Republican Party of Florida Chairman Dave Bitner has stepped down from his post due to complications from Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), often referred to as “Lou Gehrig’s Disease,” ALS is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord.  Bitner learned in April that he had the disease.
