    Love the news and cat!

  • joecollins

The cat is the story. Awesome cat. Weigel has shown himself to be a jerk. Did I say I thought the cat was awesome?

I hope Red State will consider supporting Westlake. I really think he can defeat Finegold.

Dave’s written a couple of excellent posts and have read a couple of diaries here about him.

I don’t think Finegold has won any race by more than 55%, and Wisconsin has been really close in Presidential elections in recent years.

presuming Mike Lee wins Senate race in Utah, how fast can he get to the Senate Judiciary Committee? How many hidebound R(h)inos are in his way? DeMint in the Senate was a holding action. DeMint + Lee in the Senate is a blocking action, and a force potentiator for all conservatives. Can’t wait. Yes the cat is awesome, too.

Comes this: to writ, a lefty bemoaning the jingoistic urge of soccer (or its true name, futball) fans to cheer for one’s team, in the fashion of the troglodytes who cheer for football This is unparodiable. No, really:

“It reminded why these kinds of international competitions can leave me with such a sour taste. Why can’t we just recognize that Algeria played gallantly against a better US team, which won by the skin of its teeth? Why must an insanely miraculous athletic victory also be a reinforcer of cultural supremacy? It’s yet another reminder why it is so important for progressives to not just thrill to the joys of sport but be conversant in the politics of sports. The right will forever try to pump the worst kind of racist, nationalist garbage through our play, even at moments that by all rights should be above and beyond politics and just about the electric thrill of the moment. Especially given the right

“almost every cubicle and office let out an extemporaneous yelp. Yes, NPR went wild.” What, they couldn’t muster even two yelps? I guess that would be insanity.

I think soccer is sort of like a golf game where gophers circle the green and knock the ball away if it come close to the cup.

behind Obama when he was talking about Medvedev and Twitters?

The darn thing looks like he stole it from Achmed d’Nutjob’s office in Teheran. Really. Maybe Iran sent it over as a gift, including bugs.

It seems committee assignments are kind of done when you first get there. It’s all changey-hopey, and it also matters that when we go from 41 to [47 to 51, take your pick] some extra seats open up. Coburn was on Judiciary the day he showed up. Maybe we can get Mike Lee there too.

I have the feeling DeMint can make a play for the Leader (be it majority or minority, still to be seen). If he does, you can be sure Judiciary will (finally) get stacked with a bunch of hard-nosed conservatives.

Pretty much sums up my interest in the whole Weigel affair,

Nice job, Journo. A circular firing squad worthy of………well, Republicans.

and in case anyone comes in with the “he’s a nice guy stuff” about David Weigel, he really doesn’t appear to be. Nice people don’t even think in the manner it would take to type something like this:

“I really can’t figure out why they do it — lack of fulfillment seems like a good enough theory. After all, I’m here [WaPo :) ] , and they’re where I left them in 2008.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to return to my rewarding job and large circle of friends. I don’t know how my ego will ever recover…”

That’s the type of thing a guy writes that’s always been a total d-bag. I don’t know him though, so writing’s all I’ve got to go on.

    Whoa… Deja Vu

    Just saying.

I am quietly hoping the next Congress will have new leadership on the GOP side. Probably never gonna happen at least until we take control in one house, though.

These guys are capable, but personally I think there are better, more appropriate leaders better plugged into the will of the people than the current crop.

you can get rid of the picture of barney frank hiking up his pants and smiling while standing next to dodd. Its way more than we needed to know.

(although truth be told, matt drudge does dig up the best pictures)

Nice job on the infiltration of this nest. But, Mr. Carlson, why don’t you just hint a little about who the other snakes inhabiting this hole are and where they work?

  • Doc Holliday

without the quote, the cat would be nowhere.
