Zo Responds to Blow.

As some of you are aware, last Friday, I wrote in a Live Wire for The Minority Report that Charles Blow of The New York Times was an idiot and a racist. (And, my girl Jaded was kind enough to put my Live Wire in a Red Hot on Redstate—thank you Jaded.) Normally, I believe that name-calling is the hobgoblin of puny minds, and I loathe people who carelessly toss around the term “Raaacist!!” without any proof. However, if you read Mr. Blow’s column, you will most probably agree that Charles Blow definitely deserves the title of “racist idiot”.

In Charles Blow’s ridiculous column, he discusses his impression of a Dallas Tea Party that he attended–and yet he spoke to no one else there (he admitted this fact on Laura Ingraham’s radio show). (If you are interested, here is a good promotional video of the Dallas Tea Party.) There were so many offensive things in Mr. Blow’s column, that I don’t even know where to begin—like when he wrote that seeing a black doctor, a Mexican immigrant and a Vietnamese immigrant on stage together reminded him of “a bizarre spoof of a Benetton ad”, or when he complained about how many white people were at the Tea Party. However, what I found to be particularly appalling was when Mr. Blow referred to the minorities speaking at the Dallas Tea Party as “a political minstrel show”. What Charles Blow implied by calling the Dallas Tea Party “a political minstrel show” is that African Americans and minorities should all think alike and be liberals—and if they dare to think for themselves or speak at a Tea Party, then they are “putting on a minstrel show” for the white man. Now, in his nasty column, Mr. Blow singled out Alfonzo “Zo” Rachel, an African American conservative comedian who was performing at the Dallas Tea party, as part of “the political minstrel show”.

By the way, someone needs to inform Mr. Blow that it is quite normal for a comedian to perform for an audience—it’s what they do for a living. Was Bill Cosby putting on a “minstrel show” when he used to perform for predominately white audiences? What about Oprah Winfrey? Her audience is mainly white as well. Oh, and what about MSNBC? As our own Lori Ziganto points out, their entire staff is white. So if a black pundit is a guest on MSNBC, is he putting on a “minstrel show”? But, I digress.

Anywho, Zo finally got around to responding to Charles Blow, and it was a sheer delight to see Zo tell that pompous New York Times columnist just how much his column blows (pun most definitely intended). (H/T to Aaron Gardner and Big Journalism for the video. Please read Aaron’s excellent column about the “minstrel show” incident here).

Man, that was a thing thing of beauty, wasn’t it? ;-)

Y’all have a good night. (I know that I will after seeing Zo hand Blow his you-know-what.)

I’m glad that you liked it. :-)

And, I agree that Hell will probably freeze over before Blow responds.

land a Blow on him(I love puns).

  • texasgalt

I was there. A good time was had by all, except Mr Blow.

I didn’t see a single infiltrator, but there must have been 500 3-5 year olds with their moms and dads. Real vicious types . . .

Guy sitting in front of me was pretty loud. Insisted on high fiving me on the applause lines. Nice black man.

    • Susannah

….I would have liked to have been there just to meet all of the different types of people.

Anyway, I’m glad that you had fun. :-)

like me :) One thing the Democrats will NEVER understand is that Conservatives are unified and when WE speak it is OUR WORDS that heard NOT our sex and or skin colored that is seen, it is the OPPOSITE in the Democrat Party!

    • Susannah

Thanks so much for putting my diary in Red Hot!

      You’re a doll. :-)

Profound words. I wish Zo could speak at the Black churches where the people only hear words that keep them enslaved on the “plantation” enabled by Overseers like Charles Blow.

Blow’s noting of Zo’s former drug addiction was an effort to discredit Zo with the right. Blow is too ignorant to know that we on the right applaud those who have struggled and won.

So was Obama and he’s president. So, if Zo is a loser for it, Obama must be,too.

  • http://hillbillypolitics.com Steph C

    I didn’t kowalski because it’s a separate thought.

Blacks are more conservative than they claim out of fear that they’ll be tarred like those who speak out. They’re pressured not to and to vote Democrat as a sign of unity which really is nothing more than another form of slavery because it breeds dependency just like the slavery of old.

It’s a scary thing to go against the status quo but the message Zo really brings is, if you’re black, conservative, and speak out, you win. The Democrats are so weak, except in their own minds, they have only words with which to fight… false words and name calling.

When false words and name calling are all that can hit you, you’ve won. The false words are those that tell them they need someone else to do battle for them in the fight for equality negating the fact that “all men are created equal” while promising the trappings of equality wrapped up in government dependency programs, political correctness, and perpetual outrage over the superficial.

We (conservatives) don’t spend a lot of time on race because we look at people as equals and race/skin color/culture are external features that no one can change but what is one’s heart is what truly matters.

in the hall of great put downs in history. Thanks for diarying this, so I didn’t have to.

    • Susannah

I’m glad that you liked it. :-)

And, I totally agree that this is one of the greatest put-downs evah!!

The teaparties must be racist because the right percentage aren’t minorities, but when there are minorities there they aren’t real people, just a minstrel show. Do liberal black people kind of try to keep other black people on the Lefty farm by putting them down publicly if they stray too far? I don’t know, but that’s what this whole thing seems like to me.

  • Flagstaff

An observation that is making the rounds at Fox News is that since Obama had the support of about 95% of all blacks for his election, there is a mighty small base of them who might be interested in participating in events that tend to find fault with his work. IOW, there aren’t many blacks at Tea Parties because the ones who do come, come from a small part of the whole.

Yet it seems to me that there are plenty of others who have now changed their minds about Obama, yet don’t want to participate in the rallies for fear of being vilified for it, not by the Right, but by the LEFT. Judging by MSNBC interviews, they may be right. So the scarcity of black faces in the crowds doesn’t mean an absence of black support for Tea Party principles.

    • Susannah

There probably many African Americans who agree with us, but don’t want to deal with the Charles Blows of the world.

    • aesthete

Blacks comprise ~6% of Tea Party activists, according to the most recent polling. Considering the aforementioned 95% stat, that would seem to indicate that black conservatives are overrepresented, if anything, in Tea Parties relative to their presence on election day, which in turn would seem to discount most of the theories on racism circulating in the media.

  • From ME to You

He is an example of true talent rising to the top!

Hmmmm….I wonder what it would be like if he went on ‘SNL’??

(insert graphic of heads exploding here)

    • Susannah

      I missed you. :-)

Oh, and yes, I agree that Zo would be awesome on SNL.

Now, can I please have some lobsters? Pretty PLEASE? (Batting eyes.)

      • From ME to You

        Oh Susannah!!!
How could anyone, anyone refuse such a request?????

        5 Lobsters

        • Susannah

….I got my lobsters….and they are soooo cute! :-)

          Thankies!!

  • DavidS1787

When she asked the following Question:

Now why would Kelly O’Donnell ask this Question?

I believe the media should be asking!

    • DavidS1787

Now why would Kelly O?Donnell ask this Question to this Tea Party member?

    • Susannah

….That more people in the media should be asking why Kelly O’Donnell would think to ask this question.

In fact, if you click on the link to Lori Ziganto’s diary that I put in my diary, you’ll find that she discusses this issue as well–and in an interesting and colorful way (like she usually does in all of her diaries).

      • DavidS1787

        n/t

        • Susannah

          :-)

      • http://impudent.blognation.us/blog kyle8

Kelly is the kind of lefty who is utterly consumed by race. Race issues are virtually the only thing that matters to her. Witness her allegation a week ago that all black people were athletic.

In short, she is much more of a racist than anyone who was at that rally.

  • spainishirish

You assume in LeftWorld, susannah, that Zo is black. He isn’t there. Colin Powell wasn’t, either, until he endorsed a Democrat for president. Until Zo becomes a Democrat he doesn’t get his pigmentation back. Not one second sooner, either…

Other than that twisted world view shared by those on the other side of our Great Divide..great stuff!

    • Susannah

      ….I appreciate it. :-)

And, you must be right, because your explanation is the only one that could logically explain their completely illogical behavior,

  • Jack_Savage

We know that 95% of blacks voted for Obama. NINETY – FIVE PERCENT. So that would leave 5% that are able to think for themselves and voted for McCain. That would be 5% of 13% of the population of America.

This would mean that in order for conservative blacks to be represented proportionally at tea parties, they would need to comprise 0.0065% of the attendees.

    I think we’re there.

However, MSNBC has no blacks working for them, which would mean they need to hire more than a few people to hit the minimum 13% goal which they themselves promote.

    I think they’re a little short.

    • Susannah

Your math makes a lot of sense. :-)

    • cwilson

but 5% of 13% is 0.65%, not 0.0065%. We’re still there — the Tea Parties I attended had many times that number, though nowhere near the full 13%.

But…remind me again why we’re talking about numbers and quotas? Oh, yeah…some lefty that can’t stop talking about race decided to p** in our cornflakes, when the subject of the day is fiscal sanity. Got it.

      • Jack_Savage

It was late. That decimal point gets me again….aargh.

    • aesthete

so that would mean that blacks are overrepresented by about a factor of 10, if we’re using the percentage of blacks who voted for Obama as a baseline. (Even if we averaged out the percentage of blacks who voted for the Dem in Presidential elections since Reagan, I’d guess that they’d be overrepresented by a factor of around 5.)

Expect the media to shift the narrative to “anti-hispanic racism” with the recent poorly thought-out, but NOT racist, conservative anti-immigration bill that passed in AZ.
