The Debate and Post Debate

Tonight, the President will try to come back from a bad debate performance against Mitt Romney one mile up in Denver with a town hall debate in Long Island, NY. This will be roughly at sea level, so the God-King should be okay altitude wise. The question is whether he’ll be okay attitude wise.

The stakes are high and the Democrats are not confident. Personally, I expect another not great performance by the President, but a media so hell bent on a comeback narrative that they’ll give it to him even if he falls asleep.

You can listen to the debate live on WSB Radio, my home station, and then at 10:30 p.m. tonight, you are invited to call in at 1-800-WSB-RADIO for a post-debate show with me as your host.

You can listen live tonight on the WSB live stream and call in at 1-800-WSB-TALK at 10:30 p.m.

Consider this an open thread.

“Personally, I expect another not great performance by the President, but a media so hell bent on a comeback narrative that they’ll give it to him even if he falls asleep.”

nahhh….tonight, Mitt’s going to go out there and win one for the Gipper…

  • jamesm

Low aptitude for economic policy, foreign policy or traditional American values. Altitude won’t matter. His attitude is almost irrelevant. There are few undecideds. Goodbye. I hope Mitt puts a boot in your rear. It’s the American way.

  • attyush

If the facts don’t fit your narrative, change the facts.

  • Repair_Man_Jack

THat was deep. Please explain for the rest of the audience.

  • fightnright

Chess players might remember the great chess movie ‘Searching for Bobby Fischer’. I’m thinking of the scene in which the actor playing young champion Josh Waitzkin is troubled. It’s the night before the crucial match; he’s thinking of the strength and past performance of the brilliant prodigy he must win against.

He turns to his coach in despair and says ‘I can’t beat him.’

I’m pretty sure that that is exactly the way the zer0 feels tonight about Romney’s debating ability, substantive grasp of the issues, and his own record of failures. Only this time things won’t turn out as they do in Hollywood for BHO, and it’s not gonna be happy-ever-after for the snotty know-it-all, aka the smartest kid in the room.

  • Locked and Loaded

I don’t know, Bush did so much damage, that sea level might still be giving Barry trouble – like everything else.

  • jjdcoach

The media cheerleader factor wouldn’t surprise me.

  • tngal

Finally—the debate open thread! I am doing an endzone dance now. Can’t use it much during Titans games so I use during the debates. Thanks for the livestream feed and (this just doesn’t sound right for some reason) GO Romney!!!!

  • http://libertynews.com/ mbecker908

Don’t kid yourself. O’s problem is that he’s sure he’s the best there is at everything and he’s dismissive of everyone else. See A Hitler for a similar personality trait. He’ll go to his death believing that.

  • PowerToThePeople

Now the tie color is opposite. Hate to see Romney wear blue.

  • fightnright

dunno…. even with a full backup squad in the press and at the podium, Obama’s habit of going into hiding for the past few months suggests there are beginning to be a few chinks in the veneer…

  • attyush

Einstein said it. In this context, basically Pres Obama would manufacture facts to fit his narrative – no matter what the truth.

  • paladin1

Rats! Romney’s opening salvo was not an answer to the question. Then again, neither was Obama’s…… The question wanted to know what would they do.

  • ohiohistorian

The President just responded to the kid who asked about jobs. The lie gets bigger every time he tells it. He has now created 5 million PRIVATE SECTOR jobs.
Levin had great data the other night. Total jobs added during Obama’s tenure: 557,000. Total population increase, 5 million. In other words, 9 out of 10 people added to the population do not have a job. I guess some lib will respond on births, but I can assure you that the birth rate has not gone up at all during the Obama reign.

  • Repair_Man_Jack

Probably true. Q1) A kid asks who can reassure him he’ll have a job, Obama accuses Romney of taking Detroit bankrupt.

  • tngal

ENERGY??? Really?? Obama is talking natgas and oil? I’m throwing a BS card on the table.

  • paladin1

What a lying hypocrite! Obama lies out his teeth as he answers the energy question and panders to the student’s previous question.
Romney is laying out the lies now…well done! Beat him over the head with the coal miners and with his own words! And the pipeline; way to go Mitt!

  • tngal

Oh yeah, Romney got the facts and figures right on energy. More drilling, more permits and licenses.

  • GregInFla

    My words exactly

  • paladin1

Obama is consistent all right; he consistently fosters policies that have jacked up he price of gas and heating fuel. Romney is now beating him over the head with his public land cuts for oil and gas leases.

  • gunnyg2002

Romney clubbed Obama like a baby seal with the coal miners own words! OUCH! That left a mark.

  • tngal

Pigs are flying. Streiff’s pigs that he herded for an earlier diary, are officially around O’s head flying.

  • paladin1

Obama’s rebuttal on fuel prices got a laugh from the audience. That’s a big clue but he is not listening.

  • Ausonius

9:25 Romney’s philosophy right now: NO PRISONERS!!!

  • PowerToThePeople

Yep, not sure who Obama thinks he is fooling by claiming the cost of gas was so low due to the recession and poor policy of the president before him. If that is what it takes to get a gallon of gas less than 2 dollars again, bring on the damn recession.

  • jjdcoach

Mr. President, I knew President Clinton…. You are no Bill Clinton.

  • fightnright

because R knows that the only way BHO can win this thing is if Obama lies and the MSM cheat.

  • jjdcoach

Yes, trust me the President does not have an active rotary club here in Wild and Wonderful West Virginia.

  • littlehouse18

Obama’s voice seems high to me. Looks desperate.
Mitt’s doing a great job taking it to him. He looks great vs. the mean, small man behind him. Staying calm and in charge. Great pursuit of the federal oil issue – obvious Obama was obfuscating and trying to distract.

  • littlehouse18

Yes, BO, we need to eliminate the death tax. It’s immoral.

  • paladin1

Obama on taxes: I choose to ignore the huge tax rises from Obamacare and my job destroying record of advocating oppressive taxes on the job creators.
Ahhh, Obama is back to the numbers game again. I hear he cheats on his golf scores and those are only 2 and 3 digit numbers. How can he possibly keep up with trillions???

  • jjdcoach

A question – Who is speaking with greater clarity?

  • commonsenseobserver

I’ve said it before: Obama hiked taxes and passed new ones, permanently, and tries to clutter up the code with temporary goodies to hide this. Does he think we’re idiots?

  • jjdcoach

The statements of balanced budgets and comparing to a 4 trillion deficit was powerful.

  • paladin1

Romney holds his ground, refusing to submit to Crowley’s hypothetical! Turns it back onto Obama’s record….Gunnyg2002 – Romney may run out of baby seals if he keeps stomping on O and the mod like that. Artfully done!

  • gunnyg2002

INDEED! He may have to turn to “beating Obama like a red-headed stepchild!”

  • partyof1

Can’t believe Obama is using Biden’s smile-shake-your-head-and-laugh tactic.

  • attyush

Q -> Equality of pay – Didn’t hear Pres Obama address it at all. He talked about everything else under the sun.

  • APA Guy

Man, Romney is a sight to behold during these debates. He has Obama’s number in a big way and is coming loaded for bear each and every moment.

  • michael_j_lambert

He has the gall to say anything about it when he pays women less than men? Wow is he full of it.

  • http://www.TerriersOfTheRight.blogspot.com Flagstaff

Romney just missed HUGE opportunity. Obozo mentioned something about “not taking a deal where you don’t know what was in it.” I would have jumped on him with “You can’t know what’s in the bill (OCare) until you pass it.” BIG MISS.

  • APA Guy

I was thinking the exact same thing…and here I thought Obama was the “smartest guy in the room”. Only a fool follows Biden’s lead on ANYTHING, particularly debate etiquette

  • http://www.TerriersOfTheRight.blogspot.com Flagstaff

The dial twisters are about two to one Obama voters last time, who have no compunction about claiming to be uncommitted now.

  • gunnyg2002

Obama forgot the one simple fact of life, “lies will never sustain thee.” He is getting exactly what he deserves, a real good old-fashioned a&&kicking!

  • paladin1

Romney obviates the Obama rambling with his Mass. record of selecting women for top jobs. Segways into his upcoming policies for equal hiring and scheduling smoothly.
Obama comes back to talk about women’s health care. Where is the moderator? Candy? Candy???

  • oldcoach

It’s amazing that there are people who still actually believe that when Obama speaks it is the truth. I’m not sure if he is even capable of speaking the truth.

  • http://www.TerriersOfTheRight.blogspot.com Flagstaff

The Candy Girl is supporting Obozo as best she can.

  • APA Guy

Don’t hold your breath. After Obama’s terrible performance last time, she’ll rescue him anytime she has the chance.

  • tngal

Of course he’s using the smile-shake-laugh. The Dem base loved it. We saw it as the condescening manner that it portrays. They think its “cute”.

  • commonsenseobserver

    Eh, White House pay!!!

  • fightnright

…in other news, dog bites man….

  • APA Guy

Agreed…was extremely well done by Romney.

  • gunnyg2002

Obama is a pathological liar unable to KNOW the truth. To him, the truth is whatever he thinks it is. He has been coddled his whole made up life and now it is biting him in the a&&.

  • tngal

And let’s tie Romney to Bush.

  • http://www.TerriersOfTheRight.blogspot.com Flagstaff

    Obozo wants to cheat.

  • celador2

This Lilly Ledbetter bill has replaced the 47% and Crowley chose that question. This debate is framed from a DNC point of view. Planned Parethood, contraceptive. Now an undecided voters is bashing Bush and fears a return to Bush policies. How does Romney differ from Bush, she asks. Note the question is not how Romney and Obama differ.
Man, this debate is a set up for Obama.

  • littlehouse18

Obama just stepped on Mitt’s time before he could even start!

  • APA Guy

Problem is, Obama wasn’t in congress…not sure that line would fly in a presidential debate when congress didn’t do its homework before voting.

  • http://www.TerriersOfTheRight.blogspot.com Flagstaff

She makes a nice fullback leading the way through the hole.

  • jjdcoach

Yeah that question was cherry picked for the current President.

  • paladin1

Romney hits it out of the park with his answer to the Bush comparison; then drags O in and beats him with the deficit growth. Great on the small business answer and pulls in Obamacare to boot.

  • tngal

Ok. Can we all agree Crowley is an alien? Like Mars or Saturn alien? Like someone who cannot read the English that the Presidential debate commission chose to write the rules of this debate with kind of English?

  • http://www.TerriersOfTheRight.blogspot.com Flagstaff

Of course Obama wasn’t in Congress, he was President, and he had no problem at all with passing a pig in a poke.

  • Kyle-MI

Answer should have been “spending”. Bush (and Obama) did not keep spending in check. I (Romney) will.

  • APA Guy

HEY! Eyes on your own paper, paladin1 :)
Agreed 100%…that was a brutal and true assessment that struck Obama in the gut.

  • http://www.TerriersOfTheRight.blogspot.com Flagstaff

Dial twisters are loving all the O answers.

  • wrenhal

Is there an actual live chat somewhere during the debate or is everyone just talking here?

  • http://www.TerriersOfTheRight.blogspot.com Flagstaff

O is now up three minutes.

  • APA Guy

We’re all watching and responding here…not sure what you’re looking for.

  • wrenhal

Now Obama is up 3 minutes

  • jjdcoach

What do you expect from pigs but grunts?

  • paladin1

OOOOH, Obama invokes the “extreme” word regarding Romney’s social policies. Really? Extreme? He must have missed the Republican primaries.

  • http://www.TerriersOfTheRight.blogspot.com Flagstaff

I personally liked the point where Romney told Obozo to cool his jets ’til it was his turn.

  • attyush

The tax cuts from Pres Obama? Sure – it is 0% because I don’t earn anything anymore.

  • http://www.TerriersOfTheRight.blogspot.com Flagstaff

He didn’t save the auto industry. Only GM and Chrysler are now owned by the government. Ford said, “No, thanks.” Go out and buy a Ford tomorrow.

  • wrenhal

Really hope someone is screen shotting these “undecided voters” to start hunting them down to make sure they aren’t Obama poll workers or union thugs.

  • partyof1

End the war in Iraq? Obama did nothing but continue what Bush started in the Status of Forces agreement that was decided before O even set foot in the WH. Obama followed Bush’s orders.

  • http://www.TerriersOfTheRight.blogspot.com Flagstaff

O now up 5.5 minutes. Where is my Candy?

  • APA Guy

Number of people APA Guy knows who work in the auto industry: 0
I wonder how many votes the “saved GM” BS actually wins O in reality.

  • wrenhal

Don’t forget that Toyota and Honda have plants in America and didn’t take any money either. If I remember correctly they aren’t union either.

  • gunnyg2002

They ain’t worth it. Romney is reaching REAL AMERICANS!

    Obama = toast toast toast.

He should forfeit the next one. He could not look any more pathetic than now.

  • http://www.TerriersOfTheRight.blogspot.com Flagstaff

Romney is hammering now. But politely.

  • jjdcoach

    Agreed

  • APA Guy

Remember, Candy cherry-picked the questions…so it wouldn’t matter if the honest undecideds were there anyway.

  • APA Guy

He’s surgically removing Obama’s 2nd term, Flagstaff…that’s how my wife phrased it :)

  • SoFiMil

    Obama’s Word Cloud winning message: GREEN JOBS…PLANNED PARENTHOOD…GREEN JOBS…PLANNED PARENTHOOD…GREEN JOBS…PLANNED PARENTHOOD…GREEN JOBS…PLANNED PARENTHOOD

  • jjdcoach

“We now have a record to look at” and then a few examples.

  • http://www.TerriersOfTheRight.blogspot.com Flagstaff

    R. needs to mention that OCare is not the same as Mass Care, when appropriate.

  • paladin1

Romney is now reciting the Obama promise failures that are ruining the middle class. Speak slowly Gov., so that everyone hears it. Ok! Romney invokes Reagan and beats O with Reagan’s record of growth.

  • APA Guy

Let him yak…look at all the good it did that idiot Biden in the end. Romney is dissecting him like a frog in biology class.

  • rpdavisx

This reply was an AMAZING fanny whipping served up beautifully!!!

  • mrmacphisto

Man, that answer on Obama’s promises and policies was devastating. Romney just kicked him in the nuts. And he did it politely too. Very expertly done.

And loved the Bush answer, especially on the deficits.

  • APA Guy

Thing of beauty…and as for Obama, he looks like he swallowed a t**d when Romney wails on him.

  • littlehouse18

This was a great response, and delivered so calmly. R&R: Calm, cool, collected, confident, and competent. And correct.

  • APA Guy

555…Romney has this “polite assassin” stuff mastered where debates are concerned.

  • http://www.TerriersOfTheRight.blogspot.com Flagstaff

That’s not Lorena Bobbitt, is it? Watch your jewels, guys.

  • jjdcoach

Boy…. “I’ve done everything I can on my own” this has some major smack-down potential. Yes it is…it’s scary when even illegals know there are no jobs in America.

  • tngal

No amnesty. No magnets. Good answers Romney. Pathway for magnets…ummmmm. Obama just looks to circumvent the laws.

  • gunnyg2002

Romney gave Obama a load of 000 buckshot on his broken promises and economy killing policies. YEOW!

  • http://www.TerriersOfTheRight.blogspot.com Flagstaff

    R. needs to mention that many of Obama’s “improvements” are the result of a huge recession. Less illegal immigration, less imported oil.

  • http://www.TerriersOfTheRight.blogspot.com Flagstaff

Obama never sat down with Republicans once. And he had a super majority.

    I like the edit.

  • commonsenseobserver

    What???

  • mrmacphisto

There is no doubt. Romney is an alpha male.

  • APA Guy

Think Flagstaff meant OBAMA never sat down with Republicans.

  • michael_j_lambert

    I think he meant obama.

  • paladin1

Great deliniation of legal vs. illegal immigration. Then dragged O’s immigration promise failure up fo rall to see. Answer Mr. Pres.!
O tries to throw Congress under the bus because he hates dealing with those pesky elected legislators. Now O throws up a totally lying version of the Az. immigration law. @#$% !!!
Romney counters with a repeat of the O failures on immigration and a clear explanation of his policy on immigration.

  • partyof1

If Bush’s policies were so bad, why did unemployment average 5% for most of his 8 years?

  • tngal

He is disciplining an unruly child. Nice job Romney. Plus he is not let Crowley walk all over him.

  • APA Guy

Man, I feel like a schmoe now for dissing Romney during the primaries. This guy is the real deal. Obama is going down…I can feel it in my heart and see it every day here in the Hoosier State.

  • http://www.TerriersOfTheRight.blogspot.com Flagstaff

Obama is still up 1.5 minutes.

  • mrmacphisto

That’s a good response. My main like was that he commented on disliking the deficits under Bush – which is my biggest criticism of the administration coupled with entitlement expansion and No Child Left Behind.

  • http://www.TerriersOfTheRight.blogspot.com Flagstaff

Looks like women are not liking Obama.

  • http://www.TerriersOfTheRight.blogspot.com Flagstaff

    See edit.

  • APA Guy

Closing the gap though, FS…closing the gap :)
And Romney is doing sever damage to Obama with this dissection…just look at Obama’s reactions when it happens.

  • jjdcoach

    Oh my Libya..

  • http://www.TerriersOfTheRight.blogspot.com Flagstaff

O really likes to hear his own voice.

  • littlehouse18

Obama IS taking pointers from Biden! Interrupting and stealing Mitt’s time with the help of the mod. Yet Mitt is still winning.

  • http://www.TerriersOfTheRight.blogspot.com Flagstaff

    And here comes Libya!

  • partyof1

so now Obama WAS in the loop on Libya?

  • jjdcoach

Romney needs to come up with a better answer than “I’ll do better” on the Libya issue.

  • fightnright

that is a good sign… R is known to be a strong closer, and O’s Achilles’ heel has been his lack of physical and mental stamina under continued pressure

  • tngal

Here we go with Libya. Sweet! Now answer the question, O. Oh no……I throw down my second BS card of the night. He did not come up with this answer.

  • jjdcoach

They just keep talking and hope that no one is listening on the rare times it is brought up.

  • partyof1

Obama used the casket homecoming of Ambassador Stevens as a political stunt and he accuses Romney of politicizing Libya?

  • paladin1

Oh yes!!! The Bengazi question hits O in the face. O says he ordered beefed up security after the fact. Then repeats the Biden mantra : I say what I mean and mean what I say. The coffin invocation…bet he has NEVER greeted one single coffin from a soldier or a diplomat in his entire career, except for the ambassador’s!

  • http://www.TerriersOfTheRight.blogspot.com Flagstaff

Hahahahah. “He takes responsibility for that failure.”

  • APA Guy

The kos kids are going NUTS over the fact that Libya is even being discussed in this debate…and they’re hating the dialogue…wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

  • tngal

What no mention of Hillary??? How many swords are there and who is commiting hari kari?

  • APA Guy

“I take responsibility…by tossing Hillary off the boat and drinking a martini”…colossal FLOP on that answer.

  • gunnyg2002

Mitt needs to ask Obama about voiding the War Powers Act of 1973 and then lying about troops on the ground!

    Thermonuke waiting to detonate.

  • http://www.TerriersOfTheRight.blogspot.com Flagstaff

Oooooh, Candy!!! You talk so gooooood.

    Where DOES that buck stop?

Who cares about catching scum. Why did it happen in the first place?

  • APA Guy

kos kids update: They are calling Romney an a**hole and crying about the tea party “plant” who DARED ask about Libya. Heads exploding and babies crying all around.

  • partyof1

The fist-pointing looks very odd, O can’t pull it off like Clinton did.

  • tngal

Candy asks about “the buck”? No you did not say it was an act of terror! You said it involved a stupid video. Third BS card. (How many BS cards do we get on debate night?)

  • paladin1

Candy forces an answer to the Hillary responsibility question on Bengazi. Then buffers O and corrects Romney over the video question? What crap!

  • gunnyg2002

The sound of liberal idiots wailing and gnashing their fangs is music to my ears!

  • http://www.TerriersOfTheRight.blogspot.com Flagstaff

He C’d HA at the time. Did mention it while claiming it was the video’s fault.

  • commonsenseobserver

    Obamaloney.

  • http://www.TerriersOfTheRight.blogspot.com Flagstaff

Comfort somebody who lost someone? Let’s get into Fast and Furious.

  • littlehouse18

WOW! WOW! Mitt just caught Obama in a lie !!!!!!! And O and Crowley couldn’t sweep this topic away soon enough!!!! That looked terrible!

  • APA Guy

Oh but the damage is already done…that one will be looped endlessly in the days to follow.

  • http://www.TerriersOfTheRight.blogspot.com Flagstaff

    Fast and Furious. Mitt

  • mrsemptybucket

Since 9 have been unable to get disqus to load, now at 10:15 it suddenly loads but I’ve missed most of the comments. GRRRRRRRRRRRRR

  • http://www.TerriersOfTheRight.blogspot.com Flagstaff

Candy has let O get up 5 whole minutes.

  • commonsenseobserver

    Yes please.

  • APA Guy

    I’ll update you, mrs…Romney is spanking Obama…AGAIN.

  • eddiethegeek

I KNEW we should have played the Osama bin Laden drinking game. I’d be under the table or throwing up by now!

  • jjdcoach

    Again, was this unexpected? :(

  • clowngirl

PLEASE bing up Fast and Furious!

  • commonsenseobserver

So Candy Crowley was answering for Obama.

  • tngal

really, I’ve had se…sears catalogues I haven’t enjoyed this much. (cough)

  • APA Guy

In all fairness, his handicap is much, much higher than Mitt’s :)

  • wrenhal

Technically only 3 because R gets the 2 minute rebuttal for the question

  • wrenhal

    Yeah.

  • mrsemptybucket

did i just hear Obama say “please proceed” instead of answering Mitt’s question? And then did Crowley support Obama? This moderator sucks in my opinion

  • rpdavisx

Why did Romney say it’s illegal to have automatic weapons in this country? It isn’t!

  • tyman

Yeah, Martha Raddatz would’ve been proud. After Libya came up, I thought Obama would’ve been glad to go back to learning about his pension.

  • gunnyg2002

Obama stuttering over automatic weapons on the street and Romney states that automatic weapons are ALREADY illegal! OUCH!

  • littlehouse18

    Here he goes …

  • http://www.TerriersOfTheRight.blogspot.com Flagstaff

    Another missed opportunity.

  • commonsenseobserver

In some states, like Massachusetts, it is.

  • wrenhal

Here we go… FAST AND FURIOUS!

  • partyof1

it is without the special tax stamp so true enough

  • mrsemptybucket

so far I have counted 4 times Crowley picked up the ball for Obama to make sure folks understood what he was saying.

  • westcoastpatriette

Crowley couldn’t jump to O’s defense fast enough. And the little whiner even thanked her. Disgusting. Crowley has been a disaster as are all of the leftist journalists who are in the O’s pocket.

  • gunnyg2002

Well, it IS if you do not have a license (Class III) vice not having to for a handgun, rifle, etc.

  • gunnyg2002

    FAST AND FURIOUS NUKE!

  • commonsenseobserver

    Yippee!

  • paladin1

The Second Amendment and O—Enforce the current law, re-institute the assault weapon ban, and teach the gang-bangers to sing Kum-bay-yah.
Romney brings parenting, jobs and responsibility, and single-parent family tobear….OKKK—Fast and Furious!!! Go Governor, beat him with it! Expose his cover-up!
Candy saves the O once again.

  • commonsenseobserver

So it is regulated and restricted.

  • tyman

YESSSS!!!! Let’s see how fast O & C can get this swept away…

  • APA Guy

Nowhere to run, nowhere to hide now, Teleprompter-in-Chief.

  • commonsenseobserver

    The ABC poll is garbage.

  • http://www.TerriersOfTheRight.blogspot.com Flagstaff

Candy can’t wait to get off of Fast and Furious.

  • mrsemptybucket

welcome to our world apa guy, glad to have you aboard. He is the real deal! Crowley’s puss is always so off putting, she just cut Mitt off AGAIN

  • kipling

Candy sweeps Fast and Furious away trying to nail Romney on the 2nd Amendment.

  • commonsenseobserver

Candy Crowley is full of garbage also.

  • tyman

Yep….there it is. It took less than 2 minutes…”Candy”. How will Obama ban AK-47s when they have F&F? I think that was Romney’s point.

  • mrsemptybucket

    yes

  • http://www.TerriersOfTheRight.blogspot.com Flagstaff

I think he is hiding behind Candy.

  • tyman

Boy, Obama’s got her name down well.

  • commonsenseobserver

Obama is full of garbage too. Evolution.

  • kipling

Obama: “I want to buy the world a coke and teach it to sing in perfect harmony….”

  • gunnyg2002

Mitt nailed it with a bipartisan bill in Mass on guns and nails Obama with a divided government. That one hurt and Obama came out stuttering.

  • wrenhal

    Candy bails him out.

  • kipling

What in the blazes is Obama talking about? What good is an education if the jobs are not there. He is trying to run out the clock.

  • mrsemptybucket

    ha ha ha, love it

  • fightnright

No, she couldn’t do that. Only the Lord can bring the dead back to life….

  • http://www.TerriersOfTheRight.blogspot.com Flagstaff

I still say deportment and behavior is more important than almost anything they can say. Obama goes over the time limit again.

  • jjdcoach

Or control the clock. Four corners.

  • APA Guy

Uh, you only run 4 corners if you’re ahead…Obama is losing this debate.

  • commonsenseobserver

Perhaps we ought to say something more about vets.

  • mrmacphisto

Mitt basically said I can bring to opposing sides together and find common ground. Americans in the middle love that.

  • focusedthought

I can’t believe the moderator backed up Obama’s lie! I found the transcript of what he said about the Libya attack the day after the attack. Not one mention of terror or terrorism. He called it a outrageous, shocking, tragic, and terrible. The closest he got to calling the Benghazi attack terrorism was this line: “No acts of terror will ever shake the resolve of this great nation,
alter that character, or eclipse the light of the values that we stand
for.” He just massively lied…and the “moderator” agreed with him.

Here’s a link to his speech that day. http://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/obama-fails-mention-us-cairo-embassy-free-speech-remarks_652214.html?page=1

I’m glad he finally mentioned “big” business.

  • kipling

Streiff would call it the cargo cult.

  • wrenhal

No one will call him on it either.

  • mrsemptybucket

someone has helped Romney modulate his voice a bit, it almost has that rough purr that the Gipper had.

  • wrenhal

    CHINA is a manipulator. YEP

  • commonsenseobserver

Nothing compared to some Democrats, of course.

  • http://www.TerriersOfTheRight.blogspot.com Flagstaff

    Thank you.

  • mrsemptybucket

and it continued that way. it’s almost done now and I honestly feel it was skewed toward Obama and the Liberal point of view.

  • paladin1

I love the “trickle down government” line! Great follow-up with facts and specifics on China currency manipulator. Then bolstering his economic program and dragging in passing, government regulations which crush business as well. Quite well done.

  • streiff

hey, someone has actually read my stuff other than my wife

  • tyman

The good thing is that most people who care already know. For those that don’t care, it doesn’t matter anyway.

  • tngal

Wow, Candy actually had to curb The President of these United States! She had to let the audience questioner actually squeeze in a question. Darn.

  • clowngirl

He’s been trying to interrupt just as much too.

And you notice that every time Obama steps forward indicating that he would like another chance on a given tactic – he’s almost always given the floor.

She’s also cut off Romney multiple times when he was on a role.

  • gunnyg2002

Listening to Obama is like hearing nails drug across a blackboard! What a poltroon.

  • tyman

By shutting him up, she probably saved him.

  • commonsenseobserver

    Jobs Council, Mitt.

  • littlehouse18

Obama is caught with nowhere to hide. He says it took a while to find out, but then Mitt catches him saying that in the Rose Garden he said it was terror. Yet Rice was still saying it was the video much later. Obama just inadvertently admitted that he put out a false theme and that he knew by the next day minimum that it was terror.
Could this be the crushing blow?
    Mitt is sharp.

  • mrmacphisto

Definitely. Bush was tame on spending comparatively. And Obama’s spending makes Bush look like Mr. Frugality.

  • tngal

Hey Streiff!! That’s not fair. We read your stuff. We have bathrooms too, ya know. Your wife’s not the only one who appreciate’s your wisdom.

  • supergirl2911

    How long is this debate?

  • http://www.TerriersOfTheRight.blogspot.com Flagstaff

I don’t think that is the comment that’s been distributed.

  • Ausonius

Guaranteed: in a few minutes the MSM will claim a comeback for MAObama, that he scored a “good number of points.”

  • partyof1

    Obama’s wrist, is it broken?

  • commonsenseobserver

Obama is full of Obamaloney about investment.

  • http://www.TerriersOfTheRight.blogspot.com Flagstaff

    90 minutes.

  • wrenhal

    90 minutes supposedly I thought.

  • gunnyg2002

    No, just limp.

  • http://www.TerriersOfTheRight.blogspot.com Flagstaff

I’m tired of hearing Candy’s voice over the others. Is she running, too?

  • Kyle-MI

Well, he certainly did better than the first debate, but that is a pretty low bar.

  • jjdcoach

BTW —- undecideds in NY? Give me a break. As one who lived most of my life in the “People’s Republic of New York” trust me ….these people are not undecided.

  • http://www.TerriersOfTheRight.blogspot.com Flagstaff

O has save 47% for the final comment.

  • streiff

    nah, just limp

  • wrenhal

Her, Lehrer and that other person on the VP debate. They are all running. Didn’t you know that? :D

  • ctredstater

for wht it is worth, my wife and i got home and caught the last half hour or so. Romney generally has that rich, confident executive voice. Obama seems desparate and annoying. I am sure he will “rally his base” (MSNBC commentators), but I think Romney continues to have momentum, my guess.

  • partyof1

    haha

  • streiff

I’m tired of looking at that cow.

  • attyush

Spot on. Romney is much more articulated and to the point.

  • jjdcoach

Hard to say how it will pan out. I think there are few undecideds.

  • mrsemptybucket

can i call her a bad name? no I guess i shouldn’t. But we all knew before it started that’d she’d not be fair Romney

  • mrmacphisto

I agree. I think the attacks on Obama’s economic record are very effective and bringing up the broken promises has traction.

  • supergirl2911

When Obama comes on I have to mute. I listened to about 10 minutes on the radio. His pauses are painful and contrived.

  • tngal

“Hey Candy, there are some jobs that won’t come back”-Obama. Yes Barack, they are low skilled, as you said, but you know what—we need those low skilled jobs as well as the highly skilled jobs you’re talking about and the in-between jobs. Because Americans fall into all three catagories.

  • http://www.TerriersOfTheRight.blogspot.com Flagstaff

    O ends up +3.

  • jjdcoach

Self reliance???? HUH????? He has a program for everyone who does not want to have self reliance or responsibility for their lives.

  • wrenhal

Doubt that even 30% of the audience there are really “undecided”.

  • supergirl2911

Where is even the notion of fairness (Dems love that term) if Obama Biden and Obama all get more time than Romeny/Ryan?

  • jjdcoach

    You called that one right.

  • commonsenseobserver

Romney should have brought up the Opportunity Society. Equality of opportunity, not jealousy.

  • partyof1

everyone should play by the same rules? So we should ALL pay income taxes??

  • paladin1

Romney has and exploits a great chance at the last question to show himself as a human. He does well!
O lies about his record, and closes with his 47% attack. No chance for aRomney rebuttal but he covered it as well as he could in his segment.

  • wrenhal

Fairness?? Best middle class??? What good is a middle class that is shrinking constantly and has NO opportunity to become Upper Class.

  • mrsemptybucket

we were wondering how many folks were like us tonight, employed in using the mute button most of the time Obama was talking. We got a perspective of Obama the professor with all the pointing and hand gestures

  • littlehouse18

Mitt looks a little tired, but he’s still dominating Obama!! Mitt’s been busy out campaigning, and Obama has been resting and preparing between golf games.

  • tngal

Ok, Obama believes in self relience??? Mr. you-did-not-build-this???? I need another BS card. I am out of them tonight!

  • fightnright

and this debate – for casual voters – is as much about each man showing who they are and how they say it, rather than precisely *what* they say.

    Yes. Most of the time.

  • gunnyg2002

    HEAR HEAR!

  • commonsenseobserver

Someone tell me what Romney said about Libya that was supposedly so disastrous?

  • eddiethegeek

Here’s the WH transcript from the Sept 12 Rose Garden – NO MENTION of terror!:
I strongly condemn the outrageous attack on our diplomatic facility in
Benghazi, which took the lives of four Americans, including Ambassador Chris
Stevens. Right now, the American people have the families of those we lost in
our thoughts and prayers. They exemplified America’s commitment to freedom,
justice, and partnership with nations and people around the globe, and stand in
stark contrast to those who callously took their lives.

I have directed my Administration to provide all necessary resources to
support the security of our personnel in Libya, and to increase security at our
diplomatic posts around the globe. While the United States rejects efforts to
denigrate the religious beliefs of others, we must all unequivocally oppose the
kind of senseless violence that took the lives of these public servants.

On a personal note, Chris was a courageous and exemplary representative of
the United States. Throughout the Libyan revolution, he selflessly served our
country and the Libyan people at our mission in Benghazi. As Ambassador in
Tripoli, he has supported Libya’s transition to democracy. His legacy will
endure wherever human beings reach for liberty and justice. I am profoundly
grateful for his service to my Administration, and deeply saddened by this
    loss.

The brave Americans we lost represent the extraordinary service and
sacrifices that our civilians make every day around the globe. As we stand
united with their families, let us now redouble our own efforts to carry their
    work forward.

  • krish

The only thing left for Candy Crowley …is to go out with the Obama family! Shameful display of moderating!

  • http://www.TerriersOfTheRight.blogspot.com Flagstaff

    What did I tell you?

  • tyman

I think some comedian helped with the “I believe that the free enterprise system is the greatest engine”. Now that was comedy! Maybe O has a future as a stand up comic after all if he can utter a line like that.

  • littlehouse18

    Only disastrous to Obama!!

  • http://www.TerriersOfTheRight.blogspot.com Flagstaff

And Obama’s comment about it didn’t go over well with the dial twisters.

  • mrmacphisto

Where’s the agenda for the second term?

  • lineholder

Maddows and Matthews already into the post-debate spin cycle. Talking about KO of Romney.

Didn’t happen. Obama didn’t present vision for second term. Just chit-chat. Won’t succeed in getting him what he needs to regain the lead in this race.

  • mrmacphisto

MSNBC is happy. The libs liked it. Not sure any swing voters came away liking the Prez more. Romney’s prosecution of the Obama economy was strong.

  • runner12

I think Crowley was biased both in the questions she chose and the times she bailed out Obama. The questions were perfectly teed up for lefty talking points. But she was no where near as bad as Raddatz. I think Romney did well and came across as clearer and easier to understand. I thought him a little over-agressive at first, but then he backed off.

Obama failed again to be specific on what he would do the next four years. Some questions he just dodged and frankly looked irritated at being challenged. He got in his stump speeches, but nothing in them was new. It was the same, tired old rhetoric. He did better than las time, but by no means one.

  • mrmacphisto

Exactly. I actually think Romney probably damaged Obama’s soft support with his case about the economy and Obama’s broken promises.

  • partyof1

ANYthing would have been an improvement over O’s first debate so they will try to call this one for him

  • wrenhal

He also was wishy washy on his greatest middle class crap.

  • http://www.TerriersOfTheRight.blogspot.com Flagstaff

Wolf covers for Obama. “No acts of terror will ever shake the resolve of this great nation” in the same speech that decries “denigration of a religion” referring to free speech.

  • wrenhal

He also took a play out of the Biden book and was smirky and laughing off camera a lot.

  • paladin1

The debate closes. Romney gives better than he gets and Obama takes some hits. Romney comes out on top in terms of accuracy. clarity, and truthfulness. O blatantly lied about Bengazi, guns, and Romney’s economic policies. His better delivery of his lies will sway the media, but I think there are very few undecided voters out there. We will see!

  • rbdwiggins

Worst debate format, ever… Crowley is definitely in the running with Gwen Ifill for the worst debate moderator.

  • commonsenseobserver

Trolls out in full force. Draw when taken alone, advantage Romney.

  • krish

Thanks for the post! I did not remember him saying that it was terroist attack! I think Candy Crowley was worse than Martha since she repeated the lie! It is about time Republicans ask at least one moderator from Fox News.

  • commonsenseobserver

Haha, liberal blogosphere full of Obamaloney.

  • fightnright

yes. Humans are pretty hard-wired to know when someone is lying and a phony, so it’s naturally hard to listen to. Witness how a even a baby in a stroller starts to cry when a person who really hates kids leans over the pram, pretends to like her and act interested…

  • partyof1

Romney succeeded regardless but I’m tired of these debates moderated by far left activist journalists. Why can’t we get one moderated by Jake Tapper or Brit Hume or Bret Baeir?

  • commonsenseobserver

    Or even Jan Crawford.

  • mrsemptybucket

heck, anyone except a moderator who is more concerned for their own agenda could do better than crowley

  • commonsenseobserver

I’m reading the Hotair comments and that Gumbyandpokey guy’s gone gaga.

  • mrmacphisto

Tapper would be awesome, but would give both side a lot of grief.

  • supergirl2911

I don’t think I can watch anymore. I will vote, but it makes me angry that Republican leadership sets us up to lose debates playing against a loaded deck.

  • http://www.TerriersOfTheRight.blogspot.com Flagstaff

I like children. With a nice alfredo sauce.

  • krish

Even though I knew that Candy will be double teaming Romney…it was tough watching this…..I lost count of the times she bailed Obama out & repeating his lies…..got so frustrating. I would like to see a person like Newt b*%$# slap these liberals more often!

  • kipling

I really find no value in these debates. Obama lies and the media will cover for him. I am not sure why our side even agrees to play upon a field so slanted against us.

With that being said, I think Romney won the debate against a lying President and a hostile moderator. At the worst, it was a draw and a draw will not cut it after Obama bombed the first debate.

The lies will come back to haunt the administration. The MSM declared Joe Biden the winner yet the fallout from his lies are still rocking the administration. Now it is up to our guys to press the truth.

  • http://www.TerriersOfTheRight.blogspot.com Flagstaff

She kept talking over Romney too, even when O was five minutes ahead in time.

  • jamesm

Romney won this debate easily. MSM will go into the spin cycle.

  • loupgarou1317

  • partyof1

Drudge headline: FOURNIER: Obama Tries, But Only Ties…

  • commonsenseobserver

CBS snap poll shows Obama win?
Obamaloney. But I can see the headlines.

  • gator_hoo

How is it even possible that Romney whiffed so badly on Libya? And that will be the big moment of the night. The media is going to put in the memory hole all places where he said it wasn’t a terror attack and just use the fact that he used the word terror….

  • commonsenseobserver

    Obama was just lying.

  • loupgarou1317

you know the kids have the bots running on that poll

  • SoFiMil

Candy didn’t realize it, but she helped prove Romney’s point. The President called it an act of terror. Yes, you are correct Candy.

  • lineholder

Actually, we’ve already got some of the MSM fact-checking the President’s statements on drilling (ABC and CNN) (Yeah, shocker, isn’t it?)

  • partyof1

This is why Republicans have to win by a landslide. Otherwise the MSM can direct public perception however they want

  • runner12

He didn’t. Romney was right, look at the transcript. O lied on national tv.

  • http://travismonitor.blogspot.com Freedoms Truth

I only saw the second half of the debate, but it seems to have been another 2 on 1 job, with the ‘moderator’ letting Obama talk willy-nilly while cutting off Romney when he has a full head of steam. That said, I think Romney did very well, a bit better than Obama overall, and only half a dozen Obama lies slipping through un-noticed.

BTW, Obama seems to really love him some Planned Parenthood. And the strawmen, always the strawmen with him.

  • Kyle-MI

Yeah, the debate formats are slanted, but the regular coverage of the race is even worse. At least in the debates Romney gets to speak unedited.

  • Craigpennsylvania

There was clear collusion between Crowley and Obama on the Libya question. Obama challenged Romney about whether Obama called it terrorism, and Crowley stated he called it terrorisom on 9/12.
Obama did not call it terrorism. He said that terrorism would not be tolerated, then went on to talk about the video.
The “tell” on this was his smirk and the way he looked at Crowley. There is no doubt this was planned in advance.
As people think on this, most will see this collusion taking place.

  • runner12

The problem for Obama is that he failed to outline his plans if re-relected. Instead, he fell back on stump speeches and rehearsed lines we have heard over and over. For this reason, I think he failed.

  • jaykali

Will be interesting to see how this plays put. Obama now says a passing reference to terror means he called it terrorism from the beginning? Romney got hung up on a gotcha moment that didn’t work. But this opens the door for more Libya talk which is a losing conversation for Obama. And just like Biden the administration is going to have to spin Obama saying he knew it was terror.

  • krish

My guess….is that when Obama told a whopper about the attack as a terror attack & would have caught Romney by surprise! I was surprised when Crowley repeated the lie! I started doubting myself if that were true…it was a lie as posted here! That would have unsetteled Mitt & he did not go for the kill?

  • tngal

Trolls? NO! I’m not loaded with troll-shot. I got some bird shot, Some silver for werewolves. Darn it. Moderator Bill got all my troll shot. And I was going to use it too on the AK47 question. Shoot.

  • loupgarou1317

yep, and they said it beforehand, she would be helping by not following the rules, so i expected this to happen

  • kipling

A good point… if you can get the moderator to shut up and stop changing the topic when you get some traction.

  • chriser

Who were these idiot “undecideds” tonight? Not one question on Obamacare but questions on equal pay for women and assault weapons bans?

  • runner12

    BIG BIRD!

  • loupgarou1317

agreed, seems like they were “picked” out before hand

  • kipling

If the MSM is starting to seriously fact check Mr. Obama, then they are sensing a turning of the tide. If this guy goes down, they want some fig leaves to cover their shame for prostituting themselves for 4 years.

  • loupgarou1317

hmm…..cant wait to see the spinmiseters try to make this a “win” for Barry…….

  • krish

good catch….makes sense…I was very angry that i could not pay much attention.

  • tngal

Stop — deep breaths..and pretend. Pretend you are an UNDECIDED. Because, theoretically, that’s what the audience was comprised of, undecideds. They had not researched or agonized, they only took on face value what they saw and heard. Now, look at it objectively. Yeah, Romney won.

  • commonsenseobserver

The individual issue polls will be interesting.
Mitt should start hammering Libya and Obamacare more, as well as drilling.

  • fightnright

you know what too… after tonight, libs will still vote lib and Repubs will still vote (R). Too many of the voters who are still undecided don’t actually know the difference between the truth and the lies anymore. They’ll vote for who looked and presented himself better tonight – and that might lean toward Romney.

  • commonsenseobserver

65% say Romney won on the economy in the insta-poll.

  • commonsenseobserver

Romney was solid, but not spectacular. Obama was full of crap.

  • celador2

Obama is still a hot air bag with no record to back up the last four years. Five million jobs created in private sector, really? who, when , where and what?

  • http://www.TerriersOfTheRight.blogspot.com Flagstaff

Not many undecideds left, I think. Crowd was packed with Obamatons, but some good guys got in some great questions;.

  • http://travismonitor.blogspot.com Freedoms Truth

Obama brought his whole BS deck. It’s like he’s all in on BS because, you know what, if it ‘works’ he doesnt have another re-election to worry about explaining all those lying statements and promises.

  • krish

I doubt if these are undecided! They are Dem plants so that more questions on women’s health issue other frovolous issues to distract from JOBS ….free contraceptives crowd…..gimme a f…… break when there are so many major issues…….I really hate this format…because it lets in morons aka Dems acting as undecided.

  • mrmacphisto

This is what matters too. The indictment of Obama’s record is huge and Romney got him on it.

  • lineholder

And also fact-checking on did he/did he not say ‘terror” in the Rose Garden speech after Benghazi attack.

But you’re right, kipling. Same thing we’re starting to see with polling agencies. I even heard someone from one of the polling groups come right out and say that most of the polls they do during the general election are intended to influence public opinion rather than report public opinion…until they get to that last month or so, then they have to go back to acting like they have integrity.

  • fightnright

next debate is all about foreign policy, isn’t it? If polls show Romney did poorly on those issues tonight, he has a chance to bring it in with stronger material next time.

  • chriser

    Agreed!

  • http://www.TerriersOfTheRight.blogspot.com Flagstaff

Joe Trippi called it a draw, so Romney must have won.

  • celador2

Libya was dowplayed and Candy Moderator rescued Obama one more time. Her bias was obvious as she pandered to special interests like women and Amnesty from a DNC point of view.
She gave Obama a pass on debt, high unemployment and energy independence.
They say Obama was more aggressive, so what? did he have anymore substance than in Debate one or for the last four years?

  • septembergurl

Hey people..get a grip. This is the lying liar debate with Obummer and the moderator lying. Romney was fine. Better than fine on the econ issues.

How about, next time, we get rid of the moron debate featuring moron questions and sub moron moderator?

    Mitt was fine.

  • supergirl2911

  • PowerToThePeople

Best thing that happened at the debate tonight, the Green Party president and vice president embarrassed themselves and were arrested. Got to love it when nuts get what is coming to them.

  • commonsenseobserver

Obama can forget about coasting to victory on the basis of a small mistake by Romney, especially with the next debate on foreign policy alone.

  • mrmacphisto

Problem is that everyone is going to look at the transcript and realize he didn’t call that specifically an act of terror.

And Obama saying he’s doing everything he can is not going to help him.

  • SoFiMil

Ahhh. See this hits home, KosKids. Your thumbs down reveals your inner-insecurity. Romney’s point was obviously effective.

  • eddiethegeek

Luntz’s focus group swung as hard for Romney as did the group the first time around.

  • celador2

Romney gets high votes and ratings from the Frank Luntz focus group tonight on Hannity with some or all Obama voters 2008. Many switched support and found he did not defend his record and has not come through on anything.
This group swung as much as did the focus group in Denver.

  • mrmacphisto

Luntz group LOVED Romney. Former Obama voters in Nevada say Romney looked Presidential – focus group hammering Obama.

  • supergirl2911

    I loved that!

  • westcoastpatriette

The most impressive part of Romney’s performance was how elegantly and firmly he answered the question on illegal immigration. I fully expected him to go mushy and pander but he didn’t. In terms of honesty, integrity and substance, Romney won this debate hands down.

Obama came out swinging but even with the desperate interventions of Crowley, he failed to land a solid blow on Romney.

  • loupgarou1317

    yep……

  • mrmacphisto

I think Obama got hurt on this one. Him looking testy and trying to make it like you can trust any promises he makes doesn’t work.

The messiah proved again tonight that he is the Prevaricator-in-Chief.

In between ums and uhs, he told more whoppers than I could bear without yelling at the television.

Sure would be nice to have a legacy media that actually does its job of calling Him on the half-truths and lies.

  • commonsenseobserver

No one will look at the transcript.
Everyone will remember the fuss about the video, though. And Las Vegas. Intelligence and jobs council meetings should have been brought up.

  • littlehouse18

I thought it worked fine. Obama saying to ‘move on’ looked very bad like he knew he was in trouble.

  • http://travismonitor.blogspot.com Freedoms Truth

Obama is a narcissistic incompetent. That types routinely over-estimates their own capaiblity. He will surely sleep well tonight thinking, just like Carter did after his debate, that he’s got it in the bag. He trotted out all the talking points that he dutifully memorized, he manfully talked over Romney, showing the MSNBC koolaid drinkers that he’s not above throwing politeness under the bus in search of partisan advantage.

What he doesn’t realize is that it is all in vain. Obama’s only hope was for Romney to so fall on his face that America recoils in horror from the alternative to the already failed President with the skimpy second term agenda. Maybe Obama spent so little time talking about his 2nd term because he knows he wont get one?

  • commonsenseobserver

Education was hardly discussed enough. Neither was the budget.

  • mrmacphisto

I think we’re going to continue to see movement towards Romney. Don’t discount how much him working out with two opposing sides in Mass will play. He hammered the President as a promise breaker with bad policy that hurt job growth. He talked about how much better Reagan did in a recovery. His immigration and women answers were very good too.

Obama looked testy and weak. Note too that Romney took the time to start the debate to thank the people who showed up, thank Crowley, and thank Obama. Obama thanked no one and just started attacking.

  • jjdcoach

Frank Luntz’ Nevada group reaction was staggering. U of Col survey gives Romney 77% probability of winning “popular vote”. www.campusreform.org/blog/?ID=4435

In truth, the Federal govt cant do much to make education better, and it was great in debate #1 how Romney turned around Obama’s lame “Romney hates teachers(*)” talking point to defend the 10th amendment. This go around, it was a more generic “education good”.

(*) This was because Obama had that ‘stimulus’ bogus govt money giveaway back in 2010 that was to shovel more money to blue state teachers unions.
Republicans opposed it, it didnt grow the economy, it just grew the government.

I do not think the MSM will go after Romney on the Libya portion. Simply because Romney was right. Let’s look at the timeline and Obama’s own words. On the 12th of September, he did condemn “acts of terror” but never characterized the Benghazi attacks as perpetrated by terrorists (a terrorist attack).

As late as the 25th of September, Obama stood before the UN and aplogized for the video and blamed it for the violence. No mention of a terrorist attack was made. For two weeks members of this administration, including Obama continued to either blame the video or refuse to admit it was a terrorist attacks. These are facts and the notion that Ms. Crowley would back up the President’s falsehood is damaging to her credibility as a journalist.

  • jjdcoach

The next debate is on foreign policy. This is far from over.

  • loupgarou1317

they will try till the next debate, and then the cat will be let out of the bag…..

Flagstaff – Chrysler has paid back 100 percent of the taxpayer dollars. I am a Chrysler-Jeep-Dodge-Ram-Ford-Lincoln dealer. Had Fiat not done what it did with Chrysler, I would not have spent $3 million in 2019 getting the 4 Chrysler Corporation franchises. The taxpayer not only was repaid in full, Chrysler, unlike GM, has no future tax abatements from the bankruptcy.
Obama had nothing to do with Chrysler’s success – in fact – he never expected Chrysler to survive. His arrogance on this allowed Fiat to purchase Chrysler.
PLEASE … and this goes to all Red Staters … do not confuse Chrysler with GM.

I would rather watch a Centrum commercial on Fox than Candy and her cheer squad on CNN.

  • http://travismonitor.blogspot.com Freedoms Truth

Really? Wow. Rush L. Made the comment after Denver debate that this was the Obama we all heard before, nothing new.

In THIS debate, we saw this before too, like when Obama lectured Paul Ryan. This was the testy, hyper-partisan Obama, bashing Republicans.

Obama was lying all over the place. His Libya answer was a rehearsed act of ‘statesmanlike’ dishonesty, graciously taking responsibility for failures his administration spent the last month lying about.

Romney being ‘corrected’ on the Libya statement is a BIG OPPORTUNITY to ask the question: What did the President know about the attack and when did he know it? When did Obama know it was a preplanned terrorist attack?

  • kipling

Good to see you lineholder! I have missed you guys.

No wonder CNN has the absymal ratings….& they think they are in the middle of left & right!

    Time to make the ads…

LOL..Perhaps I should have said that the veneer of journalistic credibility was painfully removed tonight. Crowley downright embarassed herself.

  • commonsenseobserver

Anyone knows what the CNN insta-poll looks like?

  • CarolT

Thank you, now it is Romney 58.3%!

  • ctredstater

it was classic. I laughed out loud. watch the replay – his nose gets about 4 inches longer during that paragraph.

“Undecided voter” Catherine Fenton may be same Catherine Fenton who was the coordinater of Code Pink in Long Island. She asked an explicitly feminist question and if it’s the same Catherine Fenton, she was a political activist in 2008 who advocated for Obama. See http://www.volokh.com/2012/10/16/was-undecided-questioner-catherine-fenton-media-coordinator-of-codepink-long-island/

Could someone link me to the White House pay story please? I think I missed it first time around.

  • mrmacphisto

Candy Crowley has now admitted that Romney was right on the Rose Garden speech but “chose a poor word”. So the moderator has pretty much said she screwed that one up. Mike Allen also said something on C-SPAN.

I think we’ll see that be the lead in the “fact checking” and they’ll all say that while President Obama did make mention to “acts of terror” he was not explicit in calling Benghazi one. If they’re even a mile away from fair they’ll mention his appearance on The View where he denies they were a terrorist act.

  • commonsenseobserver

Like the veep debate, this just stems Obama’s bleeding.

  • lineholder

One point I’m gathering from the comments made by the Luntz focus group is that the details Romney provided in regards to the approach he would be taking with taxes was information that almost all of them could apply to their own personal situation in one way or another.

And quite a few free-market enterprise small business champions in that group! I was glad to see them expressing an awareness that small business growth is the key to a recovery for our economy.

  • runner12

Kowalski: That didn’t take long. Crowley admits she was wrong on the Rose Garden speech.

  • PowerToThePeople

Not quite true there car salesman, while they have paid a large portion of the bill back, there is still nearly 2 billion of the original loan not paid back that Obama eventually forgave once they came out of bankruptcy and the government did own a percent of shares in the company. These shares never equaled what is actually owed even after the sale to Fiat. On just the money loaned to Chrysler between Bush and Obama, taxpayers have lost no less than 1.3 billion.

  • mrmacphisto

But the veep debate really didn’t. I don’t think this helps Obama either. He needs a full momentum shift and hasn’t gotten it. I think Mitt still has the Mo.

  • eddiethegeek

OK, I went to the WH site and listened and watched Obama’s Sept 12 Rose Garden speech. He does make a reference to “no acts of terror” which can arguably mean he knew THAT MORNING that this was an act of terror. Which raises the question why he was still speaking of the youtube video two weeks later. WHAT DID THE PRESIDENT KNOW AND WHEN DID HE KNOW IT? My guess is this – Obama knew it was a terrorist attack that morning, and his political advisors decided that day that they would spin this as a reaction to the video. Any way you cut this, he is digging himself a deeper and deeper hole.

  • Craigpennsylvania

Crowley just admitted she was wrong.

  • http://lukos.com Ed54

I did not like the gotcha attempts by Mitt. Every good trial lawyer knows you never ask a question that you do not know the answer to.

  • Ender

CNN just went over their snap poll that shows Obama winning 46 to 39%. They went over issue by issue, and Romney won very big on the issues of Economy (58-40), Deficit, and Taxes. He also won on all the other issues, including healthcare but by smaller margin. And many more thought that Obama attacked more than Romney. Obama had a 6 point edge on likability, and 4 with connecting with the audience. The fact is, this was a tiny edge to Obama on “winning the debate” but a huge edge to Romney on all the economic issues.

    I’ll take that.

  • kipling

Like the Veep debate, it may appear to stem the bleeding at first but then the lies will force new inquiries and keep the issues alive.

  • kipling

I thought it worked rather well. No one else will call Mr. Obama on it and demand facts. Mitt might as well do the job of the MSM as well as run for President.

  • ctredstater

WOW. the best indication that Romney really won this debate decisively. I could care less about most of these manufactured media polls. but romney just dominated in the Luntz focus group of previously undecided voters. Many of them made a firm decision for Romney. One of them – fascinating – said that she was “like many people I know – undecided – but undecided between Romney and not voting” – she decided to vote for Romney. all of this speaks to Morris theory – that the late breaking movement is heavy for the challenger.

    “chose a poor word”

    ha!!!

so now the Big Lie is synonymous with a poor word – at least in The Leftist’s Thesaurus.

  • APA Guy

Even John King said that if Romney is winning the issue of the economy by that large of a margin, Romney will be the next president. The silence of the rest of the CNN panel (including Van Jones) was DEAFENING.

  • lineholder

Did you see his interview on The View? He was extremely careful not to use the word “terror”. It was obvious to anyone watching it.

  • APA Guy

Couldn’t disagree more…not “gotchya” when you catch a liar in a lie.

  • runner12

Odd that Romney won all the factors, but “lost” the debate. That doesn’t add up.

  • lineholder

When was this, APA Guy? Prior to the debate or afterward?

  • whobeen

When Romney had the chance to explain the 2nd Amendment issue he blew it! Romney should have mentioned Obama’s plan to do away with ALL guns via a United Nations treaty.

  • runner12

And when would that be? It was Obama who did not know what he was talking about. All the Presideng did was repeat tired talking points.

  • APA Guy

58-40 Romney on the economy (CNN), 65-34 (CBS). GAME OVER…when one candidate whips the other on the single biggest issue of the election, he will win and win BIG.

  • mrsemptybucket

we always watch the Luntz focus groups segments this are plain honest folks just like us, we can identify with them.

  • commonsenseobserver

Mitt should be more aggressive on GM as well…

  • runner12

I found their reponses intriguing and reflective of something I mentioned after the debate. Obama has failed to outline what he will do in the next four years and how he will fix the economy. Simply taxing the rich is not a plan that means much to people who are struggling financially.

Additionally, you cannot win a campaign based on attacking the other guy all of the time. You have to actually outline what you are for, not what a jerk the other guy is.

Romney has done a great job of keeping it simple and explaining to people his plans for fixing this mess. He shows a good grasp pf economics and job creation. That gives people confidence and hope.

  • gflyer3364qt

When Obama brought up handgun violence in Chicago, Romney should have reminded everyone of the strict gun laws there and their ineffectiveness.

  • runner12

Disagree. That was a gotcha question and he handled it well. He needed to point out F&F, and he did. Did you notice how quickly Crowley tried to shut him up?

  • gflyer3364qt

Should ask what makes the auto industry any better than any other.

  • http://www.TerriersOfTheRight.blogspot.com Flagstaff

    After the debate.

  • lineholder

Hey, kipling! Good to see you as well. Yeah, I miss the old gang, too.

  • lineholder

Thanks, Flagstaff. I’ll have to see if I can track that down on video somewhere.

  • http://www.TerriersOfTheRight.blogspot.com Flagstaff

I’m hesitant to express my complete opinion. I’ll be gentle.

I think Mitt knows his own ideas well, knows the history of the last four years pretty well, and he is completely at sea when it comes to things Obama has said in the past. If he knew what Obama has said as well as we do, he would have cleaned Obama’s clock.

    He doesn’t, and he didn’t.

I don’t think he even mentioned the oil moratorium after Deepwater Horizon when they were talking about self-sufficiency, etc.

Romney needs to brush up on all the missed opportunities he had tonight, especially regarding foreign policy and the state department–those things will still be opportunities next week, but Obama should know that too.

Big Bag o’Candy still thinks they were playing to their bases–I half disagree. Obama was, but Romney was trying to explain to the 10% and he kept tripping over Candy’s and Barack’s tongues as they cut him off.

  • celador2

This so called debate was cherry picked by Crowley and almost all from liberal DNC point of view. Imagine if some Conservative issues had been raised that held Obama and his record to scruitiny..
Romney still managed to shine on the economy and taxes that will help small businesses and the miiiddle class. On foreign policy Obama has a few days to mke up more cover ups for the foreign policy debate. Bottom line the US was hit Sept 11 by al queda in Benghazi and he blamed a video if sending AmbRice out to five Senday shows is an example of a cover up.
The Frank Luntz focus group in Neveda switched to Romney!

  • http://www.TerriersOfTheRight.blogspot.com Flagstaff

The dial twisters on CNN seemed to like Romney’s answer on immigration.

  • celador2

Incredible! Candy the Mod herself picked that Bush bashing question as I understand how the questions were decided. It is an Obama talk point that Romney will return to Bush years.

Were there any questions on debt reduction and spending?

  • http://www.TerriersOfTheRight.blogspot.com Flagstaff

Thank you for the update. I would like to add… PLEASE don’t confuse Chrysler and GM with “the auto industry,” even the auto industry in the US. I didn’t intend to imply that my comment was complete or completely accurate–just to convey the idea. Obama DID NOT save the auto industry. And Romney is right–both Chrysler and GM went through bankruptcy and could have done so without government interference. Also, the way they did it, Chrysler bondholders were screwed, and a lot of viable Chrysler dealers lost everything to the new guys. Maybe new guys like you.

That’s what we mean by not liking it when the government picks winners and losers.

  • celador2

Bush lowered taxes to current rates. Bush left us a debt of four trillion in eight years In four years Obama have given us Six trillion. Romney believes in a balanced budget as the center of his administration, he says. He would lower taxes for most and help small businesses thus growing jobs.
Romney postponed a policy speech on debt reduction Gretawire reports tonight.

  • http://www.TerriersOfTheRight.blogspot.com Flagstaff

And thank you even more, PTTP.

  • http://www.TerriersOfTheRight.blogspot.com Flagstaff

    I agree.

  • celador2

Candy Crowley the Moderator said when Romney named Paul Ryan as VP that the Republicans must have a death wish. She performed tonight as a dedicated activist determined to throw Obama a lifeline to hold the White House.

  • disintelligentsia

It appears that Ms. Fenton may not be the same Ms. Fenton of Code Pink in Long Island (perhaps a relative?) – the Ms. Fenton of Code pink would likely be older than the person who asked the question during the debate.

  • disintelligentsia

I hate the bias that’s apparent in the questions asked and the demeanor of the “neutral moderator”, but sometimes I wonder – do Republican candidates intentionally do this in order to show a strong contrast with the opposition? If it’s clear that the moderator and the Dem candidate are playing for the same team, then Dem won’t be challenged and will appear weak and Romney looks stronger by comparison. I mean, I don’t think that he or his team are so stupid as to think they’d actually be getting a true neutral. . .

  • http://www.TerriersOfTheRight.blogspot.com Flagstaff

Why doesn’t it bother anybody in the press that the Obama story about the Benghazi attack doesn’t even make sense?

And does it bother anybody else that Crowley was so quick to get in Romney’s way when he was getting close to the truth about Obama’s statement on the next day?

It all stinks to high heaven, and so do journalistic ethics at CNN.

  • Craigpennsylvania

    Oops – I meant 2010. :)

  • Craigpennsylvania

I actually wrote a diary about what I would do for the auto industry back in 2008.
Obama did nothing like I suggested – I was much closer to Romney’s plan: Private bankruptcy with private funds.
And Obama was wrong about “saving the auto industry”, Rest assured we are in total agreement on that issue. What GM needed was a cash infusion and a leaner business model.
What they received was a cash version of Niagara Falls, courtesy the US Taxpayer, and they still need $2500 more per car than does Toyota.
Ten years from now, when GM is broke again, the left will blame it on some Republican.
