The Weenie Brigade

Writing at 4 o’clock this morning suffering through spring forward I forgot a point that was worth making in my morning post.

A lot of the Republican voices screaming loudly that we should reject Rand Paul are often the loudest voices that we should stop talking about pretty much every issue other than the ones they care about.

We can’t talk about social issues.

We can’t talk about cutting waste from the Pentagon.

We can’t talk about tax cuts anymore.

We can’t talk about anything.

The very same people who want Rand Paul to shut up about domestic drone use, want the base to shut up about pretty much everything.

And now we see a lot of Republicans wishing we’d shut up about Obamacare and just accept it.

I guess I missed the memo that Bob Michel was back in charge.

I will not forget that miserable cretin boehner standing somewhere in the halls after Benedict Arnold Roberts threw us all under the bus and pronouncing “It is now the law of the land”. What he failed to mention was the “for thee but not for me” part since congress exempted themselves and, I believe, all federal employees from this horrendous law.

Yea, for them its about being invited to the right parties and cocktail hours. I mean the Lords and Ladies deserve their benefits after all…..right……right!

I remain a registered Republican in Florida only to be able to vote in primary elections. And I think that the 2014 outcome can be as stunning a victory for us as we had back in 2010 if we run consitutional, limited Government conservatives as candidates in as many races as we can.

Honestly, guys like McCain are just so old that he simply doesn’t care about the people who elected him anymore. It’s not like he’s gonna run for office again. All this sucking up to the press is just rehabilitation for losing the presidential election (which by all historical accounts, takes YEARS to recover from).

As long as conservatives continue to accept the paradigm that the centralized government in DC is the primary and legitimate one, smaller-government conservatism (a redundancy, I know, but needing to be emphasized, unfortunately) is going to lose.

Conservative media, by insisting on national politics as their primary focus, is feeding into this delusion.

The *states* are where conservatives and their media need to refocus their attention and energy if they are truly concerned about smaller government, and not just the glittery dog-and-pony show that is DC.

The biggest mistake was to elect John Boehner and Erick Cantor back in the leadership. Both don’t know what conservatism is all about.

    Michel – good comparison.

The “issues they care about” are getting along with the other side and “getting something done” in Washington. Never you mind about foo-foo stuff like principles and that nonsense.
