The “I can’t think of a witty title for this” Open Thread

So, I was doing some late evening reading and came across Dan Riehl’s post on this week’s cable ratings. Dan’s focus is primarily Sarah Palin’s premiere, but that’s not my focus tonight.

No, instead, I bring you sheer boosterism of Dear Leader Erickson. Shameless, I know.

But I *do* have a point … John King USA sucks without Erick.*

John King, USA was way down Thursday night, with just 81,000 viewers in the demo and 482,000 total viewers. That was the lowest total viewers rating from 6pmET-MidnightET.

Erick wasn’t on Thursday night. Close enough to causation for me.

G’night all.

Aaron B. Gardner

* Sorry for the edit, that sentence just wasn’t flowing for me.

I actually sat down at McDonalds to see Erick.
They had CNN on when I got home. Wife was out with her Parents and that was dinner for the night.

He wasn’t there. I wasted time and calories… it was a sad day for me.

    Erick,

Without going into finances that are none of my business… how does being a talking head pay?

I’m only interested in the technical side of it. Do you get X amount a year… or X amount a show… or promise to do so many segments a year…

I’ve always wondered how that worked. I would to have some “inside baseball” knowledge.

When is Erick going to be on?

If a level headed conservative is going to be on CNN, I’ll support the guy. They hired Erick because they thought he’d help bring ratings to the show.

I remember the days before Rush and the Internet. My dad would would watch the news and tell me how every show would go.

“Son, they have 5 democrats and one republican, and they find the craziest one they can.”

I don’t know what I’d do without Fox and RS and Talk radio.

Senator Grassley is up in 2010.

Conservatives will likely be grinding their teeth over this
guy for another 6 years. Grassley is 76.

Here’s his latest little gift. Conservatives wishing to make their feelings known about the senator’s nibbling around on the health care bill can do so here.

I suppose this is what you get in Iowa. At least Senator Grassley is pro-life.

If current law makes it illegal to purchase healthcare across state lines, doesn’t that, by definition, mean that you can’t use the Commerce Clause to justify the personal mandates in this bill?

“You (world powers) can cut your own throat, jump up or down, issue statements and declarations and pass resolutions… but don’t think you can stop the progress and building of the Iranian nation.”

    Yes We Can.

    Imadinnerjacket should start using it.

    Really.

An added zinger would be if they ‘change’ the Iranian nuke program logo to something red white and blue in a circle.

Call the program “High-tech Operations for Persian Electricity”…… or, H.O.P.E.

    I’d actually laugh.

I’m going to think it is one of the Dems disappearing. I know, I have to work on my Christian charity. :-)

God’s Blessings upon you in the Promise that is Easter, Tbone.

I wrote a short diary about a TV show last night, requesting your inputs on how you would finish the story. Please read and contribute your political insights to make the mission possible.

thinking. “I was against it, but I contributed to it by pushing one of its provisions that add to its cost.”

And about any demand that we tell them “a specific item that is wrong in the bill”–That’s like being asked to identify a mistake somewhere in the first five volumes of a not-well-researched encyclopedia. It’s possible, but it misses the point, which is that the WHOLE DANG THING IS BAD.

Repeal, then replace some of it.

And it is from the Washington Post!!!

    See:

    http://voices.washingtonpost.com/44/2010/04/obamas-17-minute-2500-word-res.html

    An excerpt:

“Halfway through, an audience member on the riser yawned.

But Obama wasn’t finished. He had a “final point,” before starting again with another list — of three points.

“What we said is, number one, we’ll have the basic principle that everybody gets coverage,” he said, before launching into the next two points, for a grand total of seven.

His wandering approach might not matter if Obama weren’t being billed as the chief salesman of the health-care overhaul. Public opinion on the bill remains divided, and Democratic officials are planning to send Obama into the country to persuade wary citizens that it will work for them in the long run.

It was not evident that he changed any minds at Friday’s event. The audience sat politely, but people in the back of the room began to wander off.”

So for 17 minutes and over 2,000 words, BIG BRObama berates a woman daring to believe that America is overtaxed, daring to question the wisdom of raising over a trillion dollars for a program that a majority does not want, especially during a recession.

    Who lacks confidence?

Is that the way to convince people? :)

here we have an AP story that says Obama was cheered at the National’s opening day with only a smattering of boos. They “keep it real” by telling us that a video of Bush was simply booed. See, Obama throws a wild pitch and still it is Bush’es fault.

Here we have cops in California barging into a persons home, banging on the door, breaking through the window. They see no need to identify themselves as cops and they say they don’t need no stinking warrant.
