Do It For America

Neal Boortz is one of the most popular talk radio hosts in the country. I’m proud to guest host for him when he is gone.

January 18, 2013, is Neal’s last day on the air, after which time I will begin in earnest harassing Rush Limbaugh to let me be his guest host. Heck, I’d even change my name to Mark.

Boortz bought some really ugly golf pants and big RV and he’s going off into the sunset with his vastly better half on Inauguration Day.

As a parting gift from America, please consider signing this White House petition. Neal wants an hour of the President’s time to talk tax policy, particularly the FairTax. The White House says Neal’s petition must get to 25,000 signatures before February 7th to get a White House response.

Go here now. Sign the petition. Let’s make it happen. It would be staggeringly awesome.

Absolutely wanted to sign the petition. The president needs input from people outside his circle. Yes Men are usually dangerous curtains of dubious protection.

So, by all means one of our guys can’t hurt us at all and it may help the president much more than he thinks.

Love, love, love Neil Boortz, 110% certain we need tax reform – but hate the Fair Tax. Too much record-keeping, still involves IRS & a lot of room for fraud – those are first 3 things that come to mind. I’m a “flat tax” supporter. Should I sign anyway?

Mr. erickson, I think you need to read this Indiana senate bill we the TEA Party leaders have helped get a Senate Bill #.

So you are advocating that we slink quietly into deeper and deeper tax servitude. I don’t think I like that plan.

  • hayekwasright

First, I don’t think FairTax means what you think it means. Record keeping is dramatically reduced (mostly just retail level merchants and service providers instead of every US citizen keeping tax records). With the FairTax the IRS is virtually eliminated eventually. As for fraud, I can think of no system involving money that is not vulnerable to fraud. If record-keeping, IRS involvement, and fraud potential are your objections to the FairTax, I have trouble understanding what you like about the “flat tax”. Anyway, if you don’t buy any of this, comonsenseobserver has a point. Sign it and lets prompt a conversation if we can.

Obama probably won’t listen and I don’t think that Erick suggested an hour with Boortz would change Obama’s stripes. I am all for bringing tax reform into the public discussion whenever possible. You can ride the train of despair into that orange glow on the horizon with gr29az if you like.

Anyone else having trouble creating an account at the White House petition site? Signed up over an hour ago and still have not received confirmation email to complete the process.

  • Finrod

If your objection to the FairTax is ‘too much record-keeping’, then that by itself is proof that you have no idea what the FairTax is and your objection is bunk.

    Go go go Neil!

I like the flat tax. I like the idea of paying 15% for everyone regardless of income. When you make it, 15% is taken out. No Tax Returns and I think there would be much more revenue.

I also think that we would set the Treasury’s receipts on fire if we would lower the corporate rate of taxation down to a flat 2 or 3% on the gross revenues of the corporation. Think of all the off shore and on shore companies that would repatriate in order to pay that low rate?

  • cbartlett

wcp – I was able to the email back to get an account set up in about 20 minutes. Maybe you should try again?
I don’t know if the Fair Tax or the Flat Tax is better. Frankly, I just want someone smarter than Obama to talk about how the current system is NOT working. Good for Neal – more power to him!

  • westcoastpatriette

Thanks for the suggestion…I did just that a while ago and sure enough, I made an error in my email address (left the “a” out of yahoo), corrected it and it went through right away.

I don’t know which tax reform is better, either. Haven’t taken the time to study both options, but I’m sure either one is much better than what we have now. So, I went ahead and signed the petition trusting Erick’s reco.

While I would take a flat tax over what we have now, “no Tax returns” is hardly a feature of the flat tax. I suppose that could be true for those who have only “conventional” income streams where everything is taken care of with withholding by the employer. Even then, I expect that they are going to want you to file a return to sign off that you don’t have any self-employment income, tips or other compensation. With the FairTax the government has no reason or need to scrutinize my income. And the FairTax would definitely bring a lot repatriation and new investment to our shores.

If a family of four earns less than $32,000 the fair tax plan sends them a Gov. check. I much prefer the flat tax, but this is an improvement over the 74 hundred trillion pages of tax scam we currently have!

Send a message to the White House? You have a better chance of getting an audience with King Tut. The next 24 months may well determine the outcome of the America I have known for the last 75 years.

  • checkmate2012

Perhaps Morsi could act as a courier for Boortz.
I thought the WH agreed to respond to petitions with 25K signatures- and the response is “no”. The WH didn’t promise to act, just respond.

I have grown weary and very much annoyed by the criticism so many are willing to spout in regards to those who are taking action. Running our mouths produces nothing, taking action is what it takes to produce a result. Eric , I signed the petition. Anyone, willing to use their money and time to take action to stop the nightmare the libs have , in ignorance, put this nation in will have whatever support I can provide. These people bring hope, hope , that someone out there has the answers, the will and the means to turn around the train wreck this nation is about to exp. Tell Neal I said thank you for caring enough about this nation to take action on our behalf despite the fact we may not be worth his time, money or effort.

From what I can see, the America I have known and enjoyed most of my life is already gone, but may yet be recoverable. That America wasn’t perfect, but included a lot of liberty, the realistic potential of realizing the American Dream, and more other good things than I have time to type in this post. I would like to see those things return to America for future generations to enjoy as we did. This is one tiny facet of the broad efforts to make that happen. But Yes, The next 24 months are pivotal. I don’t think we should just step back and watch as Obama, Reid, Feinstein et al. do as they please for those months.

  • hayekwasright

You clearly don’t have a good grasp of the FairTax. As bad as it may sound, everyone (not just those earning less than some threshold) gets a government check. Do a little research and you will figure out why so many fiscal conservatives want this implemented including all those checks.
