Is Barack Obama REALLY thinking about releasing the Blind Sheik? REALLY?

Before we get started:

NO. DO NOT DO THIS.

OK, wanted to get that out of the way.

[UPDATE: Full background here.]

Anyway: I will admit to being highly skeptical about the initial report that the “U.S. State Department is actively considering negotiations with the Egyptian government for the transfer of custody of Omar Abdel-Rahman, also known as “the Blind Sheikh,” for humanitarian and health reasons.” It seemed absolutely insane that any administration would do this. Everybody knows that Abdel-Rahman would be released just as soon as he ended up in Egyptian custody. This is what happened to the Lockerbie bomber, and it would happen to that guy. So I didn’t believe that this was going to happen – a belief that even survived the sight of six house Chairs (Judiciary, Foreign Affairs, Intelligence, Armed Services, Homeland Security, and Appropriations*) and two subcommittee chairs formally telling the Attorney General and the Secretary of State not to do this (although I will admit that said belief took a battering in the process).

But now I see this:

The Obama administration is weighing the release of blind Sheik Omar Abdel-Rahman — the spiritual adviser to the 1993 World Trade Center bombers — in a stunning goodwill gesture toward Egypt that has touched off a political firestorm, officials said yesterday.

The Egyptian government “asked for his release,” an administration source told The Post — and Rep. Peter King (R-LI) confirmed the request is being considered.

Pete King is the Homeland Security Chair, and he’s one of the people who signed the aforementioned letter – which, by the way, was asking about rumors that the ‘transfer’ of Abdel-Rahman was being considered, and not a confirmation that it actually was being considered. If this is actually happening, then… it needs to stop. Abdel-Rahman did not stop being a terrorist mastermind when he got old and sick; and I don’t want him released.

Neither do the American people.

This would be funny if it weren’t so tragic. Barack Obama’s new flag and the inspiration behind it… But it is a fitting symbol given all that is gong down with this Arab Spring. You just cannot believe they would even consider it.

The appropriate response to Egypt’s “request” for the Blind Terrorist Omar Abdul Rahman is to tell them to pound sand. And in response to the recent Egyptian arrest warrant for Terry Jones, we should suspend foreign aid payments to Egypt.

And Iowahawk had a tweet on responding to Egypt: Compromise and offer to send half of Omar Abdul Rahman back.

    Love your compromise.

better yet, knock off this nonsense, Morsi or you can join Rahman in the gulag or Osama with the fishes – your choice – this is the only negotiation you do with psychotic thugs.

Or, dropping his whole body attached to a MOAB on Cairo.

As BHO has said before, “I’ll have a lot more flexibility after the election”. How Americans are allowing themselves to be duped by this guy is beyond me.

Heh. I said that very same thing in 2008……

Flop-sweat-induced media narratives notwithstanding, it is just these sorts of things that the people who will actually show up to cast votes in November are paying attention to; thus, it is exactly these sorts of things that will ensure that Barack Obama will move into his new, Hawaiian estate as a private citizen in January, 2013.

Many GOP leaders sent a letter telling Obama not to release him. Why would they do that if it was not true?

Notice how they throw so much at the American people and the media that we cannot keep up with the multiple scandals? Look squirrel……………………….

If this kind of thing is going to happen then our military should hand over any high priority target to one of our allies, such as Britain, to hold on to these guys until we get a new CIC. This man swore to protect the U.S. from all enemies, etc., but obviously he had no intention of doing that. Move the guy to Great Britain where they have some common sense!

There was a federal lawsuit filed on behalf of Omar Abdel Rahman on September 26th, 2011. He will be placed in Egyptian custudy due to misconduct by previous admninistrations. He will remain under house arrest in Egypt for the remainder of his life, with constant threat of detention if he does anything against Egyptian laws. War on terror is a wrap. Time to move on.
