How to make the TEA Party irrelevant in one election cycle…

I understand that the TEA Party has some Democrats (Reagan Democrats) and some Independents (Reagan Independents) in their ranks but the truth of the matter is when they divide the electorate the Nancy Pelosi voting Democrat (Alinsky Democrat) wins. The TEA Party is built upon the premise of a SMALLER FEDERAL GOVERNMENT and that is point one in this and the next few election cycles. The problem they are creating for themselves and America as a whole is they are so set in their mental limitations as to not see the bigger picture. When the TEA Party decides that a Republican Candidate who has voted FOR tax increases in a State and is handpicked by the powers that be in DC cannot be the guy they vote for EVEN THOUGH they had their shot in the primary, they have then decided that obviously the Democrat is the better choice for this Country Periello is the WORST kind of Democrat he is a Nancy Pelosi Democrat.

Whether TEA Party candidates are placing that title on the ballot or running as Independents to “show them” they are by design electing the Democrat. I cannot believe the shortsightedness of the TEA Party, as they act as if 2 years from now they will not then have a BETTER shot at that seat and will send the RINO home. I cannot believe how small minded the TEA Party has become in what is going to be a decade long fight at least to send ALL THE BUMS HOME. To “accept” the winner of the Republican primary is NOT to sell your convictions down the river, oh no, it is to accept that person will vote with the Conservative caucus in the House and Senate at least 50% of the time (the Democrat will vote with the Alinskys 100% of the time. In 2012 that person can be primaried with a TEA Party candidate (Conservative) and held to account for those other 50% of the votes that he/she stood with the Socialists on. I want to be clear here, the Democrats who are going to be left after this election cycle will be the hardcore left of the Party John Dingle is proof of Communists in the House and the more WE The People box them in and take away their power the more WE The People can move this Country FORWARD.

I cannot begin to say how disappointing it is that even in MI-01 where Dr. Dan Benishek who is as Conservative a candidate as a TEA Party could ask for there is an guy running as an Independent to split the vote Is he a plant? or is he is just stupid?. It goes to show that TEA Parties that support this Independent and TEA Parties that support ANY third party candidate are making themselves IRRELEVANT in one election cycle. I belong to my local TEA Party, I will STOP belonging to my local TEA Party if these types of small minded, ignorant, small picture people continue to DESTROY any chance of getting this House back to something resembling sanity. It is not enough to whine and cry and stamp your feet you MUST get into the only other Party that stands a chance to flip this Country back on its axis and that is the Republican Party. I believe ColdWarrior says it all the time become a Precinct Committeeperson or just vote Republican. I know you TEA Party people are supposed be about a smaller government and WE ALL know there is not a Democrat in the House or Senate or running for the House or Senate that is in anyway SMALL GOVERNMENT. They wouldn’t be a Democrat if they were.

The Alinsky loving, Socialist Democrats have ONE SHOT at keeping the House and Senate and that is TEA Party/Independent candidates splitting the votes. Whether they are really TEA Party candidates or just Democrat plants if at the end of the day on November 3rd it is shown that a TEA Party in any way, shape or fashion has helped to derail a WIN for America, they will be on November 3rd IRRELEVANT!

This is a multi-tiered expansion and it will take many election cycles to get back to a smaller government footprint. It would behoove US ALL to look into the crystal ball and keep OUR eyes on the prize, which is a Federal Government that works for WE The People and NOT the Political Class.

Leading up to, and right after the primary a few months ago in VA 5th, the tea party people had their hearts set on a candidate that was a Ron Paul supported candidate. I liked another guy, who was a great conservative, but, was new to politics as well. The DC people did fund and push for Robert Hurt, a current State Senator. For a little while, the buzz was that everyone should look into the 3rd party Independent candidate among the Tea Partiers. That has faded, as the other guy has publically stated that he is going after the moderate Democrat voters. In that case, he will actually help the Republican Hurt.

In a recent poll, Hurt was ahead of Perriello by something like 20 points. It’s early yet. Perriello’s camp said that their polling showed Tommy ahead, but, they never released any poll information. Perriello claimed the polling outfit wasn’t reputable, that showed Hurt ahead. It will tighten, but, many many look at Perriello and see Nancy’s face, and Soros ties.

        until their goals are accomplished:

1 – There is no national “Tea Party”
2 – There is a movement of mostly former independents and democrats that have finally realized or been re-educated concerning the danger of liberal economic policies to our prosperous American way of life
3 – Tea partiers are akin to similar movements in the late 60s and late 70s in reaction to failed liberal policies and Prop 13 in California that built the more conservative GOP and which brought about the Reagan and Gingrich revolutions.
4 – Voting since the movement began in the Spring of 2009 has been a HUGE net positive for the GOP in moving the party to the right generally; causing some incumbants to move to the right; and bringing in non-political types bent on showing the elites that We the People are the boss.
5 – Yes, some tea partiers have formed some state Tea Parties that in isolated elections may split the vote. I am certain that these instances will be rare, especially compared to the MASSIVE increase in voter turnout for and identification with the GOP which will be made much more in Reagan’s than McCain’s image

In short, I think fears that the tea party movement could have major splits and prevent GOP and more importantly, conservative gains in the fall are unfounded.

Yes, we should warn of this and be on the lookout for isolated instances in primaries or in the general election, but the main thrust behind the movement is aversion to failed Obama and Democrat policies, and that fact guides everything.

…so let;’s hope we are right. I agree that Jaded’s commentsare alos valid, maybe cautionary, but we need to be prepared both boh exigencies.

Looking at the landscape, Tea Party folks are generally one of three types… Libertarian, Conservative, or Converts from Centrist Independents/Democrat Lite…

in my view 2 out of 3 are going to view things more mainstream and therefore simply vote to oppose the Democrats… they will not be quick to vote for 3rd Party/Tea Party candidates… they will stick with “throw the bums out” and most are smart enough to know that you can’t throw out the bum by voting for a split vote candidate…

The libertarian faction will in fact call for 3rd party… they’re generally the Anarchist — “leave me alone” types. They’re great for founding father rhetoric, they’re great for showing up with signs, but in the end they will always “vote their conscience” and there’s no amount of explaining to them to swallow the pride, and vote in their perceived “the lesser of two evils”…

The more organized the tea party becomes in local areas, the more irrelevant they will become. They’ll have a high burn in rate, and fizzle out with the first disappointing loss. See Ross Perot ’92.

In my view Tea Parties should be nothing more than organized educational events where principles are taught…

OTOH activism and organization should be carried out by precinct committees within the GOP. The GOP should purge slippery slope candidates through local organization and activism. GOP committee members should attend Tea Party rallies and try to win over converts to activism/organization.

A 3 party political system leads to a multi-party political system… and a multi-party political system leads to corruption, gridlock, and plurality based compromised back door sleaze that ultimately leads to socialism through back scratching. See Canada/European Socialism.

I attend meetings of various groups including local Tea Party and Campaign for Liberty. There’s a LARGE percentage of them who think they’re compromising their principles by voting for anyone other than someone with a 100% match to their ideology. I keep preaching that electing someone that matches 85% of their ideology is more likely to move us in the right direction than wasting their vote and allowing an Alinsky Democrat to win.

Some of them get it. Some of them have become Republican PC’s and are supporting party candidates that are more “moderate” (Mark Kirk).

Others are fools and will claim to stay pure by voting for the constitution party candidate or even Green party candidates. They completely ignore the disaster that Alexi Gianoulius would be for our state and our country, just so they can be smug and “feel good” about themselves when they look in a mirror. I usually tell them that they can take another look in the mirror and see a person who helped elect a flaming progressive to office.

    • Scope

you find more of these “principled” voters at C4L meetings than the Tea Partiers. They are given marching orders to overtake the Republican party, and, if they can’t get their litmus tested candidates elected, to not ever compromise, and vote for the lesser of 2 evils.

It’s interesting that they say they will vote for Constitution Party candidates. The only difference, that I can tell, between the Libertarian Party and the Constitution Party is the Const. people do not support open borders or pro-choice positions. In these current political times, you hear many many people talking about getting back to the Constitution. I don’t believe that many would understand what they are voting for if they cast their vote for the far radical right wing Constitution Party. They are all for total freedom for every individual, however, you must do things their way and agree with them, and their platform, which is not total freedom for anyone. Even in the animal kingdom, there is no such thing as total freedom, there are always predators in our midst. God made it that way, but these people have never understood that. I’m sorry, but, in 2010 a few good submarines are not sufficient to protect the US.

    • mriggio

right on and 5+. But Brian, locally here in Illinois I modify your last sentence to say ‘a person who helped elect a MOB BANKER to office’. Ya gotta be kidding me if you cannot see a positive difference between Kirk & Gianoulius!
      Cheers!

        Well done to you both.

Either way, Gianoulias is trouble for Illinois.

I will preface this with the fact that Hurt must win in VA-5. But, it should also be noteworthy that when those in DC get involved, and supply money and support for a particular candidate, it usually doesn’t work out very well. If DC, and particularly Cantor didn’t recruit this guy, the VA-5th would have been very easily winnable. To be in this situation now, with a Progressive Pelosi Soros candidate, is a situation that could have been avoided. Get the freak out of primary elections NRCC. You just don’t get it.

    • JadedByPolitics

the TEA Parties and their members had their shot in the primary and when they lost they needed to and should stand with the Republican and then take him out in 2012! It is not enough to pick up your ball and go home after you have lost and that is the going to be the rug that will be pulled out from under the feet of the TEA Party Movement if D’s win in seats that should go R. They must learn to fight another day because Hurt will vote with the Conservative caucus at least 75% of the time. I mean he is NOT a progressive Republican he is taxing Republican and NOT every tax.

WAKE UP TEA Party and smell the coffee and elect this man to take out Periello!

  • David123

It’s also about preserving/restoring Constitutional checks and balances. Having a Republican majority in the House who won’t rubber-stamp Obama’s and Pelosi’s agenda is critical. If some of those Republicans are big-spenders and/or pro-choice – wonderful – as long as they basicly play along with the rest of the team and don’t backstab.

  • kowalski

First of all, let’s talk about what the Tea Pary is and what it isn’t. It isn’t Democrat. It isn’t Republican. And it isn’t Independent. It’s really a FOURTH party and what it is designed to do is scoop up the disgruntled Independents and some stray Republicans and libertarians and get them to vote for someone, somewhere, cause they’re fed up with everyone else. Then, supposedly, according to the Tea Party, the world is going to get better.

There’s a huge problem: nothing works this way. Most of the people in this country who matter, and who are motivated to vote, are so beholden to one party or the other that all that will happen is that the Tea Party will siphon off votes from the party it would otherwise support: Republicans. It’s going to dilute their shares, and not the Democrats’. It’s going to make it easier for Democrats to win.

I don’t support Tea Party candidates for precisely this reason: they come from all walks of life and all points of the compass, but what they are really going to do in this election is make sure Republicans don’t replace Democrats in Congress. It’s tough for them to understand that: I’ve had arguments with a few of them. But the don’t have the NUMBERS. They can’t do anything except the people they least want to be there, win.

It isn’t going to work, because it’s going to split the Republican vote the heaviest and it’s going to guarantee that Democrats maintain control of Congress.

  • deano64

to back candidate who has no shot at winning a Republican primary. I’m talking someone who’s name I won’t mention (very few of you would know who I was talking about anyway). That’s the problem. The guy has zero name recognition, zero ability to raise any money, has polled at or near 5% from the git go. Yet this is the guy many Tea Parties here locally are overwhelmingly supporting all the way to the bitter end. I’ll agree that the other 2 candidates in this race don’t exactly get many conservatives excited but the Tea Parties need to be realistic when it becomes obvious the guy or gal they like has no chance.

  • student

We know for a fact that there is no such thing as a “conservative Democrat” since all the “Conservative Democrats” voted to approve the Obama/Pelosi/Reid extremist agenda and extremist judicial candidates. Hence as a Tea Party voter I cannot vote Democrat. Similarly the Republican party has to be reshaped back to what it historically has been – the repository of classical American values of small frugal government, low taxation, individualism with individual empowerment and accountability for the consequence of their own decisions, focus of the federal government on the enumerated powers, fiscal responsibility. So I don’t vote for RINOs. If a RINO wins the primary I abstain or vote third party, knowing that this may lead to another Democrat getting in short term – but I do it because it is important for the Republicans to realize that selling out to lobbyists like the Democrats, voting to raid the treasury to buy votes. The struggle to reverse the damage that Obama is doing will require a generational effort and the struggle to fix the Republican party back to being a party of American values is a key requirement before the great turn around can begin. In parallel, as an American businessman facing an extremely hostile business environment largely created by a socialist leader I am on strike, not making investments that will only lead to profits that are being expropriated. If the parasite socialists want to steal our money, we do not need to make it easy. It is better to invest overseas and to de-domicile if needed than to feed the parasites who are destroying the country. When I see a predictable sane business environment then I will resume investment, growth and hiring.

is to elect conservative Republicans to office, and for those Republicans to behave responsibly.

  • oldcon

Instead of relying on the Republicans alone.

    • JadedByPolitics

NO! WE NEED to takeover the Republican Party from the ground up and get rid of the Political Class that has overtaken what was once a Conservative Party!

There are TWO Parties and ALL OF US must work within that framework. Third parties are the way to give the vote to Democrats and ANY group calling themselves Conservative who do that are NOTHING.

I will tell those higher then thou third party way idiots something about the two parties that they MUST pay attention to and that is Republicans will BACK DOWN when Americans RISE UP but Democrats will spit in your face and pass the legislation anyway. There is most definitely a dimes worth of difference between the two!

  • 1stRichard

The lesser of two evils is still an evil, we have been given a choice socialism or socialism light for too long. Why would Republicans want to split the vote? Why are Republicans so set in their mental limitations as to not see the bigger picture? This is what I was saying when we gave you Brown

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the Liberal La-La land, (some call it the happy valley)

I will fear no Marxist: For thy art not afraid to ride the RINO to my destination

Thy 9 Principles and 12 Values, they comfort me, and guide me

Thou preparest a destination before me in the presence of mine enemies

Thy path ahead with enemies I walk a different path, hitching a ride if I must

Did it stop the healthcare bill? All Republicans had to do was hold out for a bit longer but no, they had no trust in us. This has happened too many times, we lost trust in Republicans and Republicans lost trust in us as a whole. Time to clean up this mess and now I sing a different song.

    No more compromise

    • JadedByPolitics

are a Committeeman in your State? or do you just spout off a bunch a crap about “no more compromise”? I think if you think that a third party is the way you are handing the Democrats a win everytime! PATHETIC!

      • 1stRichard

After arguing with Jennifer Nassour about RINO Romney some time ago I have no doubt that help from the National GOP is needed. Romney was a flip flop on too many issues. He was for abortion when he ran for governor and then said he was against abortion when he ran for President. Romney is also reportedly supporting Meg Whitman for Gov of CA and she is in favor of abortions and against offshore drilling. Or did Romney suddenly became a born-again pro-lifer again, I can?t keep track of this flip flop. His health care reform was too socialist, costly and corrupt and so much more. If we define success as getting legislation passed then Romney is as fiscally conservative as GW Bush. Didn?t he also support the TARP? He still brags about MassCare even though it?s bankrupting the state. How much can you trust someone that uses conservative values as a stepping-stone? Face the fact that this state is far left, leftist Democrats are now seen as Conservative Republicans here. We want Real Republicans and not more Democrats.

We gave you Brown 41 and the volume of criticism is undeniable, this compromise was not favorable. Lt. Gov. Elect write in Keith Davis sums up the frustration here well

        http://www.writeinkeithdavis.com/

Some of us have moral questions that go beyond small government and the far left here have necessitated this issue. Keith admittedly has little chance of changing this election but wants to send a clear message.

I am not going in to specifics about our town and city comity efforts beyond saying we have them covered. We have also put our own Tea Party candidate in as a Republican, be it under the radar for now

        http://www.billgunnforcongress.org/

So what has the GOP done for us here in W/Mass?

I justKNOW one day that abortion will actually, truly be RARE and only for the health of the mother. I cannot stand by and do NOTHING while liberals/leftists/Obama would continue to act as if abortion is a natural thing to want or to have as a law of a Country that was founded on Judeo-Christian principles!
