Maybe this is Gallup noting that Democrats are only concerned with Perception, providing them with a positive result based upon that observation, with the hope the Justice Department will stop pestering them?

It’s as though the Democrats and Left as a whole is predicated upon the notion that sufficient people will only scan the title of the book, and never bother to open it and read. And The Left never grasp it is they themselves who force people to pay attention, through their own mismanagement and inexplicable priorities.

Though I am a social conservative and no fan of Ron Paul, there is some of which I agree with you. Let me begin by saying that I think that when are values are attacked, we should fight back. No question. I do not think people should be silent about their social conservatism.

But making social positions the cornerstone of a campaign is not a good idea, for the simple fact that it will not change anything. These issues must be fought out at a state level and I think my fellow social conservatives are beginning to realize that this is where we will win the culture war. If make it the center of a campaign, the Left-wing media will demagogue the issues and twist what we believe into a lie. Thus we lose the opportunity of winning the social issues.

I think a candidate should always state their social conservative positions and never run from them. But the centerpiece of their campaign should always be one of limited government and fiscal responsibility. Oh, and it is not the effect of RP you are seeing. It is called the Tea Party.
