FRONT PAGE CONTRIBUTOR

A *very* entertaining truth-to-power speech by Dr. Benjamin Carson.

I have to admit: Obama’s poker face is getting better.

He managed to maintain it in the course of oh, about seven or eight kidney punches that Dr. Benjamin Carson made about Obama’s policies on education, health care, fiscal responsibility, and bipartisanship (or, more accurately, the lack of that) at the National Prayer Breakfast.

Seriously, if you haven’t seen this yet and you have a half hour free, do so. And note: the cameraman very, very quickly zoomed in so that the First Lady’s expression could no longer be seen. Smart cameraman. Very smart.

I saw that video earlier, Moe, and actually felt like standing up and cheering a few times. Very strong on the potential of American citizens, how that potential is developed, how it contributes to building a strong society…and not a whisper that I can remember of how totally incapable Americans are of succeeding in things that we have to have government act as our nannies from the cradle to grave.

If the Obamas DO have a hate list, Dr. Carson is probably on it now.

THANK YOU Moe and RedState for finally posting this on the main page! (no that there was neglect!) I linked this speech a few days ago on this site while commenting, oddly enough, on proper messaging that connects: it always is about BELIEF in the message. Proper communication will naturally follow. Then the intangibles “kick in”—people know what’s right when they hear it. America has only had cold, old, leftover & “rightover” DC smorgasbord to choose from! Ben shows how to stand with courgae & grace…but only because he has conviction.

This was a great speech. Penny (or even a nickel) for Obama’s real thoughts.

My favorite part was the part about tithing:

“Some people say, ‘Well that’s not fair because it doesn’t hurt the guy who made $10 billion as much as the guy who made 10.’ Where does it say you’ve got to hurt the guy?
He just put a billion dollars in the pot. We don’t need to hurt him. It’s that kind of thinking that has resulted in 602 banks in the Cayman Islands. That money needs to be back here building our infrastructure and creating jobs.”

  • adumas

His real thoughts? I’m guessing that, around the 21:30 mark, Obama was texting in a drone strike for Dr. Carson’s residence…

  • maquignon

Since Barack Obama has been president and especially after his reelection, I had felt that there was no hope for this country, that the damage done by Barack Obama was not reversible. That speech by Ben Carson gave me new hope.

Dr. Carson is a credit to his profession and a great American. Watching Obama go from enthusiastic applause to polite applause, to smirking and sneering to just plain looking angry and disgusted was priceless. A very small man is listening to a giant.

Would make a nice infomercial for Republicans. Unfortunately, we don’t have the skills or RNC leadership to create much of anything that resonates with the voters.

As you watch the speech you see Barry smiling and laughing at Dr. Carson’s jokes when he first takes the podium; his nose and chin seeming to compete with one another for which will attain the greatest altitude. But as those punches to which you refer, begin to take their toll Barry ceases his applause for the Good Dr.’s comments, to which the audience, and even Michelle, responds enthusiastically, the president’s smile fades and the laughter dies away and, by the end of the speech, he is looking dour, his nose and chin fairly drooping as he almost appears to be looking at his shoes or wishing he could.

It is simply delicious to watch this pompous, arrogant, narcissist, ‘Smartest Man to ever hold the Office of POTUS’ get the crap kicked out of him by a truly accomplished intellectual. I’d say it’s a sure bet that Dr. Carson won’t be getting any invitations to the White House between now and January 19, 2016.

  • kipling

Obviously, Dr. Carson is a racist. I am sure it is only a matter of time before the all white political team surrounding Mr. Obama will point that out.

From now on, the “regime” will thoroughly vet speechmakers at all events where the “emperor” is scheduled to attend, and schedule him to be elsewhere in case an event has invited a pro-Constitutional American to speak.
Following the event, the “regime” simply tells their liberal propaganda media to “cut” any speeches out that disagree with the liberal agenda prior to airing it.

Dr Carson is a giant among men. He is the epitome of what is best about America. I read his autobiography years ago, and it was one of my main inspirations to go to medical school. To see an empty suit of a man like BHO have to sit politely, and hear his world views shredded by such an accomplished gentleman, must have been humiliating. I applaud Dr Carson for having the courage and moral certitude to shatter our petty POTUS’ echo chamber. Maybe our POTUS will think twice before demeaning our Justices or Congressmen sitting in the audience for his lecturing speeches in the future. While Dr Carson is doing God’s work every day in the operating room, it depresses me to no end that we can’t have men of his caliber in DC, rather than the career politicians and bureaucrats who seem to have a monopoly on government any more.

Dr. Carson’s statement about lawyers – how very true. We need “loser pays” in this country.
I work in a very affluent neighborhood in northern NJ, a retail business. Many customers are lawyers and I’m pretty sure most are good people. I posited this statement to one of them “lawyers go to places of higher education to learn how to argue either side of the coin with impunity.” He said “No, Jim, advocacy.” I said “If that were true and because most in service to this country (elected officials) are lawyers, don’t you think we’d be in a very different situation then we are at present?” He had to think about that.

We don’t live by the rule of law in this country anymore. We live by the rule of “Who’s law.” Whoever is in power makes the laws bend to their will.

In addition to being sound economic principle and a resounding argument for the “flat tax,” Dr. Carson highlights the moral imperative that everyone, rich and poor, must have skin in the game, and everyone must pay their “fair share.” Who are we to question God’s wisdom?

  • junglecogs

Moochelle was blindly laughing and clapping clueless about the good doctor’s message. She couldn’t see King Obama’s face. He was not happy.

  • funwithknives

Saw this vid. in bits and pieces previous, but ‘this’ was just a treat.
I might be broke on my donkey, but I would-a paid a bunch to have been there, right down front.
The grimaces and frowns from Barry were/are worth a bundle.
Let’s see how The SCUM handles this, or if they even show anything at all.

No, he won’t be invited by the White House again, but Dr. Carson should be one of the guys leading the effort by Americans to regain our greatness. Notice I didn’t say Republicans, I said Americans.
Most of the Republican establishment is no better than the Democratic establishment (remember America was so discusted with the R’s they actually put BHO in the White House as a man who has never solved one problem in his Academic career), they have different donors and their stump speeches are different but they both grow Gov’t.
As a partner in a company that teaches strategy in the healthcare marketplace Dr. Carson’s ideas make sense but they require taking on special interests to get them done. The for-profit insurance industry does not work, we have all the data in the world that proves it. Every incentive in the for-profit market is to grow utilization of services and then demand higher premiums.
The challenge for America is to find people who have nothing to lose by taking on special interests, educate more Americans on why the changes must take place, offer new solutions to America that force Politicians (I’ll use Republicans here as a placeholder because I’m not sure there are many with courage to align behind the grassroots of America) to adopt the new ideas as part of their platform or vote them out. Now, let’s get going, we’re running out of time. Think of it this way. If 1% of America donated $1.00 to a candidate he/she would win their Congressional race. If 10% of America would give $1.00 to a candiate or candidates, it would be enough to win three Senate seats. We can do this, but the leaders will come from outside either party and leaders like Dr. Carson give us all hope as we watch the nonsense in DC continue (in both Parties).

I’ve watched this five times and enjoy it more each time.
Finally this tyrant who scolded the conservative Supreme Court justices in his 2010 State of the Union speech for their decision on campaign finance law, knowing that they were powerless to defend themselves in that setting, got his comeuppance.

Paid back in his own coin.

  • macbookben

I had to watch twice. The first time just to bask in this incredibly plain-spoken and well-outlined sermon which reduces America’s ills to it quantum components. The second, to watch the Obamas get p#wned live and in color.

  • romeg

The reason that the for profit insurance industry doesn’t work is it not a Free Market, for profit insurance industry . Every other segment of the insurance industry seems to do just fine without the artificial barriers erected by legislators at every level of government. Were the health insurance market an actual free market there is no reason to believe that the same market forces that drive down auto insurance premiums would not do the same for health insurance premiums.

Moreover, the MSA concept is nothing new but BHO scrapped it in favor of his big Government, top-down restructuring of our economy. Conservatives must join together to drive the big-government drones, regardless of party affiliation, OUT of government and get rid of the artificial barriers and phoney-baloney Crony markets.

I am very happy to see that somebody in very prominent circles is finally quoting The Book Of Proverbs. This is long overdue. Learning and following after the Wisdom of God is our answer, O America. Nothing else is going to work.

Which is why we must do all we can to encourage more ‘Mr. Smith’s’ to run for office.

I don’t know if Dr. Carson realizes what a GIGANTIC boost to the morale of the average American he gave us all last week. He has a wonderful gift of speaking in a succinct manner..anyone with half a brain could understand his message. I guess I have to exempt Candy Crowley from that group…she was too busy checking the voter registrations of everyone applauding his COMMON SENSE approach to solving the mess we are in! My guess is that audience members of BOTH parties were joyously clapping their hands in appreciation of the good doctor’s ideas.

I second the WSJ’s proposal…DR. BENJAMIN CARSON FOR PRESIDENT!
