(Update) Breaking: Obama campaign pushes the panic button in Pennsylvania

Big news.

“On Monday November 5, President Clinton will campaign in Pittsburgh and Scranton as well as hold two events in the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.”

This is OFA’s top surrogate. Four stops in Pennsylvania the day before the election.

Any questions who’s winning?

Romney up 4 in Pennsylvania in release of new poll tonight.  Susquehanna is the pollster that nailed Toomey winning his Senate victory on the nose and predicted Tom Corbett’s win within two points.

Correction:  The link that I got to that poll was through Twitchy  which linked to the Erie County Pennsylvania GOP office citing this poll.  I thought this was odd because I had seen an article on Hot Air stating that Susquehanna would release its final poll in the Pittsburgh Tribune Review on Sunday.  The pollster’s director, Jim Lee, informed that this was inaccurate and related to the poll that was released about 3 weeks go.  The final poll will indeed come out on Sunday in the Pittsburgh Tribune Review which the director hinted that shows a tighter race, probably indicating a smaller Romney lead.  Susquehanna has come out with its final poll of the PA Senate race today showing Bob Casey Jr. up 1, 46-45.

Interesting tweet to Jay Cost cited in that Battleground Watch post.

@jaycosttws I am in Bucks Cty and got a call from OFA looking for volunteers to help Obama in the district.Playing catch up last minute

Oh my.  It looks like the Obama campaign has been caught flat-footed. If Organizing For America is just starting to rustle up volunteers, it is already too late.  The momentum is already beyond their control.  Romney is already booked to outspend Obama on the airwaves by a 4 to 1 margin in all the PA markets, including Philadelphia, and will be doing a campaign event in Bucks County which is a crucial portion of the Philadelphia suburbs.  According to ground reports in Pennsylvania, the Romney ground game and volunteers are off the charts enthusiastic and are definitely believing they will win Pennsylvania.  Obama has no time to buy ad time and very little money left with the lion’s share of resources devoted to trying to hang on to Ohio.   The New York Times and Ed Rendell are openly very worried about Pennsylvania.  I remember a bolt out of the blue whiplash like this happening in the Coakley-Brown Massachusett’s Senate race in 2010.

Rachel Maddow & Nate Silver have some really good insight into why the Romney Campaign is heading into Pennsylvania. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26315908/#49668788

      God bless those two halflings.

      • tlhoward

I will not watch anything on that network.

Yes, but Rachel and Nate are not speaking from their loins*. So we don’t put a lot of stock in them.

      D. Axelrod taught me that!

Meh. This strikes me as a “hey look a pink elephant!” tactic by Maddow.

Pretty much anything any candidate does before election day can be shown to be something a losing candidate did in the past. I doubt Romney will win Pa but then again I wouldn’t say its a crazy idea.

It is little noted that in 2004 Bush won Ohio by almost the exact margin (118 K, 2.1 %) that Kerry won Pennsylvania by (141 K, 2.5 %).

Finally, why is Maddow so busy telling her liberal viewers that they have nothing to worry about? Is she trying to depress turnout?

The bolt couldn’t strike a nicer guy, Mr. “Vote for Revenge.” The mask has fallen from this man’s face. The campaign of a man brighter and more talented than he has tested his character, and he has been revealed for the petty, small, narcissist he is. The pretty smile is only bright when people fall all over him. When times are tough or people don’t fall at his feet, he is petty and mean-spirited.

Wow, cool to hear that LOUD good news, even if it’s RealQuiet like! Man, I don’t know sometimes though. Theres so much shit flying around. Theres some new NBC/Marist poll out that has Obimbo up 51-45 in Ohio, and up a couple in Florida. I thought we had those totally in the bag? I am kinda new at paying attention to polls. I know that Rassmussen, Gravis, and sometimes Gallup are rock solid, but dont’ know much about the others. I’m sure Karl, Dick and Dean could explain this so that I can calm down. But can you? Thanks! Sooner the better, need some sleep

    • tlhoward

Don’t pay attention to the Marist poll or anything by NBC–really.

      • theiowan

That’s all I get? I want to BELIEVE but I am more fiscal conservative/military strength type of guy than a believer (no offense to believers). It helps me to understand the why, whether I’m working of my snowmobile or at the office.

New Florida poll shows Romney up 6.

          http://www.miamiherald.com/2012/11/02/3080246/poll-mitt-romney-maintains-lead.html

Romney is up 6+ in the I4 corridor according to Mason-Dixon a couple of weeks back. Obama is toast in Florida, has been for a while.

If Romney is within 4 of Pennsylvania, Ohio is probably a very tight race with Romney by a slight margin. If it is tied or he is ahead in PA, Ohio is Romney’s.

          • theiowan

            roger that. Thanks!

Iowan: all I can tell you is that tens of thousands showed up for a Romney rally between Dayton and Cincinnati last night, while under 3,000 came for BIG BRObama here in Columbus, where 55,000 college students reside, who are supposedly all voting for the Cool Black Dude. There are no guarantees, of course, but I believe – perhaps -that those numbers might just symbolize Tuesday.

          • APA Guy

Yep…GOP enthusiasm across the country is, in my opinion, greater than in 2010…with Dem slumber close to what it was in that election. That speaks volumes about how turnout will play out on Tuesday.

          • congressworksforus

Ohio poll is straight out of never-never land.

Dem +9 turnout projected. Remember, it was only Dem +5 in Ohio in 2008 at the height of “hope and change”.

Folks, Romney will be President #45, as. long. as. you. all. vote.

      • APA Guy

555…NBC/Marist has featured a consistent and unrealistic Dem slant to its sampling. Its results are really just anti-depressants for the Kos kids..nothing more.

  • oldtownyankee

This is exactly how Scott Defeated Coakley!!! We here in an area called the “South Shore” south of Boston and along the coast seized the moment and came out huge for Scott! we did the same thing for Mitt is 2000. This is Great News folks!!!!!

  • APA Guy

Obama wouldn’t be doing this if his internal polling didn’t spell trouble in PA. He ignored PA for most of the election cycle, and according to Michael Barone this morning, it might just cost him that state on Tuesday.
