Does the National Republican Senatorial Committee Turn a Blind Eye to Kiddie Porn?

We can all agree that it should be a ridiculous question. But given the National Republican Senatorial Committee’s smear attacking radio host Mark Levin today, it is one that should be asked, if only to highlight the absurdity of the NRSC’s attack on Mark Levin.Brad Dayspring of the NRSC alleges Mark Levin entered into a quid pro quo relationship with the Senate Conservatives Fund to boost the sales of his book Liberty and Tyranny.Levin, like me, supports the Senate Conservative Fund and talks about them on his radio show, just like I do on mine and here at RedState. On March 24, 2009, Simon and Schuster published Levin’s book. It’s timing coincided with the rise of the tea party movement, coming only a month after Rick Santelli’s tirade on CNBC calling for a new Boston Tea Party.Liberty and Tyranny went on to be required reading in the tea party. People would show up at rallies with the book. The demand was so strong, it had to be reissued just a year later in 2010.The Jim DeMint founded Senate Conservatives Fund has subsequently bought copies of the book and gives them to donors.Brad Dayspring, the NRSC spokesman who attacked a Kentucky Democrat for her handling of a shotgun only to be photographed doing the same thing, alleges a nefarious relationship between Levin and the Senate Conservatives Fund. On twitter he claimed the “Senate Conservatives Fund spent hundreds of thousands of donor dollars to make Mark Levin’s book a bestseller,” ignoring that Levin’s book was a best seller well before SCF started giving out copies. So does the NRSC turn a blind eye to kiddie porn?Brad Dayspring, McConnell point man at the NRSC Josh Holmes, and Brian Walsh, a former NRSC staffer still on the payroll who writes op-eds attacking the Senate Conservatives Fund, are all in photographs with Ryan Loskarn. They are all good friends with him. One picture that had been on Loskarn’s Facebook page was of a fire pit noting he and Brian Walsh were hanging out together. Another is of him with Holmes and Walsh at an event. Another is him having a beer with Dayspring. Media reports out after Loskarn’s arrest allege he was to be in Brad Dayspring’s upcoming wedding.Yes, it is absolutely ridiculous to connect the NRSC and its staffers to Ryan Loskarn’s child pornography arrest. They just happen to be friends, drinking buddies, and colleagues of his.It is just as ridiculous to accuse Mark Levin and the Senate Conservatives Fund of a quid pro quo relationship when they happen to be allies in a fight and also happen to be friends. But if Mark Levin and the SCF are going to be accused of a quid pro quo, some reporter needs to ask these NRSC staffers who’ve been long time friends with Loskarn just what they knew about his private life beyond the bonfires and beers they shared.
