New Game: Where’s the Flag

So, I tried a new game here in Denver. It’s called “find an American flag the Democrats put up.” Considering the elaborate effort they made to Obama up the town, they certainly would have found time to stick up a flag or two right? As in, not one built into the Pepsi center by someone else. Let’s play, hmm?

First, the compound:

Hmmm. Well, they must inside then, right?

Okay, short video. Let’s try photos then:

Hmm. I guess the Democrats just felt flags were too old fashioned for Obama. Maybe that’s why he took the flag off his plane. The Obama logo is so much more “now”.

Can you imagine the decorating committee meeting? “Flags are soooo 2001. We need something hip. How about, like, some stars on abstract backgrounds. Of course, that blue has to go. Can we get something that feels more “sky”? You know, it’s like, the environment. Drop the stripes wherever you can, too, they make you look fat.”

So if the Democrats put up an American flag anywhere, I don’t see it. But hey, at least they remembered their red, white, and Fox-news-blue colored “Bush Eats Babies and Destroys Science All The Time” bus. So there’s that, right?

That’s hilarious. Also, you’ll see that they use red, white, and blue (plus white stars) pretty much everywhere, but not in the form of a flag. Is this disrespectful? We can pretend!

Also, if you listen to the music played at the convention, practically none of it is traditional patriotic music. I say, if they play anything other than ‘The Star Spangled Banner’ and ‘God Bless America’, they’re disrespecting the troops. Even ‘Yankee Doodle Dandy’ would be pushing it.

  • tvjohn2

These are just distractions, a prime example of the old style of politics that Obama will liberate us from.

    • absentee

You know, you’re right. There’s nothing wrong with taking the flag “concept” and making it your own. These are modern times! That explains the Obama redesigned Presidential seal, too! Hallelujah I’ve seen the light!!

Scrap that anthem. That’s yesterdays-ville man. I say we open the RNC with “My Humps” by the black eyed peas. You know, so we’re as classy as you.

or just a parady of yourself? If you are indeed a reverse moby, then I SALUTE you.

If you are actually not, then the rest of this is for you:

The only things Obama plans to liberate me from are my freedoms, my security, and my hard-earned money.

      No thanks.

From what I’ve seen, this DNC is all about UNity
and the “world” peace and how we should all be
good citizens of the “world”. Having a US flag
actually visible at such a political event would
    be too divisive.

show the country how its done and why the Republican Party is the only true American party left.

no one uses actual traditional symbols anymore, unless they are being ironic.

Geez, you are so uncool. (accompanied by the obligatory eye-roll)

The racist/sexist/bigot/homophobe line is a Rush one.

  • Suzy

My folks came over from a former communist country and are sickened by the symbolism of the red stars all over the convention center. Don’t these clueless Democrats understand what that symbol means to people who were oppressed by the Soviet Union and other communist regimes?

Hey, give me a LITTLE credit. I have been duped by these before, and at least I had a suspicion this time….

Before you know it, I won’t be giving money to the ‘will work for food’ guys, and won’t fall for my brother’s “pull my finger” trick anymore.

      • Neil_Stevens

A real one wouldn’t list all three like that, using them quite so blatantly as the interchangeable ‘cards’ they are for the left. :-)

        • TexasTom

That flag is black and white (you could say that in a casual way back then).

I said before I get a thrill up my leg (hattip to Matthews) when I pass by the biggest flag in Fairfax County on my way to work and coming home…..and when the wind is right it takes my breath away!

and was struck by how much more patriotic the set was compared to the DNC convention back drop. Doesn’t say much for the state of the dem party.

Though American Flag can throw down in an aesthetics challenge for sure. Main thing is Texas kind of took it and made it better – you know it!

            and agree.

Last summer I lived in this townhouse where two old Italian sisters once lived – they died, and a relative sold it. I moved in and it was totally furnished. Found one of those American flags with the circle stars in a box in the basement. Love that guy.

          • DRAMA_TIME

It doesn’t have to be like that.

          • DRAMA_TIME

Looked back at your post. I just was wondering if RS had a non-stylized American flag on it – I couldn’t find one but didn’t look too hard.

            ?

  • Spartan4Life

Don’t believe that has come up at the Demo convention, either.

Somebody should compare the Katrina vs. 9/11 count.

  • VolunteerPride

Great diary. How do I rec it ?

  • Flagstaff

(assuming there is only one of them), drove through Flagstaff last week. It was quite a surprise to turn left onto a one-way street and see it parked on my left, facing the WRONG WAY.

Unfortunately, I didn’t have a camera to take a picture at the time. Should have bought one just for the occasion. It was such a perfectly appropriate direction for the Democrat Bus to be heading.

What is wrong with you people. I wonder how many of you spent any time in the military? Tell you what friend. You have to much time on your hands. Wheter you want to believe it or not a lot of Vets support Obama. I come from a long line of military family that were in the services over 20 yrs each. You don’t have a right to say who is a patriot or who isn’t. I don’t ever see McCain wearing a pin on his suit. Oh forgot he was a POW oops. If you want a flag I would be glad to send you a flag my father carried around during WWII. He was a life long democratic. He was wounded during WWII. He also served in Korea. Its ok to disagree with someone but you are being disrespectful to others. The republicans haven’t been doing so well the last 8 yrs. Bush brought us to war with a country that didn’t invade us. Now I had my say. I guess like this administration I don’t hold your point of view so I will be banned. But it is your loss. Look the mirror all the republican party can come up with is McCain who has a bad temper and will push the button before thinking. A lot of senators that work with him should to the right thing for the country and tell the truth about his temper.

        • Tim_Schieferecke

It seems pretty clear that you were typing this off of something else. No, I’m not a veteran, but the ones I know don’t have to use their status to try to pre-empt anyone else from disagreeing with them. Rush and Sean have seminar callers, I call seminar moby here.

          • ewyatt

It’s called “freedom of speech” and it can get testy on BOTH sides. Apparently you haven’t gone to the many, many hate sites run by the left which are FAR more intense than anything you can find here.

Nevertheless, after reading your comments, I still can’t find your point, other than anger at many of us for supporting McCain. And considering all, with Obama as the opponent, there are VERY good reasons to support McCain! Trust me.

  • maheanuu

When you manage to find a couple of Flags, please send them to me….

One to shit on and the other to cover it up with!

Fuck you Repig mother fuckers! You Facist cocksuckers deserve to be ratfucked back to the shit pile you crawled out of…

Did you forget your little blue pills? Kinda hard to one-handed post when you can’t “get a grip”, eh?

I see where it can be confusing looking at California’s and Illinois’ websites in that one would think you need a photo ID to get welfare, however, that is just not correct. As your article states, you must look up the facts. You are right, in Virginia, California, and Illinois identification must be verified, however this does not mean that it must be through photo ID. As deemed on their sites, it can also include social security cards, library cards, voter registration cards, or work or school IDs. Additionally, I understand the want to get rid of voter fraud; it is a scary thought to think that there could be voter fraud out there (such as has happened in Florida by the Republican funded Strategic Allied Consulting Firm who has been found to dump all registrations that were not Republican). However, in-person voter fraud which voter ID laws are made to combat does not exist. In fact, in a Chicago Tribune article published today (the Chicago Tribune is a conservative leaning publication) they stated that “Pennsylvania says no known cases of in-person voter fraud” were known. So in making these voter ID laws to prevent the non-existent in-person voter fraud, they are disenfranchising people that cannot afford a trip to the DMV to get an ID or cannot themselves afford an ID. Yes, these people could very well be on welfare and they probably got on welfare with a social security card or library card.
