Eric Holder Is Still Alive, A Lot Of Other People Not So Much

Not terribly surprising as this man’s best friend is The Big Lie.

During an interview that was noted for actually asking Obama questions with follow-up rather than the sorry spectacle we’ve become accustomed to of a reporter attaching himself to Obama’s nether regions and demonstrating their absence of a gag reflex, Obama was questioned about the ill-conceived Operation Fast and Furious and the DOJ IG report:

Q Mr. President, you told me during an interview that you — Eric Holder or you did not authorize the Fast and Furious operation that allowed 2,000 weapons from the United States to Mexico, and they were in drug-trafficking hands. I think that up to 100 Mexicans might have died, and also American agent, Brian Terry. There’s a report that 14 agents were responsible for the operation. But shouldn’t Attorney General Eric Holder — he should have known about that. And if he didn’t, should you fire him?

THE PRESIDENT: Well, first of all, I think it’s important for us to understand that the Fast and Furious program was a field-initiated program begun under the previous administration. When Eric Holder found out about it, he discontinued it. We assigned an inspector general to do a thorough report that was just issued, confirming that, in fact, Eric Holder did not know about this, that he took prompt action and the people who did initiate this were held accountable.

This is a lie on a lot of levels. The program, Operation Wide Receiver, that was started under President Bush was coordinated with the Mexican government. Guns were not allowed to leave government surveillance. The operation initiated under Obama was done without the consent of the Mexican government and no attempt was made to keep the weapons under surveillance. Rather the harebrained scheme was to link the weapons to actual murders in Mexico for the ostensible reason of identifying gun trafficking networks. A more cynical view sees Rahm Emanuel’s dictum of “don’t waste a good crisis” and a deliberate arming of Mexican gangs with the express intent that the weapons would be used in mayhem and thus create a set of facts to increase ATF authority over gun sales.

This guy isn’t smart. He isn’t quick on his feet. His entire political life has been characterized by the press treating him with kid gloves and telling each other what kind of a master communicator he is. The Univision interview is what happens when he is confronted with actual journalism.

Agreed…so we find our stories out from Univision and the European Press…who have apparently fallen out of love with Obama.

I would have asked one question…if I were Latino: You have promised to help the Black person in your country and they have the highest unemployment rate. What will you do for Latinos once they have voted you in…kick them under the bus also. That would have been my question.

  • irishgirl

I have admired the way Bush has kept out of the public spotlight, but I really wish he would come out on this one.

  • irishgirl

Because like streiff has said, the media is attached to Obama’s nether region. Therefore, they’re only reporting Romney’s “gaffes”.

  • jaykali

Amazing that we can’t these tough questions…I don’t know.. – ALL the time!? I mean how many heart-warming family TV specials do we really need to see? Is that what the public needs?!?!

The entire town hall is one big snotburger with a side poo if you’re name is David Axelrod. Here is the link to a transcript of the town hall http://foxnewsinsider.com/2012/09/20/transcript-president-obamas-remarks-at-univision-town-hall/ and in a shameless plug, I wrote a diary fact checking the President – you would never see from Kessler or his ilk http://www.redstate.com/tnfriendofcoal101368/2012/09/21/fact-checking-obamas-run-in-with-a-real-reporter-named-jorge-ramos/.

Wait wait wait, I thought people killed people, not guns…?

  • funwithknives

“But El Presidente’, why then do the Two programs have Two differing names,…que’?
Why was Presidente’ Bush’s program known to The Mexican Government and F & F never was?
Who do you think you are keeding…?”
Yeah, I am stereotyping, but I’m classed as a Racist anyway, so I’m playing to my ‘strength’. So shoot me……….I’m not worthy.

  • westcoastpatriette

Agree, irishgirl. It would take great restraint to keep quiet when you know you are being lied about. But, Bush is classy in that way and will probably continue to keep quiet knowing that all of the truth will eventually come out.

  • streiff

just can’t leave us alone, eh? Next time your IP goes away.

  • Viet71

    My take too.

Obama is a liar. He lies skilfully about his whole life.

Romney is too honest, or inept, to nail him. Too bad Republicans didn’t have a personable, skillful, clean, utterly ruthless candidate to run against Obama

  • fightnright

Over at NRO, Ramesh Ponnuru has made a good point that Romney hasn’t yet effectively reached millions of middle class voters who have long felt that their interests have been ignored, while their contributions in taxation and service over the decades have been heavy.

It certainly might boost his appeal, as the MSM has focused its ammo almost exclusively on painting Romney as the Great Enemy of the misused middle, which is beginning to feel like some great political orphan within the campaigns’ interests.

It might also help if Romney engaged early some top-notch speakers to help him navigate the treacherous shoals of media interviews and the debates. If I was a member of his campaign team, I’d get him some hypno-tapes and force him to listen to the words of Newt Gingrich, Charles Krauthammer, and Mark Steyn all night long while he sleeps – maybe then Mitt would finally be ready to set the hearts of voters afire in his communications come October.

Well, we could throw Newt Gingrich in a tub of soapy water and scrub him down real good . . . or we could convince Jim DeMint to run.

  • SoFiMil

GM is alive. Bin Laden is dead. Repeat over and over.

  • grumpyKoz

The Univision interview is what happens when he is confronted with actual journalism. Yes, correct. If anyone cared. BUT, as we see from reality, this interview caused not even a ripple with the American people. As if it never happened.

  • gavinwca

Sure Obummer was lieing his jehadist Muslim lips were moving .

  • cwfoster

Even Univision softpedaled it! If it was a Republican President, those facts listed below the quote would have been followed up on as well, ad nauseum! And WHAT a surprise! The Obama donor who nominally works for Eric Holder who was conducting the investigation found NO high level involvement! I got to throw the “brown flag” at that one.

  • emjay98

Yes that is the truth. Newt Gingrich does have the ability to make his opponents look bad, but he had too much baggage that many found unacceptable, but that wouldn’t have stopped him from being a force to be reckoned with. Remember contract with America” that led the Republican Party to victory in 1994
by capturing the majority in the U.S. House for the first time in forty
    years.
