Can GOP Governors kill Obamacare?

With the recent announcements by GOP governors Bobby Jindal, Scott Walker, and Sam Brownback that thanks to the SC ruling they won’t immediately expand Medicaid we may have another opening to kill Obamacare.

What would happen to Obamacare if all 26 states that were party to the lawsuit against PPACA were to refuse to implement exchanges and expand their Medicaid programs? Could they cause a collapse of the program? Could they cause an exodus of the uninsured to blue states that do implement the expansion and thus overwhelm those states?

Obamacare remains an unconstitutional abomination in spite of John Roberts twisted logic to say otherwise.

I believe we have a better chance of ridding ourselves and our children of Obamacare if we focus on keeping the states from ever implementing it.

As I’ve been writing about for some time, I believe that only a return to a strong federlism system can save our repubic. We absolutely must cut the federal government back down to a manageable size.

The federal government is a creation of the states; if the Founders had ever believed that their states would one day be subordinate to the federal government they would have never signed the Constitution. It’s well past time to sieze back the powers that the federal government has been usurping since the aftermath of the Civil War and that accelerated under Wilson and Roosevelt.

Too many of us and too many prominent bloggers focus exclusively on the federal government and the national GOP expecting that they will find the guts to right this ship. We need to focus much more attention on our states. It would be nice if we could get more prominent conservatives to start discussing federalism and how it is a strategic advantage for conservatives.

Liberals hate federalism because it denies them the ability to impose their one-size-fits-all agenda on everyone. They can’t exist in a federal system.

We can defeat the Left via a divide and conquer federalism strategy. Let’s get to it!

Obama and his core groups of incompetents are trying to SPIN the ruling by stating it is a PENALTY not a TAX!!

Well Mitt and GOP here is what you need to do….Have ads that start with Obama praising the Supreme Courts ruling….and then in BOLD BLACK AND WHITE display the actual written opinion where the LAW IS ALLOWED ONLY UNDER IT BEING A TAX!! It is right there in the Majority Opinion…sorry Obama….and every interview he, Carney, Axelrod and other surrogates try to use to say it is a Penalty….SHOW THE WRITTEN OPINION WITH THE WORD TAX!!!

You see they cannot call that from Romney, RNC or GOP it comes right from the Majority Opinion that he was quit to celebrate!! However, what goes around comes around!!

The Romney Campaign and GOP must use that Opinion over and over so the Amerian People can clearly see how the law was upheld: TAX!!

They can use Obama’s interviews from 2009 and now…but they must use that Majority Opinion to show it is indeed a TAX!! And Obama and his band of boobs have no way to strike it down!

Great News….Gov Scott announced today that Florida will not expand Medicad and will not set up the implementations for Obamacare either….YAHOO….check out story on the Orlando Sentinel’s Home Page!! He is joining Jindal, Walker and Brownback!! Florida big deal!! Great Job Gov!! This my home state!! Florida is 4th biggest state….I hope Perry in Texas and the others will join the GOP Governors….we may be made at Roberts but HE joined with the other Conservative Justices and chopped the feet out from HHS and Sebelius!! This is big deal. No exchanges being set up in Florida….Cost shifts back to Obama!

    Nullification (http://www.tomwoods.com/books/nullification/).

As a practical matter, this CAN’T work by itself, as it is a Federal Question and there are Federal Courts that can enforce the implimentation of the Exchanges, etc.

On the other hand, as with the Viginia and Kentucky resolutions in response to the Alien & Sedition Act . . . and even in the Nullification Crisis of 1828 itself, this can be a way to build political support to force a cahnge in Federal policy.

rick scott and scott walker are true conservative patriots.

  • DerKrieger

I know several of these governors, Walker included, included the caveat that they wouldn’t implement any changes until after the election.

We need to make sure that they refuse to implement any piece of Obamacare even if the socialist SOB manages to pull out a win in Nov.

  • clearasday

I hope this is just the first wave of real pushback on the part of the states. Unlike the Feds, they have to deal with reality. Governor Scott can’t create money out of thin air or run a 16 trillion dollar deficit. We need to give them our enthusiastic support.

Sen Nelson….Mr. Tax and Phony himself decried Gov. Scott’s decision for NOT IMPLEMENT OBAMACARE and NOT EXPAND MEDICAID…..Gov Scott said FLORIDA CANNOT AFFORD IT AND WILL NOT DO IT….He said he prefers MARKET SOLUTIONS!!!..Nelson was booing hooing about Florida putting the poor and low income citizens at risk….HEY STUPID….OBAMA put NO MONEY IN THAT BILL TO PAY FOR IT!! Idiot Nelson!

Scott is staying true to form!! Letting Market decide and Capitalism…Now you know why Florida is leading the country in adding new jobs!! If you were a business would you stay in Maryland or move to Florida????

That is 2 great Victories for Scott….He beat DOJ over Cleaning up Voter Rolls!! Judge sided with Florida last week against DOJ!!! Voter CLEAN UP continues….sorry Dems and you phony voters are OUT!! I am glad I live in here under Gov. Scott!

  • DerKrieger

If you’re part of a FL TEA party let the governor know you support him and expect him to maintain his stance in the face of the coming Liberal onslaught.

We can’t let our governors fold.

  • clearasday

Republicans need to emphasize that they need a strong team in Washington to get anything done. We can start by giving Rubio someone to pass the ball to.

You have to love both these men. Both have told Obama to take a hike with Obamacare….Scott last night said FLORIDA will not implement any Medicaid expansion and will not implement Obamacare. Simply put when the Justices struck down the Medicaid provision (or should I say STATES cannot lose their current level of Medicaid funding if THEY DO NOT SET UP THESE EXCHAGES PER OBAMA AND SEBELIUS) this allows STATES to kept current funding and free them from expanding Medicaid and the FEDS cannot punish them or force them.

One of the big STICKS in Obamacare was FORCING states to set up these Exchanges or RISK losing all their Funding, Of course it was designed to set UNIVERSAL/ONE PAYER systems through the backdoor and then make the states pay for it!! In other words, GOVERNMENT RUN HEALTH CARE!

Here is what will happen, as Companies drop coverage for employees they will pay THE TAX (YES TAX OBAMA) for not covering the employees…(because it will be cheaper than providing private insurance) which means those employees will have to find own coverage or get dropped onto these HEALTH EXCHANGES! Result Government run healthcare!!

Now no state will lose CURRENT funding under the Supreme Court ruling. They could lose future additional but NOT what they have now! Which is a big win and not many people focused on this. Yes ROBERTS should have STRUCK down this entire law and all would be mute!! However, at this point we must deal with the reality of the ruling. This move by Walker, Scott, Jindal and Brownback are major moves!

Obamacare provided no additional funding for Medicaid expansion YET DEMANDED states to expand the coverage! THIS IS A KEY PART OF THIS BILL!! READ IT!! States would have had to come up with additional funding to pay for it!! Can you say RAISE TAXES, FEES, CUT SERVICES AND MORE!

Now under the ruling, Sebelius and her crew of goons cannot punish states by holding their current funding!

So what smart state would WANT TO EXPAND MEDICAID??? Can you imagine if you live in a state with Democrat Governors or foolish Republican Governors and you expand Medicaid per Obamacare? Each one of these fools will have to find a way to pay for it…..so how will they do it? TAX, TAX, TAX and TAX! Boy that will be a great sell hey?

Roberts was wrong….but by using the word TAX….he has hit Obama in a very sensitive way…you see that No Eyebrow Mental Midget Carney trying to spin faster than a top that it is a PENALTY not a TAX!! Sorry Jay ROBERTS put it in writing in the Majority Opinion: TAX!! That may make some of us mad by allowing at all…however, that ALBATROSS is now around Obama’s neck. Sorry Jay Republicans did not write the ruling…The word TAX IS right there in BLACK AND WHITE MORON!

Carney says it will only effect 1 percent….BS..there are at least 7 new TAXES (sorry Jay no fees or penalties) TAXES!!! for those making under 250,000.

Governor Scott made it clear last night….He will not expand Medicaid or implement Obamacare in Florida….He wants MARKET solutions…Federalism!! LOVE IT! Just like Walker, another great Governor, Scott has taken the steps to put the ball back in the Feds court. The refusual of Florida, Wisconsin, Louisiana and Kansas to expand Medicaid now shifts all the cost back to the FEDS!!! Can you say TAX OBAMA!!

I applaud Governor Scott (I live here and he is a great Governor whose profile I would say is rising!!), Governor Walker, Governor Jindal and Governor Brownback! This is what we need on the FEDERAL levels….Men with BACKBONE and the courage to say STICK IT to the Feds!

Walker started this back when he started reforms in Wis and raised his statue big time with his win….Scott defeated the Feds in court over the cleaning up of Voter Rolls to exclude phonies and now both are leading the way to cut the wind out of Obamacare.

I hope other GOP Governors (and maybe Dems) will have the courage and strength to do the same. Come on Texas, Ohio, Virginia, South Carolina, Georgia, Indiana and others tell your Governors to NOT EXPAND MEDICAID and NOT IMPLEMENT OBAMACARE!! All 26 states that sued Feds have big opening here!! You expand Medicaid YOU HAVE TO FUND and the FEDS will run that state!

you have to wonder if Scott, Jindal, Brownback and probably Perry are not starting to wonder if their states have a place in a Republic that includes Obamacare.

Very disturbing but no longer outside the realm of possibility . . . .
