Have you ever been overwhelmed by the utter stupid that is ObamaCare? Does it ever just make you want a good, stiff shot of courage as a pick-me-up? Bad newz Sukkaz!

More than 600 part-time employees at the Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control will soon have their hours cut as the state prepares to enact the Affordable Care Act. Under the Affordable Care Act, employers would be required to offer health care insurance to employees who work more than 30 hour a week.

You see how that wonderful law expands coverage? Isn’t it a miracle! It’s like Nancy Pelosi told us, if we hadn’t passed it, we’d have never seen all the wonderful stuff that was in the law. Betsy McCaughey takes time from her busy day to share with us what we all win with Glorious and Regnant ObamaCare!

1) insurance will be a lot less affordable than Americans were led to expect, 2) fewer people than promised will get insurance and 3) millions of people who have coverage through a job now will lose it…

She goes on to help Dear Mizzus Nancy show us what’s in this wonderful legislation that was passed.

Starting in 2014, the law will require employers with 50 or more full-time employees to offer coverage or pay a penalty. “Affordable” coverage, that is — meaning the employee can’t be told to contribute more than 9.5 percent of his salary. For example, a worker earning $40,000 a year cannot be required to pay more than $3.800.

This sounds delightfully humane and liberal. How could you not favor capping what the employee has to pay and still be nice guy? Well, that particular blazing straw-man of an inquiry does not bother me for two reasons. 1) RMJ is pretty much on the record as an utterly unrepentant Right-Wing Tool™ who is immune from such petty shaming psychobabble. And 2) Lefty completely forgot to reference how much the actual plan cost as a whole.

This point number two is the deal breaker. You see M(r)s. McCaughey was also generous enough to estimate the minimum cost of each plan.

Start with the IRS’s new estimate for what the cheapest family plan will cost by 2016: $20,000 a year to cover two adults and three kids. And that will only cover 60 percent of medical bills, so add hefty out-of-pocket costs, too.

So the plan costs at least $20K, and the law forbids the worker making $40K from paying one sistersi more than $3.8K. As for the other $16.2K; I’ll give you three guesses who has to eat that and the first two don’t even count!

And Henry Waxman !DEMANDS! to know why the plans cost so much. Humor ensued when plan rates began skyrocketing soon after ACA was passed.

“Reports of premium increases up to 39% are deeply troubling,” Rep. Henry A. Waxman (D-Beverly Hills), who chairs the energy committee, said in a statement. “At a time when millions of Americans are struggling to keep their health insurance, we need to know what possible justification there could be for increases of this magnitude.”

Their justification, Congressman Waxman? Really? Why did Genghis Khan knock up women all over Asia? Thanks in no small part to you, they have a captive market. They could, you stupid yutz!

So let’s say the VDMV pays its cashiers and stock-boys 40K per year to work 30 hours. Working those employees 29 hours per week just saved them 600 X $16.2K per year. That saves The Great State of Virginia $9.72M per year just from their Moonshine Operation. This extended without loss of generality to all part-time state employees, and VA saves $110M.

So Virginia (and every other state or locality) now has a Hobson’s Choice. They can be meaner and nastier than even RMJ and put all those guys on 29 hours, or its Sic Semper Taxpayerus. You see how ObamaCare expands coverage to everyone across the land? Oh yeah, it doesn’t! 600 employees in Virginia just got their coverage retracted. Such is what we can expect as a result of the amateur proctology that is ObamaCare.
