What Should Congressman Allen West Do Now? Recommend His Next Career Move Here

Re-posted from PJ Media

What should be Congressman Allen West’s next career move after this breaking news from Politico:

GOP Rep. Allen West has conceded the election in Florida’s 18th District to Democrat Patrick Murphy, he said in a statement to POLITICO. The Republican had been challenging the vote-counting process in St. Lucie County.

“For two weeks since Election Day, we have been working to ensure every vote is counted accurately and fairly,” West said in the statement. “We have made progress toward that goal, thanks to the dedication of our supporters and their unrelenting efforts to protect the integrity of the democratic process. While many questions remain unanswered, today I am announcing that I will take no further action to contest the outcome of this election.”

Since Congressman Allen West has been a favorite of RedState and  PJ Media readers (and in the past I have been fortunate to have conducted two exclusive  interviews with him) let’s help him out now with some career counseling and suggest his next move.

“The future is so bright I gotta wear shades,” sums up my view of all the opportunities that will be crossing his desk. But here is my official suggestion (and one that I actually mentioned to West’s Chief of Staff, Jonathan Blyth months ago just in case the election turned out the way it turned out) and that suggestion is for Allen West to join Al Sharpton as co-host on Sharpton’s MSNBC show.

The renamed “Al and Allen Show” would be a point – counterpoint between two high profile African American “leaders” whose world views are 180 degrees apart and that would make fascinating television.

All the liberals who watch MSNBC might actually learn something from Congressman West and thus our national decline could be delayed just a tad.

If you have a better idea (and I know you do) just offer it here and I will forward them all to the Congressman’s staff.

Myra, with all due respect, that is just an incredibly dumb, downright stupid idea. Sharpton is a clown, a fraud, a hack, a liar, and a tax cheat. For West to associate himself with Sharpton, to lend an aura of respectability, of decency to such a program makes no sense. It would be a huge mistake.

I understand that your idea to somehow elevate the public discourse has its genesis in the concept that “a rising tide raises all boats.” However, it can also be expressed as “s**t floats,” which I fear would be the case here.

Recall that it only took a few weeks for Kathleen Parker ( who would not make Red State’s list of top 100 influential media conservatives) to realize that she had made a REALLY BIG mistake climbing into the cable TV bed with low-life like Eliot Spitzer. West/Sharpton, or your cutsie “Al and Allen ” show, would be far, far worse.

Lie down with dogs…well, you know…

    BTW, Happy Thanksgiving!!

The viewing auduience of MSNBC is only interested in what ‘Progressivism Is’ , that particular week, or any other.
They’re not interested [in the least] in anything Rep. West has to say, nor anyone else who is not ‘Them’. He’s gonna be treated worse than a dog. Why walk into that?
Debate with The Reverend Lyin’ Al Sharpton? Scrubbing yourself off, after each encounter would have all your skin off by the first Friday of the first week’s experiences.
Allen West is an astute intellectual with a vast knowledge of Islam, Defense, and American History, among other topics.
How about something on the order of The Judge’s cancelled Fox show,
“Freedom Watch”? There’s a built-in viewership here and that’s not really in dispute.
This has been: My Two Cents/$0.02.
Allen, we’ll be seeing you, and no doubts here on that account.

I would love to have Allen West remain on the national stage! He was a fantastic congressman and great advocate for the conservative movement. I hope to see him around. I hope he tackles speaking engagements in the next step of his career.

But the great thing about being a conservative, Republican and all of the above is that government is not the only option to Rep. Allen West. The private sector offers us the chance to both make money and prosper. I’d hate to see him go down that road — but if he does, the best of luck to him.

In a word, Organize. West should get ready to take his seat back in the 2014 midterms.
The guy who was awarded this race is a little squirt, with no stature or real accomplishiment. While I would agree with probably 90% of what Congressman West has said over the last two years, he was occasionally too shrill, in a way that apparently turned off some voters….e.g., suggesting that there are dozens of Communists in the House. He needs to be more disciplined, and take it down a notch.
We lost a handful of races by really small margins, and I hope all these good people try again in 2014: West, Mia Love, and Martha McSally here in Tucson can probably win next time out. Off-year elections are much more favorable to the party out of power, witness 2010.
