FRONT PAGE CONTRIBUTOR

Vernon Parker (R CAND, AZ-09) to deliver this week’s Republican Address.

The national party is kind of excited about this particular race and candidate:

“This week brought more disappointing economic news, and more reminders that President Obama’s weak leadership and failed policies have hurt small businesses and driven jobs overseas,” House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) said.  “We need principled leaders who will come to Congress and join Republicans in the fight to help create a better environment for jobs growth by addressing our looming debt crisis and stopping all the looming tax hikes which, according to Ernst & Young, could destroy up to 700,000 jobs.  Vernon Parker is an independent thinker and a rising star in the Republican Party who is committed to listening to the people of Arizona and restoring the American Dream.  I’m sure Vernon will do a great job outlining what is at stake in this election, and I’m looking forward to hearing his address.”

…for a variety of reasons.  First is that Parker was a pretty good catch for this race: he’s a local mayor with national experience in the federal government under both Bush administrations, as well as being one of the NRCC’s Young Guns.  Second?  His opponent, Kyrsten Sinema, is high-functioning crazy.

You may remember Ms. Sinema from a previous post: as the above campaign ad notes, she’s the one who called stay-at-home parents leeches.  In fact, this is one of those rare cases where the full quote was too awful for opposition ads:

“These women who act like staying at home, leeching off their husbands or boyfriends, and just cashing the checks is some sort of feminism because they’re choosing to live that life. That’s bullsh*t. I mean, what the f*ck are we really talking about here?”

So, you have to like the GOP’s chances in this one. Particularly since Sinema was a hardcore opponent to the Afghanistan and Iraqi wars… right up to the point where Navy SEALS double-tapped Osama bin Laden. Then she fell over herself reversing her position on the final disposition of terrorists.  Expect that to come up in the next debate, ya, you betcha…

Moe Lane (crosspost)

PS: If all goes well, we’ll be talking with Vernon ourselves later in the day; I just wanted to give folks some idea about why this is a race to pay attention to.

PPS: Vernon Parker for AZ-09.

Vernon Parker seems like a good candidate. He has the endorsements of some of my favorite conservative leaders: Congressman Schweikert, Congressman Franks, Former Congressmen Salmon (soon to be congressman-elect again) and Congressman Shadegg.

GO VERNON PARKER! Visit his website and help him out.

The media for this race is interesting. Two ads. There’s the “Vote Against Sinema” in a couple of versions and she’s running (House Dems actually) an ad with a grainy video of Vernon at a home meeting saying it’s time to shut down the Dept of Ed.

I have yet to see an actual ad from either candidate – both are running ads from their respective House committees.

Vernon’s a really good guy. Wish I was in his district.

I can’t believe any district in the country would actually vote to send Sinema to Congress to represent them. Bernie Sanders would call her too communist; Lizzy Warren would like Sheriff Joe in comparison.

Gamecock lives in the Georgia county that sent Cynthia McKinney to Congress multiple times…until she engaged in dueling editorials with me after 9/11.

Stay at home moms……leeches ? So, to them, the housewife doesn’t deserve any respect?
Gee, maybe we need to screw up the economy so bad that both parents have to work to pay the mortgage as well as pay liberal daycare centers to raise our children since we are never going to be home anymore to teach them our own Christian values and morals.
Oooops. Already DONE. Thanks Jimma Carta for making the mother/housewife an endanged species and starting the worst moral decay our country has ever seen.

I’m AZ and when I saw the commercial with Tea Party and him say that, I’m like YES! :)

  • jamesm

Wait a minute. This thread is way too too politically correct!! Kirsten Sinema? Man..i mean man or woman..heck..if she got elected she might be screwing over both genders. What does she lay for? I mean stand for? How do we know what she wants if she doesn’t even know?

  • tnfriendofcoal101368

Think a more radical, Liz Warren.

  • jamesm

I wonder who would wink at the other one first. Yuck. I think Sinema might want to include Scott Brown in some pillow talk. Where do the Dems get these upstanding individuals?

Shoulda moved to Marietta or East Cobb. Newt was my rep! Good times.

Actually I did live and work in Cobb off Windy Hill from 2002-2006

  • http://libertynews.com/ mbecker908

Me too. I went looking for the PACs telephone number so I could call them and tell them, “Thanks for the commercial. I was an undecided voter and when I saw your commercial I decided. I just sent Vernon $1,000 and since I’m retired I’m now working 80 hours a week on his campaign.”

Actually, she’ll be the first openly bi-sexual Critter if she wins.

Moe Lane, I have a question since you were talking about an Arizona candidate. And I really am not trying to ask this to hijack your thread, so please bear with me. How do we get a candidate on RedState’s candidate radar as someone to focus on in a “target race” or is it too late at this point?

And in this case, I would be talking about a local candidate in a race with potentially national significance. The race I am referring to is the race against the moron Sheriff of Pima County, Arizona, where I live. Yes, Clarence Dupnik, the same moron who attacked all of us after the tragic shootings on January 8th of last year that killed 6 and wounded 19 others including Rep. Gabrielle Giffords. Dupnik is the same hack who called all of his voters racists and bigots when he said that Arizona was now a “Mecca for racism and bigotry” in the immediate aftermath of the shootings. Even though the shootings were the work of an extremely deranged individual, suffering from serious mental illness, Dupnik blamed it on the Tea Party. He blamed in on right wing media. And our moron sheriff wouldn’t even shut up after that.

Well, now Dupnik is up for reelection & Republicans actually have a very good & extremely qualified candidate running for Sheriff. His name is Mark Napier, and I think you ought to look him up & find out if he’s someone who RedState could fight for. Since I know the Republican candidate for Sheriff personally, I also know that he is in serious need of campaign cash & that is why I think if we nationalized this race, it might be able to help Republicans everywhere. But he doesn’t have the financial resources himself to put up hard hitting ads attacking Dupnik for the terrible things that he has said. But maybe RedState could help in that department. Once again, I’m sorry for hijacking the thread, but I wasn’t really sure where else to put this, and Moe, you’ve always been my favorite RedState FFP, and I’m sure you’d have way more pull in the RedState world than I do.
