MEMBER DIARY

2 ½ Years to Live

Cross -Posted at The Minority Report

In 2½ years I am going to die.  I know, it shocked me too.  I had a cancer earlier in my life and with the work of some really fine doctors it went into remission during the 80′s.  The cancer is a very rare form of cancer, one of the first cases was in France in 1715 and the Doctor who treated it was named John Law .  Unbeknownst to many the cancer started growing and mutating in the 90′s , At first the cancer went unnoticed as the manifestation of symptoms was not yet present, but they were there, waiting like a time bomb.  I had a doctor who noticed, but his priority patient was a soldier who we all needed to live.  He tried to give me a referral, but many of the doctors just wouldn’t listen.

In 2007 the time bomb went off.  Some of my organs were immediately weakened, but my spirit was still strong.  Everybody told me there was this new doctor and that he was not only the best doctor in the world, he was also the best at removing cancers, finally I had hope and really believed that things were gonna change.  With his treatments I was sure to be on the road to recovery.  I felt great the first couple of office visits, he seemed like he had it all under control.

Things started changing but not for the good, he was no longer talking with me, he was talking at me. A short time later he started pushing me to take treatments that I didn’t really want, but he said it was a crisis. I told him that I felt I was getting sicker the more he kept forcing the treatments, almost as if my insides were at battle with each other, but he would not listen.

If I continue on the same course as the Law case,  I could die in 2 ½ years.

This is a sobering reality.

We all go through the 7 stages of grief .

But I am not dead yet…I am beyond the depression and the upward turn.  I am working on reconstruction and working through.  With enough work, maybe I can overcome this cancer.

I have my eye on a new set of doctors, similar to the one back in the 80′s.  Unfortunately I am going to need to raise a lot of money. so I can get out from under my current doctor’s bills, and I won’t be able to begin my new treatments until Jan 2011 because I have to clean out all the trash in my system and then bring all the new doctors in.

I am asking you to help me.  I know all of you here at RedState are great people, and I promise this money will go to good use.

I thank you all for the contributions…they may just save my life.

God Bless,

The United States of America

The links make a great supporting case . . . just outstanding. Thank you for this. It’s a keeper. I plan on forwarding it to friends and family.

    Take Care, mailloux

  • JadedByPolitics

the new doctor you need will have to be BRUTAL and VISCIOUS to EXCISE the TUMOR that is The One….it a virulent and aggressive cancer that requires the most aggressive treatment available :-)

  • Aaron Gardner

for the comment and the reco’d

  • Aaron Gardner

I think we are getting the right type of “Doctors” prepped for surgery in 2010.

Thanks for the reco’d and comment.

  • E Pluribus Unum

Especially at first when I thought it was about you (I keeed, I keeed).

Very good underlying message, that we had best be about heeding.

  • Aaron Gardner

oh and you know you would be sad if it really was me…then you would need to find a new protege and do interviews…too much hassle.

  • http://andrightlyso.com/ civil_truth

Unfortunately, he’s gone into retirement after being mugged by his boss. However, he’s speaking out and perhaps could be persuade to end his retirement. Not sure, however, that the patient will be out of denial by then to become his patient.

I hear he’s got a daughter who’s a chip off the block but is in need of more training. Perhaps we can find a way to speed up that process, though 2011 is probably too early.

I also have heard people talking about barricuda therapy, but most of the press and a lot of other people who’ve heard of it seem to have developed a serious barricuda phobia. Not sure if that therapy will be refined enough for 2011 – the clinical trial that’s underway is going to be very challenging to come up with favorable enough results to go into full production.

  • Aaron Gardner

We need a whole new staff…think House and his team….Plus the operation room(congress) nees to be flushed of all the doctors who got their degrees in Latin America(new hotbed of socialism).

A new chief of surgery won’t come till 2012…but at least in 2010 we can get the operation room functional and put the current chief of surgery in his proper place.

  • penguin2

Good analogy Aaron, and you know with any cancer, one has to remain vigilant.

  • http://andrightlyso.com/ civil_truth

…and then convince the patient to start installing them.

Right now, we’re having a hard time recuiting, even in states that should be our backyard (if I read the latest Senate races report).

It we don’t put a team on the field, we can’t expect to score any runs.

  • Aaron Gardner

And I wanted people to have that very visceral response…we need to start understanding that the economy is directly connected to our lives.

I chose cancer because I know how it made me feel when both of my Grandfathers died from it, then my Aunt died from it as well. My Father current;y has mild emphysema.

I am hard pressed to find a person who hasn’t had cancer affect their lives.

Thanks for your comment and your reco’d

  • mom2oneson

get a slap on the back of your head for scaring us!!!! ;) :)

  • Aaron Gardner

    or primary challengers…like Toomey.

I would love to see links from every state in play so people can donate to those campaigns.

I also think people should consider donating to the NRCC which is doing a 3 to 1 match on all donations until sometime in June. Make our donations work smart!!

  • Aaron Gardner

We need to humanize what is happening to our country….think of how much you would donate to save me…or a loved one from cancer…now go to the NRCC Matching fund donations page and they will match it 3 to 1.

We can beat the Dems in 2010…but we need to work like our lives depend on it…cause they very well may.

Thanks for the comment and the Reco’d

  • http://andrightlyso.com/ civil_truth

I mean, <10% of my locale voted for Bush in 2004.

However, I thought Chuck DeVore from down south showed good leadership in the recent California budget mess.

I’m not sure if he’s the right guy to run for the U.S. Senate against Boxer – moving from State Assembly to U.S. Senate is a big jump. Much depends on who else ends up running; at least he’s got legislative experience fighting against Democratic majorities.

  • Aaron Gardner

and as far as making the jump…I am more encourage by his willingness to step up than I a discourage that he hasn’t taken the same path as the crew currently holding the levers of power.

Fresh ideas and a fresh perspective are what people like DeVore can offer.

And since my new neck of the woods is VT..I fully understand your feelings of starvation!!

  • Rod_Patrick

    Sad diary BUT excellent indeed.

    We need to save USA.

  • Aaron Gardner

appreciate the comment and reco’d…and yes…we definitely need to save the USA!!!

  • http://www.georgeclaghorn.com George Claghorn

You had me worried there, until I clicked on the links. This is a great analogy for what America is going through right now.

    Excellent diary.

  • http://theminorityreportblog.com David Hinz

or visa-versa anyhow, I WOULD have reco’d this if I was able.

  • Kowalski

But what I think is going to happen is that the country will survive in a vegetative state, and it will be a lot more like what the European Union wants it to be: much less competitive.

Since they can’t keep up, there’s only one option: Obama has to knock us down.

  • http://hillbillypolitics.com Steph C

Currently, how many of our Congress critters are lawyers versus something else?

Our founding fathers were not all lawyers, either. I don’t think many of them were but they were all thinking men with clear values. The Constitution isn’t that hard to understand unless you’re trying to find a way around it, which is what Congress does.

Look for thinking people with clear values that match our clear values… oh,not perfectly because no two people think exactly alike in all instances but enough that we know they’ll go to the Beltway to do battle in the fight to return this country to its founding principles.

  • spreadthered

Typically, doctors treat cancer patients with radiation treatments to shrink the cancer. Apparently that is causing this cancer to spread even more so let’s think outside the box and turn it around and aggressively treat the doctors and nursing staff with one swift radiation treatment instead. I’m no doctor and I don’t play one on tv but I believe the aggressive treatment may be called an “A-Bomb Cocktail.”

Something tells me that might work wonders, perhaps it may even go so far as to cure the cancer entirely.

(*Note to FBI – This is only a sarcastic joke in response to the analogy above.)

  • http://hillbillypolitics.com Steph C

They verbally abuse us day in, day out and we turn the other cheek. 7 time 70 is what I’ve said before but that’s actually wrong. I looked up the verse I was referencing and it’s actually 77 times in response to the question of whether it should be 7 times. I’ll give them the 70 times 7, however, because they’ve already far exceeded that.

If that doesn’t make you feel better, then think of it this way. Sometimes you have to be cruel to be kind. We don’t have the luxury of playing nice anymore.

  • JustLeaveMeAlone

But where there is life, there is hope. And the patient has a fighting spirit.

I couldn’t help but think of two people I’ve known recently who faced this as individuals. They found new doctors; they tried everything recommended and then some; they journeyed far from home to try experimental treatments. They did not give up.

  • Dan McLaughlin

That said, a little voice of Mark Kilmer in my head objects to the use of cancer as an analogy. Since Mark’s not here to say it, I’ll just pass that along on his behalf.

  • Vegas_Rick

I’m gonna use up some band width tonight forwarding this.

    Thank you Sir!

  • http://andrightlyso.com/ civil_truth

But they aren’t on the hospital staff – in fact, they aren’t even licensed doctors. We already had one encounter some years back when they arrived for a visit unannounced that resulted in some deaths, but they haven’t gotten in the doors since.

However, the new chief of staff has decided that they’re just misguided teens who need some kind words from him, and it was really our fault anyway that misunderstaning occurred. And so he’s decided to open the doors, fire the security guards, and is waiting for them to bring him a present because he knows that they just can’t help but love him…

  • taralynn

now I’m upset for all of us.

Great analogy. I can’t decide if I’m irritated you made me worry over a complete stranger, glad you’re okay, or ticked because you can write like that.

I say time to give the ole’ girl a colonic. We’ve been ignoring the symptoms, pretending our national is perfectly healthy, minus the various headaches and occasional belly aches. All the wear and tear was normal, expected, typical, part of the aging process. But political disease is narcissistic, much like our current President. It wants attention, all of it, all the time, and will not be ignored.

Sorry to use a country song, but it fits. Maybe it’s time to live like we’re dying.

  • Aaron Gardner

I understand exactly where you are coming from. I lost bot my Grand Fathers to cancer, as well as my Aunt just before Christmas, and even though I didn’t know Mark, I read him. I thought about the story very hard over the past week before I could really put it together.

I admit though that my intent was to use the Strength of those affected with cancer, not just those that beat it, but those who fought it and finally succumb. This is the analogy that should be taken. How we as a country can overcome that or at least try. Even if we are merely standing athwart history yelling stop. I also wanted people to get the visceral reaction that comes with facing a real loss in your life. I wanted to humanize the Economy without the reader knowing, an appeal to their better angels, and then ask..What you would do to help heal this person. Now what would you do to help every person? .

I respect you concern and I hope you were not offended.

  • TNJim

thought I was losing a favorite Red Stater here. But after clickig some of the links I saw what you were up to. I still haven’t clicked on all of them yet but you present a great analogy to what the country is going through right now. As JLMA said above, this country has a fighting spirit, we haven’t given up yet. Donations to the Nrcc will help, as will seeking out all the conservative “physicians we can find.

Now I must go click that “Recommend this” button. Thanks for a great post

  • c17wife

    stuff here. Rec’d

  • c17wife

    Rec’d

  • Harold Vaughn

may be looking for generals instead of doctors to get us out of this mess. I certainly hope that there is a political revolution that can stop this before a military revolution is required.

  • Aaron Gardner

Thanks to all for the reco’d and comments…I am humbled.

  • Dan McLaughlin

Mark woulda said it, so I felt compelled to pass it on, since he’s not here to.

    Not offended.

  • janis

Next time you’ll know better than to ask! :-)

  • Aaron Gardner

I still think you could probably do a similar one with your theme. It would be nice to have your company on the Rec’d list…;^)

  • janis

I have no doubt that it will be timely no matter when it gets written. More’s the pity.

  • Aaron Gardner

I thik I am gonna add some additional links to it tonight.

You can also Digg it here, if you have digg.

    Appreciate your comment and rec’d

  • Aaron Gardner

The strength is there for us to persevere. Hopefully recruiting of new fresh candidates will help us back in 2010.

Do you have someone in your area that people can donate to?

I don’t have any for my state yet Vermont…don’t know if we have a candidate to go up against Leahy…although i have heard rumors that there may be a challenger.

  • Aaron Gardner

You may have to get a new account for RedState to ever work correctly again….lol

Thanks for the comment and the rec’d in spirit.

  • Aaron Gardner

And you should be a bit worried…it’s a bad situation..the key is to focus that nervous energy into 2010…we will all need to give time and money…but I think we have a fighting chance.

  • Aaron Gardner
  • Aaron Gardner

I had no clue I was a favorite…thanks for the rec’d and comment. And i think the NRCC right now is a great opportunity…we could do a blog bomb fund raiser all the way unit the end of the Matching Fund event. You give $10 the match $30…we could raise a lot of money…which is good for recruiting.

  • Kowalski

The most important thing to realize about the Democrat sweep in 2008 is that it’s Donald Sutherland’s world right now, and he’s going to do what everyone in power does, which is: instrumentalize it. It’s not a secret among anyone I know that the Yurps have panted themselves to death trying to make America less competitive and more like them, particularly the French. Biden is a Europeanist and always was, and that’s the direction he and Barack are taking the country, mostly by reducing American competitiveness and weighing it down with much larger government and severe restrictions on American business.

We’re only in the first quarter of the Obama Administration and the signals are perfectly clear.

The sad truth is that American Capitalism did this to itself. Wall Street did it by following the model of Fannie and Freddie and doing it bigger, better and even stupider. Someone should have pulled the plug around 2005, but all of those people were making too much money to care.

  • Kowalski

In almost everything the Obama administration has done, from the enormous Stimulus plan to the wheezing effort to pull $100 million dolars from the Federal Budget to their polling and decisionmaking about the final form of cap and trade, and now on the H1N1 scare and the resultant international and intranational obligations it will require, what you are witnessing is a very profound shift, and a gigantic wealth transfer.

The wealth transfer is going to continue because the people who really advise the Obama Administration believe that it’s absolutely necessary that America become relatively poorer, less competitive, and less independent. There isn’t going to be any change in that fundamental belief over the next few years. Gore’s cap n’trade (despite Cass Sunstein’s best efforts to “nudge” people into semantic irrelevancy) is a tax and a wealth transfer mechanism. Most of the rest of what Obama wants is the same thing.

He’s only gotten to the first 100 days and look at what he’s done so far! I disagree with people who think they haven’t been important, because all of the major themes have been covered.

You Gonna Get Poorer. Count On It.

  • Aaron Gardner

So while we all still have a few bucks and the NRCC is doing a 3-1 match on contributions I think everybody at RedState should commit at least a $10-$20 contribution before the end of the matching fund in June.

If we can fund good recruiting for the house, and hopefully fund some individual candidates in the Senate, we can change the course.

I plan on making a donation and sending in a letter with an explanation. I hope we can do a blog bomb on this and jump start the NRCC’s war chest for 2010.

  • mbdam123

Excellent post… I saw a magazine article today from a Leftist pub that got me thinking about the Chrysler/GM buyouts and wrote a blog… goes hand-in-hand with the sentiment here… http://publius772000.wordpress.com/2009/05/02/can-the-government-save-the-automakers-ask-the-railroad-industry/

  • gonzo55

    Excellent post.

  • peg_c

Aaron, I realized about 1/2 way through (without clicking any links) exactly to what you are referring here. Excellent work. The whole family will love this.

    We are with you.

Incidentally, we were with our kids and the granddaughter (the one who is the Conservative in the Making on her website) last night and goofing around on the computers. When we powered up one of them, the site that popped up first in the browser was RedState. We’ve got them totally on board. :-D

$$ to the Young Guns, starve the Old Guns. YES.
