libyan point-defense.

You may be wondering why the Obama administration (in the guise of UN Ambassador Susan Rice) is claiming that last week’s protests and murders in the Middle East were spontaneous, ad hoc exhibitions of ire against an obscure anti-Islamic YouTube movie, despite the fact that the Libyan government itself is saying that the aforementioned murder of Ambassador Chris Stevens and members of his staff was part of a “precalculated, preplanned attack” by a terrorist group. After all, not only is the latter explanation the more believable one (disorganized rioters rarely bring rocket-propelled grenade launchers to spontaneous demonstrations); it’s frankly the less insulting one, given that the administration is essentially taking the position that it’s reasonable to expect Muslims to bring rocket-propelled grenade launchers to spontaneous demonstrations. And yet there Ambassador Rice is there, busily embarrassing herself all over the television – and with the pitying disapproval of her peers, too.

What’s going on?

Sheer pragmatism. A clumsy lie beats admitting to eight years of hypocrisy, you see.

I won’t belabor this next point: the reason why ‘spontaneous demonstration’ is so appealing an answer for the Obama administration is because that answer absolves them of having to take most of the responsibility for letting the attacks succeed. A genuinely spontaneous reaction to something that the administration didn’t actually do would be legitimately impossible to predict and hard to defend against, and people do know that. On the other hand, if the attack was premeditated, then the questions become Why didn’t the Obama administration catch this ahead of time? and Why wasn’t the Obama administration prepared for trouble? And the reasons why those questions are problematical is because they’re the same questions that Democrats asked the Bush administration, in the aftermath of 9/11. And the Democrats were notably contemptuous of the Bush administration’s answers, back then.

Which is pretty much why Ambassador Rice did her best today to keep the Obama administration from being in the same boat. Better that the administration look like victims, instead of incompetents; and besides, who’s getting harme… err, who’s getting harmed in the Oval Office by that?

Apparently, Obama is betting on the recent uprisings to help his campaign. How else do you explain his ineffective, disinterested responses and his refusal to curtail fundraising events? It is beginning to look like he is enjoying all this. He could barely fake a look of concern at the Andrews AFB ceremony. I expected him to glance at his watch at any moment. And then off he went to the next gathering of sychophants, who appear to have been living in caves, unaware of world events.

I’m watching the Susan Rice interview on FNS now.

If anyone else doesn’t care to upset their stomach before Sunday dinner, the Big Lies remain:

~Israel/US relations have *never been better*!

~The protests in the Middle East have NOTHING to do with their hatred of the US!

~This spontaneous ‘show of unrest’ belies the administration’s primary concern in the security of the US and that of their interests overseas – followed with extreme conscientiousness by the WH and the PotUS in their briefings!

She’s bs’ing so fast, I’m surprised that her lengthening-by-the-minute nose doesn’t hit Chris Wallace on the side of his face every time she nods her head.

  • fightnright

proudmarinemom, I really appreciate your posts and am wondering how far the administration would go to cover up fault if a security failure becomes evident in the next few weeks.

I know I would feel threatened as a whistle-blower (witness the plight of Dr Shakil Alfridi, languishing ignored in prison). But could a Fast and Furious style stonewalling of an investigation into the breach be sufficient to stop bleeding for Dems at the polls in November?

  • http://hehasfailed.wordpress.com/ HopeHeFails

The usual liberal display of pompous arrogance, but with an extra dose of condescension.

  • gnelson

If the Obama administration were collectively Pinocchio, their noses would stretch from DC to CA. I agree with Herman Cain. THEY THINK WE ARE STUPID!!!

  • gnelson

I am surprised that the Obama administration hasn’t found a way to blame Romney for the attacks. That’s not below their level of contempt.

  • fightnright

Thanks. It’s a lesson in how well the administration’s narrative is working when an activist for American principles like me (who has chosen the moniker ‘fightnright’, no less) follows a timid media’s accepting lead after spokespersons like Susan Rice have been asked, ‘*Could* there have been a breach?’ ‘*Might* there be cause for concern over our interests being blindsided?’ and the reply has been a firm ‘The fact is, all security precautions were in place and followed’ followed by a hard glance to the interlocutor signalling ‘Case closed’.

The meek supplication in questioning Obama’s representatives is even occurring in right-wing venues. I still think there may be an issue of sub-rosa threats being made to congressional actors who might be being warned against spilling the beans of any widespread U.S. security weakness to the global community. I’ve been taking some time off this week, what a sickening time to be following the news and the infuriating reporting on this tragedy.

Right now, I want to sponsor a “Yard Sale for Obama.” (NOT!!!!)

  • gnelson

I sent my heartfelt thanks to you and your son for your service to our country.

If you haven’t done so, click on the first link in the article to hear Susan Rice lie with a totally straight face; my God, she might even believe her own drivel. This is absolutely shameless. If Obama wins re-election, my wife and I are bugging out of here because the America that I love will be gone.

  • gnelson

Very eloquently stated. We need more intelligent people like you to take this fight the the libs in a meaningful, not petty, way.

  • aeaeren

So what esle did you expect? No one in this administration takes responsiblity for anything. It’s blame Bush or blame *insert whatever*. Obama is banking on Zombies believing the lie and people like Joe Scarbrough and the rest of the pathetic media we have in this country. So far I don’t think enough people are buying it because it is just to easy to debunk and plain logic is killing them. Besides they can’t control the foreign press and the other countries. Libya is not playing the game and I suspect they might feel a Romney win coming and don’t want to be in the cross hairs before Iran.

  • edintexas

Because his name is Romney, not Bush?

  • Viet71

“Spontaneous” means we did not have or make use of effective MI or CIA operations.

    IOW, State Department failure.

  • FlyingTigress

I don’t know about you, but I always bring heavy duty man-portable weapons to demonstrations. Next week, I’m bringing a Javelin.

Did Hillary Clinton send a gay ambassador to Libya as intentional provocation?

Caroline Glick : “Since taking office, Obama has made clear that he views the US as an imperialist power on the world stage. As a result, the overarching goal of Obama’s foreign policy has been to end US global hegemony.” unquote

When you’re a stooge for this Regime administration, like this imbecilic Obama henchwoman is, what else would she say..  She and the rest of her ilk, should all be run out of Washington DC, forever, period.

The evidence is clear and incontrovertible. Obama and Hillary both have all but abandoned America, US National Security, and the American people, with their naive appeasing failed foreign policy.. and even worse, their deliberate willful neglect, aka dereliction of duty to protect and defend America against all enemies foreign and domestic.

The fact is President Obama’s foreign policy directives, lack of intelligence up-briefs, direct executive orders contradicting Congressional mandates and restrictions in aiding, abetting, supply, financing, assisting in the training terrorist organizations like the PLA, giving them vital US intelligence against the Israeli’s, means he has not only usurped the US Constitution, but his willful neglect, aka dereliction of duty to protect and defend America against all enemies foreign and domestic, has not only put America and all Americans in danger, not to mention Israel, but he has severely weakened US National Security, which has subsequently led to the death of a U.S. Ambassador and 3 staff diplomats in Libya, as well as all the other attacks against our Embassy’s in Egypt, Yemen, Somalia, Tunisia, etc..

Even worse is Obama’s nonchalant careless indifferent apathetic contemptuous attitude in all of this, towards America, American lives, and especially our closet mid-east Israel, is truly mindnumbingly abhorrent.

This so called movie made 6 months ago, is just  a ruse, an excuse to give these islamist thugs terrorists a political excuse.. for which this stooge and her bosses are using to cover up their gross incompetence, misconduct, and neglect, aka dereliction of duty and liability. Funny how Bill Maher made a movie mocking both Christianity and islam, and no one in the middle east is rioting over that.

All the evidence points to the 911 anniversary coordinated attacks were professionally planned ahead of time, then executed.. was thus not a spontaneous reaction.. Obama and Hillary  had US Military and CIA intelligence, let alone warnings from the Libyan govt, 48 hours ahead of time, but intentionally chose to ignore it and all the flashing red light alarm bell warnings, at great cost to American lives, and US National Security.  They are both liable for the actions that took place, as they could have been prevented it.

6 Nov cannot come soon enough !!  Did you hear that Ms henchwoman, aka Obama stooge.. Start packing your bags..

O.K. IF SUDAN DOES NOT WANT US TO PROTECT OUR EMBASSY,,,,,
THEN THEY DON’T NEED OUR EMBASSY OR OUR MONEY.
    LET’S GET THE HELL OUT,,,,,,,NOW
OH YES IN CAPITAL LETTERS !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Bill S

Oh yes – do it again and you’re out.

Part of being here means respecting the community. You aren’t.

  • tnfriendofcoal101368

I’d say the correct response would be to send in the marines and not ask the Sudanese government if they thought it was ok, quietly not in caps. That way, embassy is protected; Sudanese government doesn’t have to explain to radical Islamist elements why they are US sympathizers. This is indicative of the two great failings of Obama foreign policy: an inability to act without worrying about who is not going to love us and an inability to keep it’s mouth shut.

  • irishgirl

I just don’t get how this could possibly help Obama’s campaign. Security at these empassies looked so totally taken off guard and ill-prepared. And then our leader blithely goes off to his next campaign event after once again not bothering to go to this daily intel briefing.

  • paco12348

Ambassador Rice has lost whatever credibility she had with the lies she told to Chris Wallace. She wasn’t using diplomacy….she lied. Just like every word that comes out of the White House. We cannot trust this Administration or anyone that is under Obama’s control.
