Allen West announces formation of the non-profit Allen West Foundation

Image

With details to be announced in the following days and weeks, former U.S. Representative Allen West (R-FL) announced Thursday the formation of the non-profit “Allen West Foundation.”

West, who lost his bid for re-election to Democrat Patrick Murphy in November, transferred $250,000 in unspent money from his campaign account to the foundation.  The same amount was also transferred to American Legacy Guardians.

In addition to the creation of a foundation bearing his name, West recently joined PJTV as their “Next Generation” director and has been said to be considering a run for a higher office in the 2014 election cycle.

A message left for foundation spokesperson, Michele Hickford, has not been returned.  At the moment, neither organization has an online footprint through a website or social media presence.

I love Allen West and hope he is successful with his new non-profit, but I sure wish he had chosen a different logo. Maybe someone could speak to him about it as I am sure he has no idea that the yellow star was an emblem that the Jews in Germany and Poland were forced to wear by the Nazis whenever they were out in public during the second World War. This was to enable authorities to target and humiliate the Jewish people as well as capture them on the streets to take them to the labor/death camps. So, the yellow star still carries a stigma to this day for many from that era.

Just an observation. As I said, I love Allen West and I am sure he has no idea of the history of the yellow star.

      NOT correct!
The Nazi star was 6 pointed, as is the “Magen David” which is blue on white field of the Israeli flag. Now a badge of courage to all “Jews”.

Allen’s “badge” is 5 pointed with a black circle behind it and his name boldly bannered center front on a black field.

My first thought (sans superstition) was:

“GREAT! We have a NEW SHERRIFF in town!”
Who better to shoot from the hip accurately, truthfully, and fearlessly.
I want to be this man’s “deputy,” where ever he can use me.

Allen, send me contact info to; shofars@yahoo.com

Yes, I know of the difference between a five pointed and six pointed star but the resemblance is close enough to trigger the negative connotations. Just my opinion and one that I know other Jews are sensitive about.
