I’m sure I’m alone here, but I tend to find pictures of the buildings exploding unnecessary as a “reminder.” I don’t need reminding, but I understand the discussion on the anniversary. However, when I see these pictures of the buildings exploding, or the planes flying in, all I ever think about are the family members of the people who were killed at that exact moment in time, forever captured in picture. I sometimes wonder if we ever think of them when we throw these pictures up every year on the anniversary as a “reminder.” I remember that day every day, and I think of those people all of the time. I don’t know; probably I’m being overly sensitive, but just a thought… still hard to see those pics when I know what is truly being captured and I wonder what the true purpose of showing it is.

Because we don't want to forget what that day meant

It wasn’t just two building that got demolished - it was the lives taken for no reason whatsoever.

Its one thing to talk about something in a very academic way, and not understand or feel anything. When you see the pictures, you are reminded of what really happened and what it cost. Sept. 11, 2001 is so much more than a political football.

Just your typical bitter gun- and God-clinger

Cry out, indeed.

This day does not get easier with the passage of time.
Despite the sun and the crisp fall air today, I still have the very same ache I had seven years ago. To be sure, it is not as sharp or desperate, but it is still there. And a part of me hopes it never leaves for then maybe I would start to forget. And we must NEVER forget.

thank you for this

As a city girl, I’ve been feeling somewhat marginalized and looked down upon. Thanks for showing pics of Ordinary Americans in the big cities. xo

Of course those pictures remind us of the people who died.

That is their purpose. That, and making certain that we never let this happen again. In a nation where more and more people are feeling that we’re safe from terrorism, we do indeed need reminders like this to keep them awake. “The price of liberty is eternal vigilance.”

“‘You come of the Lord Adam and the Lady Eve,’ said Aslan. ‘And that is both honour enough to erect the head of the poorest beggar, and shame enough to bow the shoulders of the greatest emperor on earth. Be content.’” — C.S. Lewis’ “Prince Caspian”

The one with the fliers/pictures of the missing was the one that got me.

We get the madness I saw today at a Community College, signs up for a world peace day and a peace pole but no mention anywhere of 9-11 or towers/planes.

Flags on the way were at half-staff (the schools may have been I wasn’t on that side of the grounds) but nobody I saw on campus wore any kind of remembrance.

A bit off topic here but Peace will never come to the world until force or God ‘i.e. some Armageddon type event’ imposes it. Either way Peace will never just happen peace is won not given.

And thanks for the Photos Caleb.
