Self Governance and a moral standard

The latter is the foundation of the former

Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other. John Adams

What did John Adams mean by this statement? To me it is obviuos. For a people to be capable of self governance as described in the Constitution they must first have their foundation set firmly in a moral code accepted by those to be governed. Many question how this can square with the idea that there be a “wall of separation between the Church and the Government”(paraphrased Thomas Jefferson). Again to me the answer is obvious. Indeed it is not the place of the Government to set or enforce a specific moral code but rather the responsibility of those who wish to employ self governance, to adhere and promote a moral life despite the government.

PBS Poll on whether Gov. Sarah Palin is qualified for the office of Vice President

Let's stick it to PBS

I am positive that PBS is expecting this poll to be a landslide against Gov. Palin, due to their usual audience. At this point not so much. The poll right now has 49% yes, 49% no.

I would like to ask everyone here at RS to go to this poll and let your voice be heard. If this poll shows overwhelming support of Gov. Palin we will probably never see the results, but if the poll shows disapproval for Gov. Palin, surely it will be used by the MSM as proof of concept.

So in order to stop the MSM from using this poll I urge everyone who reads this to go tothe PBS poll and vote for Gov. Palin if you feel she is qualified for VPOTUS

PAC with ties to Howard Dean running new ad about McCain’s cancer.

Ageism is the new racism.

So here we go again.

Apparently a PAC that has direct ties to Chairman Dean has decided to run a new ad called “McCain and Cancer”. This is a 30 second spot that so far has only graced the airwaves of MSNBC. GO figure!! Brave New PAC is affiliated with Democracy for America

According to The Caucus here is whats going down.

Two liberal groups – one of them directed by a brother of the Democratic Party chairman Howard Dean – will begin running a graphic attack advertisement Thursday morning raising questions about Senator John McCain’s health. Showing vivid and unflattering images of the fresh scar that appeared on Senator McCain’s face immediately after his last operation for melanoma skin cancer eight years ago, the commercial ends with a screen headline that reads, “Why won’t John McCain release his medical records?”

Funny, I don’t remember Obama having a press conference about his medical records…or birth records if we really want to go there.

Why McCain will beat Obama on Nov 4th.

When grassroots goes wrong.

Ok, so this isn’t really an important diary, it doesn’t expose some vicious lie from the Obama team. Nor does it bring to light any new information wrt William Ayers or Tony Rezko. No this is purely anecdotal evidence of the absolute stupidity of those who have made the leap to become Obama supporters based upon his “coolness” factor.

You know the type of people I am talking about. People who say things like “that’s hot”, all because Paris said it. People who have dogs that fit in their purse. People who blast out mass text msgs to all their friends with the joke of the day, which invariably ends up not even being funny.

Now this is how it’s done.

General Election time boys and girls....thank goodness for 527's

I saw this commercial on MSNBC tonight as I was watching Chris Matthews. Watch then we will discuss further why it is so brilliant and effective.

I have included the text of the commercial below so we can parse it for all it’s greatness. I believe that this is such a great add for a few reasons.

Former Rep Joel Hefley to endorse Jeff Crank.

Time for Doug Lamborn to be primaried.

In the upcoming congressional primary for CO 5th CD, Rep. Joel Hefley(ret.) has endorsed Jeff Crank over the incumbent Rep. Doug Lamborn. Crank was a former Administrative Director effectively running Rep. Hefley’s Washington Office.

Rep. Hefley wrote an opinion piece in the Gazette on Friday detailing his relationship and endorsement of Jeff Crank. Below are some of the highlights:

The eight years he spent in my offce bore out my initial impressions: he was smart, persuasive, bold, principled and energetic. In short, Crank proved to be that rare man capable of changing Washington for the better.

But just as importantly, he possesses the strength of character that will allow him to stand up to party bosses when they’re not acting like real conservatives – the strength of character capable of shaking up Washington from the inside.

Crank is the only candidate to sign a pledge placing a self-imposed moratorium on earmarks, and he’s also promised never to exploit the congressional franking privilege to send out mass, unsolicited, selfpromoting campaign ads on the taxpayer dime.

Rep. Hefley sums up Jeff Crank in one paragraph:

The 5th Congressional District is one of the most conservative in the country, and its congressman should be one of the country’s most notable conservatives. I have known Jeff all his adult life, and in my heart of hearts I know, and have always known, that he will rise to the occasion.

Hopefully the good people of CO 5th CD will make the right choice and add one more TrueConservative™ to the ranks of Congress.

Some interesting pictures…

Also a Friday open thread....And Farewell RS2.0

This last weekend I went to the car was to get my Jeep all cleaned up. While I was in the lobby waiting for my vehicle I perused the greeting cards they had for sale. Most of them were the regular old cards and silly jokes…but then to my surprise I saw these:

That one was pretty good but then this one is really something..

Hah…barely lasted 3 rounds with Hillary…Rocky you are not!!

Then after the weekend I came back to work and found this lovely picture gracing the halls of my work place.

Now I will not tell you the name of the company where I work but I will tell you that it is a major computer company that you all know, and it’s name I believe is indeed on the picture if you look hard.

Now I don’t have any problem with homosexuals, but is their sexuality special in the sense that it should be promoted in the work place. Why is it that we are promoting sexuality in the workplace at all?

Now grab a beer and have a blast saying good by to RedState2 and hello to RS3.0!!!
