Obama’s Benghazi Investigation: Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell Still Lives

So as soon as we found out that the Benghazi consulate was being overrun, I was on the phone with my national security team and I gave them three instructions.

 Number one, beef up our security and procedures, not just in Libya, but at every embassy and consulate in the region.

Number two, investigate exactly what happened, regardless of where the facts lead us, to make sure folks are held accountable and it doesn’t happen again.

And number three, we are going to find out who did this and we’re going to hunt them down, because one of the things that I’ve said throughout my presidency is when folks mess with Americans, we go after them.

Allegedly, the Obama administration is committed to finding the people who sacked our embassy and killed our ambassador. I have my doubts as actually doing something would be a lot like work and there is no evidence Obama has any affinity for that particular four-letter word.

Were the actual failing leading to the attack not bad enough, the follow up has been a disaster.

The consulate and the “safe house” were not secured in the aftermath of the attack. Rather our departure seems to have resembled something from Monty Python and the Holy Grail more than the actions of a superpower that would be shortly seeking vengeance. We now know that sensitive documents, including our ambassador’s personal journal, were left in those sites.

Witnesses who wished to provide information to American investigators were not contacted.

The failure to secure the areas was not a temporary lapse. The tapes that recorded the attack on the consulate and safe house were not retrieved until three weeks after the attack.

This is a pattern of behavior by the most un-serious administration in American history. Rather than scouring the earth to bring these killers to justice, I expect the issue will be allowed to quietly die as a sop to the radical islamist regimes Obama has helped install in the region. In a worst case scenario, an empty aspirin factory will receive a cruise missile attack. If Mitt Romney is elected, bringing these people to account should be a top foreign policy priority.

    Either Biden was lying at the VP debate when he said “We didn’t know” and had been relying on intelligence reports which were “evolving” over the next few days or President Obama was lying when he said knew almost immediately that it was a terrorist act and said so the the following day.

    Not sure if by January when Mitt takes the helm, that so much intelligence has been muddled with, that the trail will be pretty cold regarding the terrorists who attacked in Libya. For me the FACT that Obama was out campaigning instead of in the war room on September 12 says it all. Lazy is a polite way to describe this president. Michelle Obama recently said he has no ego and is not arrogant. I found that an amazing statement. I still want to know why Hillary was out the day before this last debate proclaiming she was responsible, the buck stops with her. Rush has a write up on it but other than she likes to get men out of tough spots he didn’t have an answer either. Anybody still undecided after this latest “I said it before I really said it” mess?

    meb, we’ve agreed on BHO’s problem with working leadership before, but I just want to add one more note here.

    BHO and his handlers in the administration and the MSM have no real
    interest in what Dear Leader Obama actually DOES in the U.S. or in the M.E.,
    at least so long as none of it is associated with Obama himself. Only the
    awe, the glory, and the numinous quality of the beloved One really counts.

    That’s pretty much the definition of a cult of personality, and how
    such a cult works in worshipful false spiritual, philosophical,
    social and political followings. The leader is always protected and
    shielded, while others are periodically terminated, torn down and
    destroyed in his service. The fallen in general adopt a practical
    attitude when sacrificing themselves for the cause. They
    unequivocally accept that what is critical is for the cult ~itself~
    to survive.

    Obama, the celebrity idol who is the current front-man of the modern
    left, will never be implicated – or even referred to – in a useful
    analysis of the state of the nation by the faithful. The central
    goal is to keep the content of audience chatter on ~causes, not
    results~. So rather than on the disastrous state of the domestic
    economy or foreign policy, the narrative driven by Obamites will be
    adjusted to focus on scapegoats like GW Bush, low-level leakers of high level intell,
    Eric Holder (or rather his lackeys), or as of late, Hillary Rodham Clinton.
