The report by McClatchy on Friday obvious has spooked the Obama campaign, especially with a foreign policy debate looming.

When one does cut through the fog of Benghazi, as he puts it, we are left with the indelible image of a regime lying its butt off to save itself. In the Rose Garden on the day after the attack Obama blamed the infamous Mohammed video and called the planned terror attack “senseless violence.” Regardless of what Obama may have said at a single campaign stop reference by Drum, Obama mindlessly clung to the Mohammed film excuse for well over a week.

By the time Susan Rice was trotted out to lie for the regime, and suffer the same fate that Drum is suffering now, it was known that the Benghazi consulate was sacked by a coordinated attack. We knew there were no demonstrations. In fact, the Turkish ambassador was in the consulate until after 8:30 pm and left without incident. Intelligence has anticipated the attack as did one of the men killed in the attack. Beyond that, we now know that US drones were actually overhead during the attack video taping it.

Whatever Rice told us was not “the best information available.” It was a calculated lie.

Drum approvingly quotes Hillary Clinton’s statements without mentioning here quotes stood in stark opposition to the story pushed by Obama.

The bottom line is not conflicting reports as Drum claims but rather it is a series of mutating lies told by the regime to cover its incompetence. There was no demonstration. The film was never a factor. Video was available from the day of the attack to show what it was: a coordinated attack. Intelligence had warning of the attack. There was a wide variety of stories told by the regime with State being the most reliable and nothing from the White House faintly resembling the truth.

CBS News has been told that, hours after the attack began, an unmanned Predator drone was sent over the U.S. mission in Benghazi, and that the drone and other reconnaissance aircraft apparently observed the final hours of the protracted battle.
