Put On Your Big Boy Pants, Governor Quinn

The thin-skinned bully Illinois Governor Pat Quinn (D-Obamaville) could not take being bested on friendly turf with friendly questioners and a friendly host. As a result, Quinn reportedly told his staff to remove his debate opponent, Rep. Aaron Schock (R-Peoria, IL-18) from a Special Olympics luncheon and from a transportation planning conference to be held in the fall.

Quinn and Schock appeared on MSNBC’s “Mornin’ Joe” with Joe Scarborough, and later traded insults on Chicago radio station WLS-AM. Quinn spokesman Brooke Anderson presented the script of Quinn’s drama to the Chicago Tribune, responding to a suggestion about Schock as a possible GOP gubernatorial candidate in 2014:

“Gov. Quinn is not thinking about potential opponents. He is thinking about public pension reform and would like to get it done in a bipartisan way,” Anderson said, noting that Quinn asked for Schock’s help with GOP state lawmakers. “An hour later, (Schock) was on the radio and running the governor down.”

Because Quinn got his feelings (*sniff*) irreparably harmed by the brutal treatment (*sniff*) he received from the Congressman, he stomped his little feet, took one last *sniff* and decided to hold his breath until someone paid attention.   The Tribune:

Schock was supposed to appear with Quinn in Springfield at an Executive Mansion kickoff luncheon for Illinois’ Special Olympics. The Quinn administration contacted event sponsors and tried to get Schock removed from the program or to shift things so the two wouldn’t appear together, said event officials who asked not to be identified because they were not authorized to speak publicly about the matter.

I’m thrilled to have him as my Representative. It’s refreshing to see a Republican calmly tell a Democrat spouting talking points “That’s simply not true.” then back it up with the truth.

He’s been a major factor in getting other young Republicans elected to the house and he’s been a thorn in the side of the Democrats.

Rep. Schock cites facts, is conversant with a wide variety of issues, is funny, and takes Quinn apart.

Quinn seems to be auditioning for the part of Obama’s toady, not the Governor of one of the larger States, nor the Governor of a State that’s nearing fiscal collapse.

Just to the north is Wisconsin, I hear they have an excellent Governor and a surplus if you are thinking of making a run for it with Mrs. Cat and Junior Cat.

So far, sticking around for a little longer.

      Thing of beauty, really :)

I’m clueless look. Pat Quinn’s skull is dark, lonely place…no brain cells in there to keep you company…

        • acat

which is pretty much false even when he’s the only person present.

Of course, these same dunderheads elected Obama…but then again, so did my beloved Hoosiers in 2008…GRRRRR…

Neither could have gotten as close to the top job as they managed without a charismatic leader wanting an “insurance policy”.

The 2010 re-election of Quinn is almost entirely the fault of the decision by the Brady (R-cand) to focus more downstate and not on suburbia. Evidently, he believed suburbia would be sufficiently anti-Quinn… unlike Sen. Kirk, who played to both and won.

acat I strongly recommend hopping over to the morning briefing and lookup where lineholder has posted Joe Biden’s latest gaffe. It is a) hilarious and b) unbelievable if it were not Joe Biden….

Blagojevich/Quinn are the model Obama/Biden is following.

Quinn was, prior to Blagojevich needing someone from outside Chicago to “balance the ticket”, known as a statehouse Dem apparatchik/gadfly at best .. look up his resume on Wikipedia, he has no serious gravitas.

Biden was, at best, a Dem benchwarmer and Kennedy-cult member prior to Obama needing someone with plausible foreign policy experience, but who wasn’t going to overshadow him.

            The echoes are eerie.

When he has Joe Biden working for the other team?

          • acat

is relatively new… Spiro Agnew wasn’t Nixon’s red-meat guy… he was a guy who could bring in the votes and bucks. Ford wasn’t picked to be a red-meat guy .. he was picked because he was so clean he squeaked… but was competent.

George H.W. Bush wasn’t picked to be Reagan’s attack dog .. he was picked to shut up the gutless RINO wing of the party. He picked Dan Quayle to act as a sop to the conservatives, but one who wouldn’t overshadow H.W. himself.

George W. Bush picked Cheney, and although Cheney was often in the attack-dog mode, he wasn’t ever going to succeed Bush …

I see no reason why Romney, who seems quite able to go on the attack, needs a veep in this mold .. I’d prefer he pick either a favorite son who can throw the Dems calculations into chaos, or a young turk who can grow to succeed him in 2020.
