Needs to be passed around. And I agree, someone does deserve a raise.

Makes me feel a bit better about this Sunday, and the future of this country. I get down about stuff but I know when i see my young son’s, you can’t give up.
That being said, I just can’t figure out how with the election of Scott brown it

Teddy Roosevelt? I mean ANYONE paying attention to the history of “progressivism” would know that he is one of the pillars of that Movement! I am going to guess that whomever made this didn’t quite get that history lesson in school and is not paying attention NOW! Otherwise very good!

Or did he get left on the cutting room floor?

Our fathers, grandfathers fought and died for the freedoms this administration is deliberately destroying. we owe them a hard fought effort to stop these democrats, they are blinded by the power they hold. Please for their memory, for their children that never got to know them, lets all do what we can to the utmost to stop this government take over.

It accomplishes what it sets out to accomplish.

But I have to say (risking bringing the wrath of some down on my head) that the depiction of Pelosi/Reid/Obama as the usurpers of our liberties, and the Republican Governors Alliance as the solution to their restoration is a bit too transparent for my taste.

The American people have been ceding out responsibilities and the liberties that accompany them for far too long, and we have been ceding those responsibilities to Democrats and Republicans alike. No politician has taken what the people have not allowed them to take. Every liberty we’ve lost has been because we ceded our authority and our responsibility of self-government.

The crisis in government we face now has not occurred in a vacuum, nor is it isolated to this congress and administration. And just because the beastly crop of Democrats we now face are the ones who believe that they are intersecting with their place in Socialist history, does not mean that all of the problems we face can be laid at their feet.

If the video were to tell the whole truth, there would be smattering of Republicans mixed in with the Democrats who have so egregiously violated our trust, and the solution to the problem would rest SOLELY on the people, and not a cabal of Republican governors.

But as I said, I get it.

Why would anyone lend even a shred of credibility to one of the most corrupting and dangerous elements of the last century in a video released by the Republican Governors Association?

I thought that going forward, the primary goal was to educate the electorate and promote the conservative ascendancy, not the fundamental transformation of America…

You may not agree, but it is food for thought.

  • rbdwiggins

I’m almost positive it was unintentional, but the most corrupting elements of the Republican Party were included.

Yeah, it casts John McCain Lindsey Graham, and Newt Gingrich in the role of “good guys”, and offer Tim Pawlenty and Bobby Jindahl as some kind of solution.

It’s my opinion that “we the people” are far too jaded and politically alert to fall for this BS. We are sniffing lack of authenticity wherever it dares to rear its head.

As I said, nice video, and for what it’s worth, it accomplishes its goal. But if someone like me – who desperately wishes I could believe in its message – balks at it instead, who will it convince?

“Progressive” of his day or not.

Although modern Statist/progressives have built their tactics around taking advantage of people with some of the same (totally reasonable) concerns that Teddy Roosevelt had, their motives are entirely different — and I don’t believe it’s fair to naively lump Teddy in because they co-opted his language.

    Just a few examples:

Establishing National Parks is not necessarily anti-conservative — if it is done for the purpose of preserving it, rather than in order to take it away or otherwise deprive its usage from its rightful owners.

Breaking up monopolies is not necessarily anti-conservative — if said monopolies exist through the suppression (eg., using fascist/crony-capitalism techniques) of competition, rather than through a lack of competition.

Enacting basic safety regulations (eg., food and drug) are not necessarily anti-conservative — unless they deprive a people (who understand and take responsibility for potential risks) of using a product which is made and sold in good faith.

TR and even WW were your basic Northeast elite, Methodist or Presbyterian do-gooders who thought you should use the power of the state to hurry along man’s perfection. Even FDR was pretty much of that mold but by the time you get to FDR you have a very active Comintern and a lot of active Communists and fellow travellers in his government.

The liberals through Carter anyway were still Americans interested in the well-being of America. We on the right may not agree with their policies but I know I don’t question their patriotism. Even Clinton, who was poised to be just as radical as Comrade Obama in some ways with the help of his wife back off and governed pretty much from the center when confronted with real opposition.

Comrade Obama is not an American – and I’m not saying that in a Birther sense – he really doesn’t like this Country and beleives it should be fundamentally transformed. Beck does a great disservice when he conflates Comrado Obama and his cronies’ actions and ideology with that of people from a century ago who were at most statist reformers, not radicals.

The Republicans are solid right now against this cram down. It is not the time to be talking about “corrupting elements”.

We are nearing (on the eve?) of a critical watershed vote. This is the time to inspire and be totally united. So, check your fire!

I honestly fear for the future of our once great nation. What are we leaving for our children?

    But I will not surrender.

    See you in DC Saturday.

If they could trim this to under a minute it would be TV ready.

Thanks to the RGA for this. I am pleased to have Haley Barbour at the helm of the RGA as I think that he is a great strategist and knows how to win elections. This video is an excellent piece of work. While things are in serious peril now, I do take solace in knowing that we have some great governors out there and I am really impressed with the work that Bob McDonnell and Chris Christie are doing already in their respective states. Along with the support that we are providing for the Marco Rubios and Michael Williamses that are running for office, we also need to support the RGA and increase the number of governors that we have out there like Bobby Jindal and the two aforementioned in Va. and NJ. These are certainly trying times, but we will break through and turn things around with the right people in place. Thanks!
