Mike Lee Will Join Ted Cruz Opposing the Continuing Resolution

Ted Cruz will not stand alone. He’ll be joined by the Senator from Utah.

Here’s a statement from Senator Lee’s office:

“I will join Senator Cruz in objecting to Senate consideration of any Continuing Resolution without a vote on delaying funding of Obamacare. Defunding Obamacare is essential to restoring economic growth. At this time of fiscal turmoil, Congress shouldn’t borrow more money to pay for something we cannot afford. Although I would prefer a full repeal of Obamacare, we should at minimum delay its implementation until our country is experiencing real, sustained economic growth.”

“If we can see that, why can’t they?” They do, rules votes have been ignored almost forever, so the game which has been played by some “conservative” representatives was to vote for the rule (assuring the bill would pass as Leadership wanted) while voting against the bill – after it has become a moot point as the bill can’t fail to pass under the rules already passed.

Leadership allegedly plans to hold a separate vote on defunding Obamacare. Of course the “hammer” of closing down the government if the Senate does not pass the Continuing Resolution, and the President sign it (fat chance), would be gone. If the Republican “Leadership” will not take on Obamacare with the lack of budget money as a hammer, why should we expect they will do so without that leverage? The Debt Ceiling limit being reached, and not increased, denies the government the ability to borrow more money. It does not prevent the government from spending every penny which comes through the door.

I am extremely glad you are fighting this thing. I am so sick and tired of the dog and pony show that Congress has become. We cannot afford ACA now or in the near future. Tell Senator Heller I expect him to be fighting this thing as well in spite of Gov. Sandoval. Explain to him that the money is “free” now but in three years it will cost us plenty and we are in the hole in Nevada. Press Reid for a budget as continuing resolutions are just designed to keep people in the dark.

It’s Rand Paul time! Cruz had his back on Brannigan. It’s time to reciprocate…

Two of the best Senators in the Senate right now. These two were also the first Senators to support Senator Rand Paul in his filibuster of the Obama drone policy.
