MEMBER DIARY

Who would comprise your Dream POTUS Cabinet?

Who would you put in charge of what? The choices I am pointing out are meant to send a clear message as to the direction of the new Administration…

President: ME, but I’ll have to settle for any current GOP contender.
Vice Pres: Rick Santorum (maybe: John Kasich).
[NOTE: The next VP must take Pres. pro tem of Senate role seriously and should be there presiding over the Senate once a week and helping to push Senate Republicans along a CONSERVATIVE course.]

STATE/DEFENSE/LAW:
ATF: John Lott (and shut this down, these are legal products, the FBI can handle cross-State issues).
Attorney Gen: Pam Bondi, Jay Sekulow, or ____?
China Amb.: Donald Trump (Yes, laughing while typing the name, but you know why he’s mentioned).
DEA: ____?
Defense: John McCain (then we can get a real Conservative Senator from AZ).
FBI: ____?
Homeland Sec.: Rudy Giuliani.
ICE/CBP: Ignacio Ramos, Jose Compean, Joe Arpaio.
Sect. of State: Joseph Lieberman (clear statement to Extremists) or John Bolton.
UN Amb.: John Bolton.

Press Sec.: Dennis Miller, Bernard Goldberg, or Newt Gingrich.

Commerce and Labor: Mitt Romney or Herman Cain (reign in the NLRB).
Education: Michelle Rhee or Geoffry Canada.
Energy: Sarah Palin or Rick Perry.
EPA: Sarah Palin.
FCC: Michael Reagan.
FEMA: ____?
HHS: Tom Coburn, John Barrasso, or Ron Paul.
HUD: Star Parker.
USPS/Postmaster General: CEO of either DHL, FedEx, or UPS.
Transportation: Eric Harley and Gary McNamara.

MONETARY:
IRS (Dir): Michele Bachmann.
Treasury: Arthur Laffer or Steve Forbes.

OTHERS TO WORK IN:
Fred Thompson, Joe “You Lie” Wilson, Joe “The Plumber” Wurzelbacher, Jason Chaffetz, and ____?
Side-note: Daniel Hannan (ref.). Get that man US Citizenship and put him in charge of something! Why is one of the best CONSERVATIVE voices on the Planet British?!?!?

NO I HAVEN’T LEFT OUT:
Bobby Jindal, Chris Christie, Marco Rubio, Scott Walker, ____? — they are needed where they are!

CONGRESSIONAL LEADERSHIP:
Speaker: Alan West (other leaders: Kristi Noem, ____?).
Senate Majority: Marco Rubio (other leaders: Gary Glenn [MI's next Senator], ____?).

Govt. reduction efforts/plans:
Merge (SHRINK) Agriculture, Commerce, and others into Interior.
Energy should be broken into two parts with a minor role going into Interior and an aspect [Natl. Security (ref.)] going under Defense.
What other mergers, or entities within the Federal Govt. PHASED OUT (like CPB), so we can FIRE staff and reduce duties/responsibilities???
[NOTE: The reason I say merge to reduce rather than out-right eliminate moves us into the right direction -- face it folks, you still have to get elected -- we can PHASE THESE OUT returning the responsibilities back to the States where everything belongs.]

Seriously though (and/or have some fun with this too), who should comprise the Cabinet of the next Republican POTUS?!?!? The time is now to plant the seed of our thoughts as to appointments in 2013.

    POTUS/V-POTUS: (Gingrich/Perry) order undetermined.

    State: McCain, John
    Defense: Duncan Hunter
    DHS: Rudy Guiliani
    Commerce: Conrad Black
    Treasury: Mitt Romney
Education: Blume (Putting the Author of “Closing of The American Mind” in charge sends a much-needed message.)
Energy: James InHofe (The hearings on “Hide The Decline” begin in 10, 9, 8,…)
    EPA: Palin (see InHofe)
FCC: Rush Limbaugh (Just to make Olbermann stroke out on the floor)
    UN Ambassador: Fred Thompson
    Attorney General: Judge Bork

    • http://www.ssce.net/Web-Articles/Web-articles-indexed-authors.html#authors-l JLenardDetroit

I was tempted to mention both Bork and Gonzalez somewhere in the list. I should have put them in the “others to work” in portion.

  • changeforrickperry

I can’t think of names for all the cabinets, but I’ll do my best.

    President: Rick Perry
    Vice President: Marco Rubio
    State: John Bolton
    Attorney General: Rudy Giuliani
Treasury: Ron Paul (hey, I can dream)
Education (my guy wants to get rid of it, but I’ll play along): Glenn Beck–just to shake things up a little
Energy (my guy wants to get rid of that one, too): Jim Inhofe
    EPA (same goes): Sarah Palin

    Congressional leadership:
Joe Wilson, Speaker of the House
    Marco Rubio, Senate Majority Leader

Newt really needs a cabinet position, too. He’d be fantastic. Can you imagine him as Press Secretary? Golly, he’d give the LSM a run for their money.

OK, if I can think of anyone for Defense I’ll let y’all know. My mind’s drawing a blank at the moment.

I meant Jim DeMint for Senate Majority Leader. I had Marco Rubio for VP. Tsk tsk tsk, that’s what comes of typing too fast.

I had some repeat names, as they are worth considering for more than one post, and the discussions would shake out who landed up where.

I see many of the same names from others that I have used, but not necessarily in the same potential positions.

As I said in the article, I too would like to see some Dept’s phased out (yes, tempting to just lop them off all at once, but we all know that many Politically Brain-Dead folk would fall for whatever reasons and excuses why we can’t do that).

      • changeforrickperry

I guard him with a jealous eye in Perry’s direction. ;) Oh well, if the good of the country depended on it…but I’d be very sad nevertheless. I like the idea of executive hatchet man, though!

        • Xasteius

the most constructive thing I can think of is shipping him to Pluto ‘neglected class’, but any suggestions are welcome.

I’m kinda surprised no-one has said anything about my Immigration related appointments…. Maybe because most are in agreement?!??! I sure hope it isn’t because people have forgotten about Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean (I also mention Arpaio),

  • donald_24

than Kris Kobach. He is quite possibly the most brilliant conservative legal mind in America.

Arpaio could make a good Border Patrol director.

that would be the former Soviet …. ah nevermind… if we have to explain it to people it ain’t worth it ;-) lol

  • Melody Warbington (rwm52)

any of our best and brightest conservatives currently serving in the House or Senate. We need them to stay put.

I agree with many of the other names already tossed out, and I’d add Liz Cheney as Press Secretary. And although some here have deemed Ann Coulter persona non grata, just imagine her as Press Secretary for a minute? Talk about exploding heads.

And while we’re talking fantasy, how about new Supremes? Maybe Jeff Sessions? Anyone else?

    • http://www.ssce.net/Web-Articles/Web-articles-indexed-authors.html#authors-l JLenardDetroit

yep…. that would be fun too… There should be something those 2 can be put in charge of!

good to see you’re real name RWM.

    PRES: Rick Perry
    VP: Haley Barbour

    Sec of State: Fred Thompson
Labor/commerce: Herman Cain (with Scott Walker as special advisor)
    Defense: Allan West
Homeland Security/immigration: Rudy Giulianni (with Jan Brewer as special advisor)
    Veterans affairs: John McCain
Foriegn affairs: John Bolton (dont need ambassador to UN, because my dream administration pulls out of the UN entirely)
Economy/fiscal policy: Paul Ryan (we don’t need no stinkin “shared sacrifice”) His position will swallow up dept of revenue also, as that role is likely to shink after we pass major tax reform and make it permanent.
Energy: James Inhoffe (to be phased out)
Interior: Sarah Palin (Interior would swallow up conservation & transportation into one dept)
Health: Steve King (kills 0bamacare and ushers in free-market, consumer-based reform)
Treasury: Ron Paul (oops, trouble for the FED?)
Education: Michelle Rhee (to be phased out after major reform)
Newt Gingrich could be a special advisor to many above positions. NOTE: special advisor positions would not be full time. They would be set up as fee-for-service like an independent contractor. Payments for services would not exceed consultant fees of the private sector.

To be ELIMINATED: United Nations, all White House Czar’s, Fannie, Freddie, HUD, FHA and all housing sister agencies, Education, Energy, EPA, Agriculture

    Press secretary: Star Parker

    President: Rick Perry
Vice Pres: Scott Walker, Marco Rubio or Allen West (Possibly Rand Paul ? hear me out, he is a Tea Partier and bringing him in would get the paul-bots on board and would keep Ron Paul from mounting a 3rd party run)

Also I think we need a fairly young VP so in 8 years they can run for president.

    Attorney General: Ken Cucinelli
    Treasury: Mitch Daniels

Its good to put a solid cabinet around you, but dont pull strong people from important roles, I remember Bush 43 had a few purple state Governors: Thompson, Ridge and Whitman come to mind.

Because its where his passion is, If you are going to reform education, I think Jeb Bush might make a good Education secretary.

Unless they were my VP’s, I would look to pull future stars like Ryan and Rubio into cabinet positions.

  • http://www.ssce.net/Web-Articles/Web-articles-indexed-authors.html#authors-l JLenardDetroit

That is why I said we should leave Walker, Christie, Jindal, etc… (but I did mention Kasich – he should stay in place too). Rubio is needed to be Senate Majority Leader.

Conversely, people like McCain that can play a SOLID single-focus role; say Defense, State Dept., etc; then frees up a space for a more REAL CONSERVATIVE to be appointed into his Senate seat (say, Jan Brewer, maybe). It would also be nice to pull Lindsey Graham out of the Senate also and get a more reliable Conservative for/from SC, but what would we be able to trust him to do in an Administration?!?!? Lamar Alexander, TN, in some role also (does TN have a Republican Governor?!?! – too lazy to look) so that a RED-DOG could be put in place rather than his (like McCain-iac) lapsing into Bi-Partisanship disease fits.
