MEMBER DIARY

Remind the Speaker Who Really Influences Votes – You

Last August, you went to public forums and town halls across the country to hold your members of Congress accountable for their votes. You made your firm opposition to a government takeover of health care crystal clear. And on September 12, hundreds of thousands of you descended upon Washington to say once again that you would not be ignored.

Congress took notice. But now, Speaker Pelosi and other top Democrats in Congress think you’ve been lulled to sleep.

As they try to secure votes with deals for individual members, Democrat leaders are attempting to create a sense of momentum by claiming they have the necessary 218 votes for passage in the House. They want you to think a government takeover of health care is inevitable. They want you to throw in the towel.

Don’t let them fool you.

The substance of the Democrats’ plan hasn’t changed since August. Their government-run plan will still drive private insurance out of business – reducing the quality and availability of care. Their myriad of new bureaucracies will still come between patients and doctors. Their individual mandate will still limit choice and innovation. Their employer mandate and new taxes will still eradicate jobs and decrease prosperity. Their dismissal of real medical liability reform will still leave patients with higher health care costs.

There is no momentum for this plan among the American public. In fact, a recent Gallup poll shows the exact opposite.

“Compared with last month, Americans have become more likely to say the costs their family pays for healthcare will get worse if a healthcare bill passes. Forty-nine percent of Americans say this, up from 42% in September. Meanwhile, the percentage who expect their costs to improve is unchanged.”

“In addition to costs, a greater percentage of Americans now compared with last month also expect their healthcare situation to get worse in terms of the quality of care they receive (from 33% in September to 39%), their healthcare coverage (from 33% to 37%), and the insurance company requirements they have to meet to get certain treatments covered (from 38% to 46%).”

The more Americans learn about the Democrats’ plan, the less they like it. The real problem evident in the Gallup data is the number of undecideds.

The Republican Study Committee has fought tirelessly to inform the public about the dangers of a government takeover of health care and the need for patient-centered reforms like H.R. 3400, the Empowering Patients First Act.

We will keep fighting, but we need you to remain engaged and active in this process. Don’t believe the hype coming from Speaker Pelosi and Senator Reid. We have the momentum. We can win this fight.

    [from Conservative Candidates (the Diary)]
the “Republican Revolution” of the 90′s was mislabeled, it was really the “CONSERVATIVE Revolution” and it brought Republicans to power; likewise, it was the “Reagan Conservative” Revolution, not a Republican Revolution. Many Republicans forgot that along the way. That led the way for CINO Democrats to lie their way back into power, but it was a “Conservative” co-opted (read: they lied about their intent) that voters allowed themselves to be duped into. Republicans need to REMEMBER that! Conservatism did NOT lose Elections, bad Politicians (with R’s beside their name) did!

the Conservative Revolution will ONLY be repeated by Conservatives working within the GOP (and its Conservative Platform) and ensure its Leadership is controlled by fellow Conservatives!

Daniel Hannan (British MEP) – mbecker’s: What the Leader of the Republican Party should sound like! Productive vs non-Productive sectors of the Economy same here as in UK. WE STILL DON’T HEAR THESE THINGS FROM OUR LEADERS!!!

Republicans must be the Party of NO [to Bigger Govt.] not the Party of SLOW[er Liberal Incremental-ism]

Why are we only hearing these things at TEApeats? and not seeing any of it in action?

Write a bill doing what needs to be done on healthcare.

    1. Tort reform

    2. Allowing insurance to cross state lines

    3. Clean up regulations to make it so doctors don’t need to be lawyers to do their jobs.

Then, get the bright folks at Heritage and Cato to document what it would mean to the consumer, then sell it to the American people and don’t give an inch for anything. And every time the subject comes up, talk about your bill.

For those Republican politicians that follow this blog and are reading these remarks, I think this is pretty clear.

You can have A Tsunami of a grassroots base..but you need to reach down, grab your ears and pull until you see daylight.
lead your battles from the front. LEAD BY EXAMPLE! Compromise is good..but you’ve compromised your integrity and much of the constitution away already. folks are done with that.
we’ve seen 2nd amendment rights compromised away in many states, We see Obama now pressing to control 1st amendment rights, not only in the press but on the internet.
He’s negated private contracts…and you let him.
How many Republicans voted for Tarp, while your constituents were screaming no?

You’ve been so busy doing things that have nothing to do with government that you’ve let it erode to the point where we have to step in. we put our trust in you folks to do what needs to be done and what do we find? our elected leaders are finding their “soulmates” or they’re getting caught with prostitutes, or they’re busy playing the political games so that they can stay in Washington with just ONE more re-election…if you’re working so hard in our interests you wouldn’t have these problems.
we’ve seen corruption in the republican party ..mainly because you refuse to deal with the politicians that party it up at our expense, all the while giving in to bigger government and less individual freedom.
and now you expect us to JOIN you in fettering our countrymen? “oh come on..help us out!!” You’d do better to sandpaper your butts and slide down a road flare.

Better that we clean out those that are rooting around at the trough and put folks in there that are willing to do what is right without worrying about the next election because they understand that this isn’t a career but a civic duty that you happen to get paid for.
when those with Potomac fever are gone, you’ll have an unbelievable voter base!
the alternative is to sit on your hands and blame the voters and find yourselves in the soup lines when time comes to vote.
LISTEN to your constituents! if you can’t find the time, or the manpower, rest assured, we’ll find someone that will (people like Rubio and Hoffman)and the Republican party will be a footnote on a dusty shelf somewhere. If they fail? well, there’s 300 million Americans..I’m willing to bet we can find a few honest folks to look after our interests.
If you don’t like that, then we’ll be happy to call you a waaahmbulance.

If you buy something, expect to get it. trouble is no different.

These are times for saying things plainly… we appreciate the pep talk… BUT YOU DO REALIZE… YOU’RE PREACHING TO THE CHOIR.

Do us a favor… And warn your fellows that the conservatives will demand more from all primaries, and many many many moderates, libertarians, and independents will look to “throw the bum out” for going along with ANY of these spending bills…

AMERICANS are feeling the pinch… and it doesn’t take any economics training to convince the voting public that spending/taxing/more spending… is going to make things better or give any of us HOPE.

The intellectual debate and posturing is foolish and untimely… there is a line drawn and its getting more and more visible… You’re either against spending, or you’re with Obama… Choose ye this day whom ye will serve!!!

Thank you for working on this, now… go send this POST to ALL of your constituents, and ask them to forward it to ALL of their friends.

if every citizen contacting congress now could, truthfully, say either

“?I am a conservative Republican Party precinct committeeman and I am doing everything in my power to recruit all other conservatives to come into the Republican Party as precinct committeemen to make sure you lose your attempt to get reelected,?

    or

?I am a conservative Republican and I am have already contacted my local Republican Party organization to become a precinct committeeman and I am doing everything in my power to recruit all other conservatives to come into the Republican Party as precinct committeemen to make sure you lose your attempt to get reelected.?

Why don’t you say this? To this conservative audience?

Why didn’t you say this when you spoke to the 9-12-2009 rally in DC? To that conservative audience. You, Mike Pence and Jim DeMint said not one word about this. Why not? (I think I know why.)

With the Republican Party having had one-half of its precinct committeeman slots nationwide vacant in the 2008 election cycle, the incumbents know their main adversary party, our party, is at half strength and, therefore, a ?paper tiger? that is horrible at getting out the vote. They also know that many foolish independents would flock to a third party candidates who would profess to be more conservative than the ?Democrat Lite? moderate Republican Party offerings. We conservatives have to unite WITHIN the Republican Party. To change its leadership. To change the outcome of the primaries, sending REAL conservatives into the general elections.

Conservatives, want to put some teeth in the threats? Then help turn the Republican Party into a full-strength, solid conservative political powerhouse at the grass roots. That?s accomplished by conservatives actually joining the Party at the grass roots. Change the status quo NOW from a Party at half strength with a fifty-fifty split between conservatives and moderates into a full-strength political powerhouse with a 75 per cent to 25 per cent split between conservatives and moderates.

Nobody else is going to do it. As Moe Lane says, don?t expect the cavalry to do it. We?re the cavalry. If you want to save your country, you best become a Republican Party precinct committeeman NOW. Crossing your fingers and hoping for change will not get it done in 2010. Empty threats will not move the congresscritters now. Put telling them you’re joining the Party as a PC might.

If you’re going to write letters and send faxes, great, but but some real TEETH in them.

The Constitution begins with ?we the people.? With half of the precinct committeeman slots in the Republican Party in the 2008 election cycle having been vacant, I submit that ?we the people? who have not been fighting to get into the real political ball game of party politics have let our country, our Founders and our posterity down. We have gotten the government our apathy and inaction deserve.

Conservatives, the Republican Party is the main adversary of the Democrat Party. It was at half strength in 2008. And had about 50 per cent of its precinct committeemen of the ?moderate? McCain persuasion. Look at the leadership that those PCs elected. Look at the candidates that made it to the general elections. Want more conservative leaders and spokesmen? More conservatives winning the primary contests? Then DO SOMETHING about it. Become a precinct committeeman. NOW! There are plenty of open slots. If all the slots are filled with moderates. challenge them. Get off your duffs and get into the Party if you haven?t already. Nobody else is going to do it. It?s up to YOU.

It’s not hard. It doesn’t take a lot of time. Go the blog below to learn more if you’re inclined to act.

    Thank you.

and bring the appropriate fight and pressures on members of the Party to do the right thing…. Snowe… cough…. McLame… choke….. Graham….. gag…….

While yes we have to keep the pressure on the opposition, when are we going to actually see some pressure on the folks that are SUPPOSED to be with us?!?!?

Is the GOP trying to THROW AWAY the potential gains that should be AUTOMATIC with all the angst in the country right now by allowing all the LIBERALS in the Party to continue to compromise!?!?! Seems there are many that want to throw the elections and maintain their comfy minority roles!
