Remembering Pearl Harbor
While Congress debates taxes and whether or not they should have popcorn at a viewing of Lincoln, I remember, and had not yet been born.
I remember a university student (circa 1948), who decades later described one of her fellow GI-Bill students: “Every once in a while, he would get up and walk out of class. He couldn’t stay in the room. He had spent days in the belly of a battleship that was sunk in Pearl Harbor. Not even the Professor minded: everyone knew, and everyone understood.”
Remember Pearl Harbor. Look it up: ~2,400 killed, only 55 civilians, in ninety minutes.
…And if some Vet behaves a little odd from time to time, understand … and remember.
