Fort Hood Shooting Still Not Terrorism

Three years after Major Nidal Hassan opened fire in a personnel center on Fort Hood, Texas, the Obama regime has yet to declare the incident is what it obviously is: an act of terrorism. Rather, according, to Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta:

“the department is dealing with the threat of violent Islamist extremism in the context of a broader threat of workplace violence.”

Unfortunately, this is not trivial.

Because the incident is not considered an act of terrorism, the victims do not get combat-related special compensation that provides disability pay for medically retired servicemembers. Manning, who was shot six times, was recently denied such benefits.
The victims are also ineligible for Purple Hearts or medals for valor.

Stalnaker said her husband, Sgt. Rex Stalnaker, feels diminished by the government denying he suffered through a terrorist attack, and it causes him to doubt the importance of what he did that day. As a medic, Stalnaker treated many of the victims and was one of the last to leave the building. His uniform was soaked in blood.

The coalition has the support of two Republican congressmen from Texas, who wrote a letter this month to Defense Secretary Leon Panetta asking for the designation.

“Based on all the facts, it is inconceivable to us that the DoD and the Army continue to label this attack ‘workplace violence’ in spite of all the evidence that clearly proves the Fort Hood shooting was an act of terror,” Reps. John Carter and Michael McCaul wrote.

Should the government classify the shooting as terrorism, the victims and their families could be eligible for compensation and benefits similar to those received by families of 9/11 victims.

When viewed in the context of Obama refusing to call the attack in Benghazi terrorism for about two weeks after the attack one wonders why the reluctance. Unless he is afraid of being held to account for his lackluster record in protecting the United States and US interests.

    Utterly amazing.

GWBush could claim that, post-9/11/01, there were no terrorist attacks on American soil. If Obama admits that Ft. Hood and/or Benghazi were terrorist attacks, then he’s admitting that he doesn’t measure up to Bush.

Sometimes it’s hard to put a finger on exactly what is motivating some of the O’s conduct and decisions. I think his reasons are multi-faceted but of utmost importance is his need to appear competent and innocent of all wrong-doing no matter how the facts prove otherwise. Underlying that, he has an affinity for Muslims that makes him incapable of recognizing the danger of holding hands with terrorists.

  • way2gors

Romney should mention in his next debate that he will designate the Fort Hood shooting “a terrorist attack” and that he will ensure the victims are appropriately compensated and honored.

  • rogershru2

What bureaucrat decides how to categorize this, officially? If we knew we could call for pressure to change this. This is a good point of attack for Romney – multiple acts of terrorism have been carried out during his watch, and Obama would rather pretend they didn’t happen.

My brother was shot 5 times by this enemy, Hasan. These soldiers deserve justice. The government willfully sat on information about Hasan that could have prevented the attack from occurring. The gov’t has also failed these victims by refusing to acknowledge the truth that it was terrorism. These men and women are suffering not only physically, but also psychologically and it is being compounded by the government’s attitude towards their service that day. They deserve better than this!

Not only this should be declared a terrorist attack but the whole Obama Administration has been a terrorist attack. Obama’s policies have harmed this Country far in excess of 9/11.

  • Viet71

    Agree.

  • clowngirl

Exactly! And he’d also be admitting that a terrorist was able to infiltrate our military and to have continued access to our troops (despite MANY warning signs) he’s a terrorist who we not only failed to stop but who the military – under obama’s command actually armed.

If Ft Hood is acknowledged as a terrorist attack, then it becomes clear that Obama’s politically correct policies endanger our soldiers and cost some of them their lives.

If it’s just “workplace violence” ITOH, nobody’s ever held the President responsible for that.

Get Obama out of office, and we can get this travesty called what it is, an act of terrorism.

  • clowngirl

A common denominator in all Obama’s responses is that he always finds a way to avoid taking responsibility.

That’s subtly diffetent from wanting to appear innocent of all wrongdoing as Incompetence is not really “wrongdoing” but it is a reason to kick Obama out of office.

What frightens me is the question; “How many others are slipping through the cracks?” Because you know they haven’t changed the policy that let this pot bellied savage through.

Bet on Major Hasan getting a sweet deal in someway when Obama is on his way out in January.
