I’ve come to the conclusion that the Western welfare states are now hard wired to do nothing until they hit the edge of collapse. Witness Greece, UK, Iceland, Portugal, Spain, Ireland, etc. The pied piper siren song of “something for nothing” is just too appealing to resist until near collapse ensues, which it inevitably does.

It seems to me that Jimmy Carter had his heart in the right place. Even if he was doing something stupid (which was often), I felt that he thought he was doing good.

Obama is either incredibly stupid or else he really is trying to knock the US down to Greek/Ireland/Portugal status if not all the way down to third-world status. He’s done almost nothing good, even when it’s clear what he’s doing is bad for the country.

barak has a strange desire to bring the US down to the level of most nations. Therefore, he cares nothing about the dollar value vs other currencies.
