Ted Cruz – Texas Senate race PPP poll coming up

I just got off the phone from a robo-pollster. I was expecting it to be a candidate-based poll but was surprised at the end to hear it was Public Policy Polling (PPP). They are polling the Texas Senate runoff races.

Since I had just early-voted for Ted Cruz yesterday, the last day of early voting for the Texas runoff, I was able to put myself in for ‘already voted for Ted Cruz’. They asked about favorable/unfavorable (Cruz “favorable”, Dewhurst “unfavorable”), how excited I was to be voting (“very”), political views (conservative), and whether Perry or Palin endorsements influence my vote (“no”). Aside from typical demographics, they asked if I was a Tea Party member (“no”, while favorable to Tea Party concerns, I think the concept of being a ‘member’ to a ‘party’ when it’s not a political party per se is a contradiction).

I am sharing to give people a heads up that PPP will release a final poll. Some key takeaways for others in this poll will be the intensity and the ‘already voted’. Many elections can be won or lost in Texas in early voting, and if my response is indicative, it will be a  good poll for Cruz.

    …And I live in Michigan.
    – I also strongly urge conservatives nationwide to stop today, and do the same. Praying, that is “Turning From Our Wicked Ways” has many ways of manifesting itself, and spiritually lifting up our Conservative Warriors when they are on the battlefield is one way to effect this…

Ted Cruz would be a superb, superb Senator, and a Straight-From-The-Factory fit (to quote Clint Black) for Texas.

As for PPP — eh, whatever. Garbage In, Garbage Out.

    • http://llphsecondrevolution.wordpress.com/ spoasteph97

Praying…praying hard. May God give Ted Cruz victory this Tuesday. May God Bless America!

  • sulmak

Since they did a poll from the 10th to the 11th and released on the 12th, they will probably release it tomorrow or Monday.

  • Freiheit (ZachV)

With momentum on Cruz’s side, I’ll be glad to have Dewhurst out of the national spotlight.

I’ll assuming that we’re going to get a lot of good news from the PPP survey.

  • The_Rebel

ahead 55-40 in early voting. I don’t have a link to the poll, and it may not have even been formally released yet. If true, Dewhurst will need a massive turnout on Tuesday to pull this out.

    • APA Guy

These elections, like nearly ALL elections, will be about voter intensity. Our side has it due to an unquenchable desire to oust Barack Obama before he destroys the country we know and love.

But conservatives in the primaries similarly have this intensity because we’re tired of scum-sucking, establishment types that run slimy campaigns and create legends in their own minds. Dewhurst has run a deplorable campaign full of nothing more than smears and nasty innuendo. He will get trounced when the full votes are tallied…mark my words.

      • The_Rebel

we’ll be getting our lectures from the likes of David Brooks and David Frum, two legends in their own minds.

also had some fascinating results regarding Rick Perry.

“Finally this is a story of surrogates and quite possibly a deep repudiation of Rick Perry. By a 31/24 margin voters say they’re more likely to vote for a candidate backed by Sarah Palin, who gave her support to Cruz. Only 16% of voters though say they’re more likely to support a candidate endorsed by Perry, as Dewhurst was, to 35% who consider it a negative. That’s indicative of Perry’s diminished political standing in Texas after his failed Presidential bid, and if Cruz really does end up winning big on Tuesday it raises questions about whether he would be able to survive a strong Republican primary challenge in 2014. In April we found him leading AG Greg Abbott 50-34 in a hypothetical GOP contest, weak numbers for someone who’s been Governor for over a decade.”

      • mikeymike143

after he bombed so badly in his run for POTUS, he now loses after going ”all in for dewhurst”. plus us tea partiers will go all out to defeat him if he runs for office again. perry wont even make it out of the primary.

        • checkmate2012

as you’re way smarter than that to know Gov. Perry had to do so. But we don’t know how he voted and never will. TX is different than FLA and all states when it comes to the Lt. Gov.

Our Governor is not washed up and is a pillar for the 10th amendment my friend from FL, moreso than any other Gov. I can think of to tell the truth.

        • PowerToThePeople

agree, but on this, you are way out in left field and really showing an arrogance that is indicative of an out of control Tea Party member who thinks they make the decisions.

I could care less what the polls say, Perry has been a great gov, is quite popular for the most part, and will win if he chooses to run again. His policies have been spot on for the most part and he is a great rep for staunch conservative politics. He is like by many of the Texas Tea Parties even though his support of Dewhurst was not the way they wanted him to go.

Stick to Florida matters, you are over your head when it comes to Texas matters. Every state in this country would be blessed to have a man like Perry running their state and we would be better off as a country.

          • greyeagle

I lived in Texas 16 years and voted for Perry in several offices. He has been an excellent Governor and the state has prospered when other states did not. I was extremely disappointed that he did not go farther in the Presidential primary. If he runs again, he needs a totally different campaign team. I would hire Dick Morris. He knows ever Democratic trick in the book and essentially where all the bodies are buried. Just a thought.

    • APA Guy

10-point leads in these primaries are a harbinger of good fortune…remember THIS one?

I’m weird that I don’t like/trust early voting so will proudly be at the polls on Tuesday…105 degrees will not keep me away for Cruz.

      • mikeymike143

i will be doing a redstate article on her in a couple weeks. you know she has a new book coming out in the fall on the lugar/mourdock race and her role in it.

        • APA Guy

…but count me in as being an advance buyer. Is there a way you can forward my contact information?

  • commonsenseobserver

Now we just have to make sure he doesn’t get a shot at succeeding Perry.

    • windwaker24

The Lt. Gov. position is stronger than the Governor position. Anyway I pulling for Dewhurst. He is a gentleman with a record. Texas is the envy of all of the other states. It surprises me how much people praise Texas at every turn, but now that Dewhurst is running for higher office, Texas stinks and is full of no good, shady people.

      • aeternalis

        Dewhurst, a gentleman?

Have we been watching the same campaign?

  • windwaker24

I was a Cruz supporter from August 2011 to April 2012. Cruz has done nothing but start fights. His website didn’t promote himself, but told me why Dewhurst is no good. It’s okay to point differences, but attacking for the sake of attacking because your record is thin is obnoxious and tiresome. Dewhurst simply fought back. I prefer positive campaigns, but when people prefer to fight than talk, I think it’s okay to take off the gloves.

    • windwaker24

      My comment was to aeternails.

    • belver

It seems like Dewhurst is a gentleman. I wish the same could be said for Cruz. He has a nasty temperament. His communication style is generally hostile. Throw in a good bit of paranoia and presto – Ted Cruz appears.

I urge all Texans to get to the polls tomorrow and vote for David Dewhurst. If Democrats are able to cross over and vote Republican — then please do so and vote for Dewhurst.
      Thank You

      • gekster

Havn’t been paying attention, have you.

“If Democrats are able to cross over and vote Republican ? then please do so and vote for Dewhurst.”

        Shades of Lugar.

        • gekster

pretty much says it all, and why RS supports Cruz.

      • windwaker24

Democrats and Independents cannot vote. At least that’s what somebody told me. I don’t agree that Democrats need to influence the election. Besides Democrats are rooting for Cruz for some reason. Don’t know why. They’re delusional. Neither one of them speak their language.

        • gekster

Do you have something that shows democrats want Cruz.
          Just asking.

Now, as to what I originally posted:

            Go figure.

I doubt the race is really on an significant number of dems’ radar, except for maybe the older retired ones, few of whom would try anything like that.

I’ve always thought that sabotage votes were somewhat overstated even in well publicized elections.

        • avagreen

( Democrat or Republican) can vote in the upcoming Republican run-off.

          • texashistorian

in that if you voted in the primary, you can only vote in a runoff for the party you voted for initially. Those that didn’t can vote in the runoff regardless of their stated party affiliation.

          • windwaker24

I’m looking to move to Texas in about 2 years (fingers crossed that it will be sooner than that :) ) and I was worried about giving up my Independent status in order to vote. Thanks for the info!

          • texashistorian

the way it works is you go to the polling station for primary voting and tell the worker which party you are voting for. You are given the proper ballot and are then registered for that party for the primary and any runoffs that follow on, but you aren’t actually registered as a member of that party.

          • http://impudent.edublogs.org/ kyle8

Do you teach Texas History? I moved here 10 years ago and I am just now starting to research it. I was amazed when I found out about the Taylor/Sutton feud. It made the Hatfield/McCoy thing look like a barndance. It needs a good movie. History is so fascinating.

          • texashistorian

Sorry, I had typed in a reply last night but it didn’t stick Kyle. I do teach Texas History. I enjoy it when it comes around in the schedule for me, and yeah, Texas has had some great feuds that would make interesting movies.

          • acat

Do you have to have voted GOP in the primary to vote in this run-off?

            Mew

          • tnfriendofcoal101368

if you didn’t your free to vote in the run-off.

          • avagreen

as a Republican, and can now vote in either the Democrat or Republican runoff as we have two in each.

Of course, I will be voting in the Republican runoff……..for CRUZ!!!!

If I wanted to mess things up, I could assume Cruz will win w/o my vote and vote in the Democrat runoff for the most conservative Dem.
On the Republican side, current Lt. Governor David Dewhurst will face former Solicitor General Ted Cruz, while Democrats vote between Grady Yarbrough and Paul Sadler. The winners of each race will meet in the general election on Nov. 6.

          • texashistorian

be Dem crossovers to defeat Cruz if voters around the state didn’t vote in the Dem Primary. No signs that it is happening, or would even matter, though.

      • acat

I think you may have those blinders on a little too tight … the Dewhurst campaign should be a Superfund site.

        Think for yourself, eh?

        Mew

        • windwaker24

I watch candidates, not ads. Actually I’ve been watching Cruz the entire time. I only started paying attention to Dewhurst in early June. The first and only Dewhurst ad I’ve seen was the “Welcome to Texas” ad that was put out on Friday. It was nice. Dewhurst talks about his record all of the time. It’s on his website. Like I said above, even when I was Cruz’s supporter it unnerved me that his site was basically “Vote for me, cuz Dewhurst stinks!” I kept waiting for him to tell me why TX should vote FOR him.

The only thing I heard him say was he defended conservative stuff in court, which is good and fine, but the things he was defending in court for Texas were 1) stuff Dewhurst/Perry passed into legislation and 2) done at the instruction of the AG Greg Abbott. SGs don’t get to decide what will be defended. An SG does what the AG tells them to do.

          • acat

To be fair, I’m not in Texas, but … I haven’t observed that.

Further, I *can* see that Dewhurst is getting a lot of support from Austin – a city many Texans tell me is *not* representative of their State.

Finally, most of the Dewhurst supporters who have shown up on Red State have been .. painful to watch. Instead of talking up Dewhurst, they’ve spent their entire time slamming Cruz; exactly what you accuse Cruz of doing to Dewhurst, in other words.

            Mew

          • windwaker24

and Dewhurst is fighting back. You and I are in the same state (for now), so I have the same access you do. I haven’t been to Red State in a while (and this is the last race I’m following, so after this you probably won’t see me again unless something interesting happens :) ) so I don’t know what other Dew backers have been doing. But Cruz supporters aren’t clean and innocent either. This morning I woke up to a nasty tweet saying that Dewhurst needs to get in contact with a rope saleman (supposedly to go hang himself) come Tuesday and he needs to take Gov. Perry and Dan Patrick with him. Now if that isn’t the sickest thing I’ve ever heard! All over a d*mn race! Then there are the attacks on Capt. Dan Moran for having the nerve to support Dewhurst.

These kind of things coupled with a lack of record of actually DOING something made me switch. I believe in the traditional role of the Senate where the founders wanted cooler heads to prevail and a give voice to the states. Cruz seems to want to pick a fight with everyone and be obstinate before he even gets there. We’ve got enough of that going on in Congress, people trying to 1 up each other and it’s tearing up this country.

If you don’t agree with him, you’re some shady person out to get him. Rick Perry has said nothing but nice things about Cruz, but decided to back Dewhurst. Cruz in turn implies that Perry is nothing but a liar and has questionable motives. Someone who starts out with a chip on his shoulder because things don’t go his way doesn’t belong in the Senate. Cruz needs to learn when dealing with other people, things don’t always go your way.

As the Founders intended for the Senate, a senator’s focus needs to be on his home state and the Constitution and no one else, not the approval other people in the Senate or other people from other states. I’ve seen this focus from Dewhurst, not Cruz.

          • gekster

Did you do any searches on what I asked you to do.

          • windwaker24

Cruz’s website was nothing but negatives about Dewhurst in the beginning (don’t know what it looks like now) that’s why I blame him for starting the negativity.Cruz was an unknown and lacked the record Dewhurst had, so he chose to attack him to bring him down and promote himself. Dewhurst stuck with promoting himself by showcasing what he did for Texas. Ads didn’t form my opinions about either of them. My negative view of Cruz was actually formed by watching Cruz alone.

          • Melody Warbington (rwm52)

since he spoke at RSG03 last year, including his FB page and his website. He spoke of his accomplishments in his speech then and noted them on his page and website. He went after Dewhurst’s record, including the well documented times he tanked conservative legislation and/or sided with Democrats. When Dewhurst started with the negative attacks, Cruz provided rebuttals. Dewhurst made personal attacks, and Cruz continued to go after Dew’s record.

You may not have watched the nasty ads from Dewcrist, but it’s a fact he ran them, and I really don’t understand how you can excuse them or why you would want to. It is certainly not a conservative trait to slander a man by accusing him of sympathizing with a child molester. If someone accused me of that, I’d probably do more than yell at him.

          • kipling

I don’t know who went negative first.

I do know that negative is one thing and slanderous is another.

Cruz has accurately portrayed Dewhurst as a moderate and as someone who has stifled conservatives in Austin. That might be negative but it is an honest assessment with which reasonable people can agree. Dewhurst certainly felt the heat because he removed some of his public speeches that contained those positions.

Dewhurst, on the other hand, has not not attacked Cruz honestly. Instead of assessing his career, he has accused Cruz of working to ship jobs to China, which is a flat out lie. In his most recent smear, Dewhurst accused Cruz of supporting child abuse and profiting from it – another lie. The email sent out by CLEAT from the Dewhurst camp is rather appalling and to my mind crosses the line entirely.

Dewhurst has also slander Demint and other conservatives because they supported Cruz.

Like I said, negative is one thing. Slander is another.

          • tnfriendofcoal101368

          • PowerToThePeople

Besides all the nonsense you are posting about so called Tweets which I can guarantee are they sent by the Cruz campaign so it has nothing to do with their campaign, the first real negative ads came days after Cruz forced a runoff and were put out by Dewhurst campaign. This is not even including some of the earlier not so harsh ones that can be accredited to campaign fighting.

Besides that fact, the Dewhurst negative ads have been despicable. There was a day on here, which you can look up, I stated numerous times I would be happy with either and both were good guys. Now, Dewhurst is nothing but a scumbag and I question the morality, decency, and IQ level of any person who puts the check by his name.

Now we have had enough blowhards in here tooting BS horns for Dewhurst, but you take the cake. At least they do not try to blow smoke up our rear ends with silly claims of Twitter proof. Thankfully tomorrow you will disappear from our sight, and that day is not coming soon enough.

          • gekster

Being sucked into the campaign is not bad, just misgjuided.
She is a good one. Don’t do a slam.
I know, she is good and is on our side.

          • PowerToThePeople

for her, but there still remains some issues she needs to correct such as being uninformed and stating nonsense as a reason not to vote for a decent man. Not too mention straight out false comments such as Cruz went dirty first. This kind of nonsense does not belong on our side and does not belong in decent debate. State who you like and why, but no need for the nonsense.

Maybe the Dewhurst nonsense will stop when Cruz wins tomorrow.

          • gekster

she is good, just bought into the Dewhurst tripe.

I haven’t once called anyone a name because that’s not how I do things. But I’ll take your advice and leave since I’m not wanted here. Please have a good night and a good night and good luck to everyone else as well!

          • checkmate2012

from Cruz’s campaign? It seems that some you hear may be attributed to PacAds and there is no way that Cruz would sned out a tweet like that!

I agree with your last paragraph, but it seems slightly contradictory to this, “Cruz seems to want to pick a fight with everyone and be obstinate before he even gets there. We?ve got enough of that going on in Congress, people trying to 1 up each other and it?s tearing up this country.”

Cruz stands for the Constitution and won’t vote to just get along for the sake of harmony. I want that in my Senator and all elected officials.

We can see how well compromising is getting us so if Cruz is obstinate, I’m going to reward him with my vote tomorrow.

          • windwaker24

I mean a “my way or the highway” type attitude. When dealing with a large body of people from different places, different ideas are going to come up and one needs to know how to adapt and come up with a situation that works for everyone, not just sitting around saying “No”. If something is unconstitutional, like you, I want my Senator standing on the Constitution and a “Heck, no” is warranted. That nobody should ever waver from. But for little constituional policy disputes, I expect my Senator to earn his paycheck and work!

I don’t doubt Cruz loves the Constitution. He needs a little more substance to his thin record. Defending Conservative values in court is great, but what has Cruz done outside of Perry/Dewhurst/Abbott instructing him to do so.

          • checkmate2012

can do at this point. I’m sick of squishy representatives giving in to look like they are crossing the aisle to get things done. Enough is enough as compromising has got us to this crisis in our country.

Someone has to start saying no or we will never recover. We are so far gone from Constitutional values now and our only hope has been the rise of the various TEA parties. Amen for Americans saying no.

          • sulmak

I have been hearing negative ads from Dewhurst for months on radio, since before the original primary. I had heard a few positive ads by Cruz back then, no negative.

My Grandma always has either Fox news or CNBC on in the background at her house. I don’t normally watch TV. I’ve was spending time fixing something there for about a week the week before last, tons of negative ads by the Dewhurst campaign on those channels. The only Cruz campaign ads I saw were simply point by point defenses against the mud hurled by Dewhurst, and I guess you could call saying the Dewhurst campaign is lying “negative”.

I did see one negative ad against Dewhurst by an independent PAC though, but it wasn’t before Dewhurst opened up, and it wasn’t anyway near the volume Dewhurst put out.

          • gekster

Dewhurst wanted an income tax in Texas.
Dewhurst stopped an anti sanctuary cities bill.
There are many other things Dewhurst has done to ‘reach across the aisle’ and ‘go along to get along’ like McCain does.
But of course he won’t tell you those things.
Look closer to what he has actually done, as opposed to his ‘I’m a conservative’ campaign ads.

          • gekster

Just what the hell is up with that.
Will someone please explain that to me.

I hardly ever look at any candidate’s ads or websites. I look at websites when they first announce to get a feel of the person and where they stand on the issues. After that, I look solely at the candidate (body language, evidence of rehearsed lines, etc.) Dewhurst, to me, seems calm and collected. Cruz, as someone else mentioned on other site, acts like protestor. Always angry, itching for a fight.

I don’t know much about the income tax issue to comment on it. I’ve seen some people say it’s false. But even if it were true, there is no income tax in Texas today, meaning if Dewhurst pushed it, he stopped when somebody told him to, the hallmark of a good legislator.

The sanctuary bill has been explained non stop. It died in the House. Dewhurst passed it in the Senate. If you want to blame someone, blame the Speaker.

Working with Dems I have no problem with, as long as the Constitution and conservative principles are not far behind in your mind. “My way, or the highway” is the problem we have right now in both chambers of Congress. Harry Reid is sitting on legislation due to partisianship. If Dewhurst can get Dems to work with Repubs without forsaking the Constitution, more power to him.

          • gekster

Don’t go into this blind, as you seam to be doing.
Dewhurst is the rino, and I have looked at every angle.

          • windwaker24

and “Establishment” ain’t far behind. :)

You disagree with Dewhurst, which is fine to do, but the guy, in my opinion is a conservative. Texas would not look the way it does if it were run by squishes. I’m remember when Perry was running, everybody was praising how taxes were kept low and tax cuts and transparency overfloweth. Well, Dewhurst controls the budget and has a part in that. Now that he is running, Texas is a bad place with shady practices. People can’t have it both ways. Their records are intertwined.

          • Melody Warbington (rwm52)

on Dewcrist. Read these and then come back and say that Dewcrist is a gentleman and was defending himself. Forget the fact that he’s a moderate who goes along with Democrats when it suits him.

            .

          • windwaker24

Again, I don’t look at ads (Dewhurst in B minor) and I believe DeMint, even though he is my favorite Senator, is overstepping his bounds. I disagree with Erick articles, though as always nicely written. I don’t understand he can heap praise on Perry, but trash Dewhurst. Perry is not king of Texas. If Perry wants something done, he has to work with Dewhurst to get it done. Perry is not a separate entity all to himself.

Yes, I still say Dewhurst is a gentleman. He hasn’t yelled at Cruz once even though Cruz takes every opportunity to yell at him. He keeps his cool and talks about what he’s done for Texas, and I like that.

          • Melody Warbington (rwm52)

He started the Senate Conservative Fund to which conservatives all over the country donate. It helped to elect Senators Mike Lee, Rand Paul, Ron Johnson and Marco Rubio. On behalf of SCF, he represents almost 9,000 Texans who donated to SCF. That’s a pretty large group to represent. As noted in my comment here:

PACs have given approximately $800,000 to Dewhurst compared to only $223,000 to the Senate Conservatives Fund. Meanwhile only 3,023 Texans have donated money to Dewhurst compared to 8,985 Texans who have given to SCF.

This isn?t a fact David Dewhurst wants to hear, but DeMint?s SCF has nearly three times as many donors in Texas as the Dewhurst for U.S. Senate campaign.

One of the most despicable things Dewcrist has done – any politician for that matter – was to run an ad about a young man who committed suicide after his release from one of the PA jails he mentions in his smears. Cruz? involvement was in the civil matter long after this young man died. Dewhurst exploits the mother, and he should be ashamed. Cruz had nothing to do with the criminal case, yet the ad implies Cruz had something to do with the suicide. It is a damnable lie.

          • checkmate2012

and I can’t believe the Mom agreed to doing it. Dewhurst is desperate indeed. I’m sorry windwaker can’t see the truth after I posted proof positive articles.

Melody, did you see the belver to stricia change? I thought I was loosing it! Where are the mods tonight?

          • Melody Warbington (rwm52)

            almost immediately.

Perhaps a shot of Bengal Roach Spray would do the trick. I started using it several years ago in lieu of a monthly pest service and haven’t had any problems since. You know, the pests can get pretty big in the south but we know how to handle ‘em.

That ad alone is enough to expose what Dewcrist is. I’m praying he goes the way of Lugar.

          • checkmate2012

Ya, the pests are huge in the south- I’ll have to buy that brand ’cause I have big grasshoppers!

I’m with you on Cruz and can’t wait to vote tomorrow! Just sorry that windwaker is holding steadfast after all the proof provided and now she (per gek) is moving to TX.

I still wonder what Dewboy will do after he loses…praying tonight like you for Cruz.

            Goodnight.

          • tnfriendofcoal101368

          • checkmate2012

publicly paid website that contractict his statements in debates and in his ads. He can’t be trusted as he has flip flopped on a payroll tax (we don’t have income taxes here but this would accomplish on in essence) and on giving guest-worker passes to all illegals in the U.S., not just TX. Both items he denies and both were found on his website before he had the staff scrub it.

We’ll welcome you to TX when you get here, but if you’re leaning towards Dewhurst, I’m glad you’re not here yet :)

          • belver

In other words — are you not making this up?

Do you, checkmate2012, have proof that “Dewhurst has removed things from his publicly paid website that contractict his statements in debates and in his ads. “

          • gekster

And you are an idiot to have not searched that fact.
            Give it a try.
Do a search on ‘Dewherst removes speaches.’.
Give it a try and get educated.

          • checkmate2012

open records request was made by the Young Conservatives of Texas, with a partial quote below.

See article, “YCT files open records request on Dewhurst speech removal” on
            http://blog.chron.com/texaspolitics/2012/07/yct-files-open-records-request-on-dewhurst-speech-removal/

“Dewhurst said in the 2007 speech that he supported guest workers programs ?for those here illegally?, a comment highlighted by the Ted Cruz campaign after Dewhurst said in debate that he was against guest worker programs unless the border was secured.

Lauren Thurston, the Lt. Governor?s state spokesperson, said the office asked for the speeches to be archived by the secretary of the Senate last year, which would have deleted from the website, but that task was never completed. After calls came in regarding Cruz?s use of Dewhurst?s comments the office says it realized the error and asked for the speeches to be archived again.”

          • checkmate2012

“The Cruz campaign questioned why a speech that Dewhurst gave in 2007 supporting a guest worker program to allow illegal workers to remain in the country was no longer available online. The link to the speech was still active less than a month ago when a reporter for the San Antonio Express-News blogged about how Dewhurst’s campaign now says he opposes such a program (http://bit.ly/MVHMYd).

Matt Hirsch, a spokesman for the Dewhurst campaign, said campaign workers had no knowledge of the deletions and was not coordinating with state workers, which is forbidden by state law. A state employee in the lieutenant governor’s office said the order to remove all of the speeches, which she referred to as archiving, was not new.

“More than a year ago, we asked the secretary of the senate to archive all of the speeches on our website,” Lauren Thurston, the official spokeswoman for the lieutenant governor, said. “When we saw recently that all of our speeches were not archived, we called the secretary of the senate and made sure that our original request was completed.”

Thurston said she did not know why Dewhurst had asked for his speeches to be removed from the website, but that they are still available through public information requests.

There is no law against a public official removing official records from a state-owned website.

Cruz’s campaign has centered on painting Dewhurst as not conservative enough to represent Texas in Washington. Cruz has complained that Dewhurst has tried to cover up his “moderate record.”

“David Dewhurst has gone from whitewashing his record to literally deleting it, but Texans aren’t fooled,” Cruz communications director John Drogin said in an email to reporters.”

“I don’t trust that liberal rag The Chronicle. I’m a Conservative. Why would I trust anything out of that liberal rag?”

it didn’t work for her and it won’t work for you with that kind of attitude. I’m sure you wear a tin night cap.

If you think I believe the MSM, you’re mistaken. If a group does a FOIA type request and his staff says they were asked to remove speeches, yeah I believe it.

You’re up past your bedtime child.

See here. Be sure to note the nasty, dishonest comments from the Dewcrist supporters.

Cruz has said he will back Dewhurst if he wins. Dewhurst’s ego apparently won’t allow him to say the same. See here.

Cruz has grassroots support rather than Austin establishment. See here.

Dewhurst supported a payroll tax. See here.

That’s just for starters. Read the diaries and comments I suggested to windwaker a few comments up. We’ve been at this for months and have debunked every single nasty smear Dewcrist has thrown at Cruz. His supporters have come to redstate and accused Erick of dishonest tactics as well.

          • Melody Warbington (rwm52)

in addition to the links I provided in my previous comment to you. There is some overlap here, but it’s good information. If you support conservatives, it should at least give you pause to consider the list of side by side donors and endorsements for Cruz vs. those for Dewcrist. Those comparisons really are striking.

You can’t get any more conservative than Senator DeMint who wrote a diary about Cruz whose has the majority of grassroots supporters while Dewcrist’s is centered in the liberal bastion known as Austin.
