“The turkeys are hitting the ground like sacks of wet cement!”

Happy Thanksgiving, all!  It’s time for my annual tradition of posting the WKRP “Turkey Drop” video.  This is possibly the funniest scene in TV history, and definitely one of my favorite TV shows of all time.

You can also view the entire episode on Hulu!

I hope you all have a great day and safe travels today and the rest of this holiday weekend.  Feel free to treat this as an open thread — turkeys, TV, football, food …whatever you want to discuss.

It never gets old does it! Happy Thanksgiving!

It is THE quintessential Thanksgiving clip. Its a cross between a black Friday sale and the last election. “It’s like the turkeys mounted a counterattack. It was almost as if they were organized…”.

Could someone explain to me again why we all do the same thing….gather with family and/friends to eat the EXACT same food we ate 364 days ago for no other reason than pilgrims (who may or may not be related to us) ate with relatives of fauxcahontas (who may or may not be related to elizabeth warren).

I mean do we NEED an excuse to visit with a family member and have a decent dinner with them if we really like them? No! We should be able to hook up with family and friends, and thank God for His gifts anytime we want and make it in March if we are so inclined. Show them we care and we are thankful for their presence all year, not just the 4th thursday in Nov. as F. D. R. proclaimed. And if we don’t care for that family member, because there’s always at least one we don’t care for, why are we having dinner with them in the first place. On any day of the year?

And..if I see one more person cross this threshhold with their version of ambrosia or 3 bean salad, it will land on their face.

(Beginning to get a little cranky)

Thanks, Bill S. Me and my father have watched this episode while sharing a beer for about the last 15 Thanksgivings. I found the series on DVD a couple of years ago, and bought it for him, so we don’t have to watch that worn out VCR tape anymore. I’m thankful to still have him around for the holiday, and hopeful that we still have several more years to share our tradition together.

    Many thanks for posting this..

Did you notice that there are many lines in that clip that, after the past election are applicable to Karl Rove and the rest of the GOP establishment:

“As God is my witness, I thought that turkeys could fly.”

“”This man must be stopped before he ever promotes again”

“He’ll still be here long after we’re moved on.”

“Sometimes we’re all too concerned about being #1″

“Don’t you know who I am?”

    “It SHOULD have worked!”

BTW, I’ve probably seen this dozens of times, but this it the first time I picked up pn the “Oh the humanity” reference to the Hindenburg.

And lastly, wasn’t Jan Smithers absolutely GORGEOUS

Hey, how can you talk about Jan Smithers, when Johnny Fever is obviously the one who is so droolworthy.

They actually showed this episode back to back, like 4 times in a row, on Thanksgiving Eve here on one of my local channels. It truly is one of the greatest and most hilarious episodes of all time.
Mr. Carlson is like Obama, and the Turkeys are Obamacare. He honestly thinks that Turkey can fly, but happily, once it doesn’t, we’ll have a new President in a few years who will get rid of it, and won’t have to worry about it ever again.
