There is NOTHING contradictory Mr. Obama….

The Alinsky in Chief and his lemmings have been throwing around a meme that those in talk radio and Conservatives are all of sudden wanting the Federal Government to “do something” about this oil spill and that it is somehow contradictory of those who claim SMALL GOVERNMENT as their mantra You are wrong Barack.

” Obama also talked about what he considers a key issue: the role of the federal government. “I will say that there is a debate that we’ve been having for a long time and we’re going to keep on having in this country about the proper role of government,” he said. “And I think that this crisis has been a good case study in how some people feel pretty contradictory about that role.

“Some of the same folks who have been hollering and saying ‘do something’ are the same folks who, just two or three months ago, were suggesting that government needs to stop doing so much. Some of the same people who are saying the president needs to show leadership and solve this problem are some of the same folks who, just a few months ago, were saying, this guy is trying to engineer a takeover of our society through the federal government that is going to restrict our freedoms.”

I quite disagree because to somehow equate those of us who do not want a large Federal Government to those who want no Federal Government at all is disingenuous. I would say that a majority of Americans recognize a roll for Government which does not include ownership of their heathcare, car companies, banks, mortgages, etc.

This is another instance of Barack Obama taking the logical to the extreme, that is a problem of a large portion of Democrats. America is at her best when the Government is not involved in the day to day particulars of each of us. The Government intrusion into our lives has become so onerous as to truly be a BOOT ON OUR THROATS. I personally believe that beyond the Military and infrastructure plus the Census that the Federal Government doesn’t belong involved in any other portion of our lives. That is pretty radical so it seems these days however the truth is that States are the arbiters of regulations and laws that effect the bulk of us. The Federal Government has usurped that authority to the point that most Americans believe it is the job of the Government to supply welfare to the majority of Americans whether that welfare comes in the form of individuals or in the form of BIG BUSINESS.

The bottom line is the political process has become CORRUPT because the Federal Government is involved in too many parts of our lives. If the Country were to get back to its SMALL GOVERNMENT ways I am sure there would most certainly not be a whole street in DC dedicated to lobbyists, of course they would fan out to a street in each City of America to ply their trade however for American’s that is the best choice. The local legislature who must see his Constituents on a daily basis at their local office is much more amenable to We The People!

Obama is clearly trying to blur the line between a blatant takeover of the economy, via health care and cap and tax, and their already established duty of helping to recover from a natural disaster, hurricane, oil spill, or otherwise. He is showing he thinks a central bureaucracy should be the answer to all problems and sees no distinction. Through all this including the AZ illegal immigration law he also clearly shows he is not interested in solutions coming from somewhere other than Washington DC Democrats. I probably could not have predicted a year and a half ago he would make such a disingenuous statement to the Politico but it was all too easy to see it coming now.

Also there’s the stalling of Bobby Jindal’s sand berm idea that even though he finally got the go ahead to build some it’s nowhere enough to stop most of the oil and too late for most of Louisiana’s beaches and marshes. While there is a role for the Feds to play in fighting this spill there was absolutely no reason to delay for so long… unless it was to prolong and worsen a crisis to the point Obama thought he could ride in on a white horse and save the day. Then there’s the thought that he could point to the few berms being built and say “See? The berms didn’t work. A (Republican) state idea didn’t work. Time for legislation to give the Federal government more power in these situations.”

Obama has learned his Alinsky well. He’s quite masterful at it in fact. More’s the pity for us.

trying to divide us citizen against citizen while undermining conservatives in general in process.

I agree with you, Jaded, in the fact that there is a role our government should play in our well-being. But this particular man we have as our President has no intention of resolving conflict. His purpose is to either instigate conflict or perpetuate it for the sake of power and control.

which is to stir things up and then try to stand aside when the stuff hits the rotating fan blades. The C.O. handbook directs that every effort be taken to stir up and add to any controversy that can help the party gain and stay in power by controlling the people or making them feel dependent on government.

0bama continues to prove the main point of the Peter Principle: “every employee tends to rise to his level of incompetence”. Only in 0bama’s case he rose to the top job without being tested or by avoiding any tests at the lower levels which would have unmasked him. So he didn’t just rise to his level of incompetence, he was slingshotted up many levels higher than his incompetence pay grade by unknown forces who now are left holding the strings of not just an idiot puppet, but one that is overwhelmingly disrespected by all sides, domestic and international, with the exception of the hard core Hate America First crowd.

a bit more on the community level. I don’t mean that in a malicious way. I’ve just had all sorts of ideas come into my mind lately…about using this idea of organizing communities to perhaps set up associations for people who are self-employed and having those associations contact insurance companies to see if those insurance companies would give them a reduced fee for group health insurance rates…things like that. I don’t even know that it would work, but if it did, it could at least minimize the impact some of this HCR nonsense would have on the hard-working business owners in our communities.

take the idea of purchasing coalitions and apply it in a context that would help businesses in our communities stay on their feet for a while yet.
