RS

MEMBER DIARY

A Toast. Please fell free to join.

To all who have served that we may be here today.

To Irwin and Roy of the American Expeditionary Force, and Heinrich Sr who fought on the other side.

To Don and Leon and Chuck and Verne, and Henry (Heinrich Jr) who fought on our side the second time around.

To Ray, who occupied Japan.

To Ron, who wintered on Korea.

… These just the past 100 years.

Some died in battle, some survived their wars. All now passed;  Their flags will fly again this weekend.

We will remember.

    The original by Kate Smith.

Our military, and to those who gave all to keep it free, we can never thank them enough.
If it were not for those in the military who kept this country ours, we would not have a country for us to ask God to bless.
Having been in the military during Viet Nam,
here’s to us and those like us.
God bless America, land that I love. Amen.

and gekster, PTTP, and all that served and still serve in our great military. It’s a strange world as earlier today, thinking of Memorial Day, I was trying to find some history of my Dad on-line today and could find none. He was a Navy fighter pilot in Viet Nam, was a River Rat so looked that up and he fought in the Korean War, He ended his 27 years of Navy service as the Commanding Officer at Glenview NAS, and nary a word. He died in 1995. Frank Taylor Clark from Bonham, TX. I miss him so much and will honor all those that serve our great country, knowing our freedom is on account of them.

        Dolly Parton.

        Lee Greenwood has some thoughts.

Red Skelton has some thoughts on the flag they fought to protect.

John Wayne has something to say.

And finally, because I’m a Mark Levin fan, this.

And take comfort in knowing that God has a special place for those who serve with honor, and without question.

We do what we are asked without question,
and don’t question what we are asked to do.

and yes I’m all teared up. It’s been a rough day thinking of my Dad and all those that have served. Dolly’s song is awesome and the rest went blank but the titles…I’ve aleady shed many a tear on Levin’s Friday song thing as I think our country’s gone to hell…& I’m not that old but feel dispaired.

Please make this a diary and not a comment for all to see. You all are a proud and brave bunch of heros.

was a real treat. It opened with an announcer we here in the Windsor/Detroit area know, all too well. His name is Bill Kennedy and used to host an afternoon movie show on CBC/ Windsor,Channel 9. He was a bit player in Hollywood and never let us forget it.

But the Gipper at the end of same was just icing……….

gekster, where do you come up with this stuff? Or maybe I’ll just shut-up and enjoy the mystery.

To my late father, 1Lt R.J. Riggio, USAAF, 8th AF, who co-piloted his destroyed B-17 to a crash landing, with loss of aircrew lives, survived his sentence in the stalag, and lived a successful life. He disliked Hogan’s Heroes.

Thanks for the excellent post and outstanding comments. Cheers!

A great man. Funny, loving, and knew how to play every card game there ever was! And here’s to Gramma Jan! The sweetest, most patient woman alive. She’s still kickin’ and will be 92 in a couple months! I miss you Grampa and I love you guys! Thanks for my Mom. You guys did a hell of a job with her. You should be proud and I know you are.
