MSM let out "Marine 1 plans" story to cover Obama to order new ones
JLenardDetroit Thursday, March 5th at 4:25PM EST (link)Remember from last week (nope, don’t have link handy) how the MSM was on about how Blueprints of Marine 1 have been leaked and perhaps (gasp) viewed by someone in Iran… but.. but… but…. I thought the “O” was supposed to talk to Iran and we’d be friends again!?!?! So why the concern all of a sudden!?!?
Remember too how McCain (and others) came out about orders for new Marine 1’s that would exceed the costs of an Air-Force 1 plane!!!
The MSM trumped up item 1, to cover ObamaBinBiden to go ahead with the order of the new Helicopters….. Never mind the MSM is also trying to play down the TERRORISM THREAT…. they suspend that line of thinking long enough to allow this Spending (but, Yes, it was a post 9/11 order by Bush to add security… but if Obama is supposedly so NOT worried about Terrorism, he doesn’t need them…. Of course, yet another talking out of both sides of his mouth by ObamaBinBiden)….

Barack and Blockbuster
jonreagan Thursday, March 5th at 4:28PM EST (link)Kind of fitting, the juxtaposition of Obama and a Blockbuster sign.
Blockbuster is collapsing under credit pressures and high debt, rumored to be near bankruptcy, and its stock is down to $.49/share. And it’s getting clobbered by smarter, more aggressive competition.
Maybe an Omen for the future.
You'd think Obama

The FDIC May Be Insolvent Sooner Than You Think
Kenny Solomon Thursday, March 5th at 4:32PM EST (link)http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=washingtonstory&sid=alsJZqIFuN3k
Of course, the insolvency will be blamed on GWB, Cheney, Rove and Krusty The Clown.
Somebody who knows this stuff, please expand in plain language on what I know to be seriously dangerous ramifications if The FDIC goes belly-up.
Here’s my plain-lingo opinion: Me thinkest yon national tipping point is upon us.

GT350 Thursday, March 5th at 5:15PM EST (link)“Somebody who knows this stuff, please expand in plain language”
The FDIC isn’t a big deal. The feds will simply pour more taxpayer down the black hole to protect the banks. But with regard to the broader economy, there are two possible outcomes:
– Japanese-style deflation of the 1990’s. The Nikkei stock market index is still -80% down from its 1989 peaks. The Japanese propped up banks again and again, and gave the banks no incentive to sell off bad assets. The government “invested” in massive stimulus projects which created the world’s greatest roadway system, but failed to relaunch the economy. Protectionism becomes the norm, as politicians try to protect the home industry, even though industry starts shipping itself offshore (thailand, korea, taiwan, even South Carolina) to escape higher costs. The deficit is 90% of GDP (compared to the US’ 43%).
– 1970’s Carter-style stagflation. With controls on energy supply, prices simply skyrocketed and choked off growth. A confiscatory tax regime and heavyhanded regulation stifled small businesses. Good old Yankee ingeniuity was spent trying to outsmart inflation and taxes, instead of being directed at creating a better mousetrap. The president admonished people to think smaller, and accept a lower quality of life (Carter’s “Malaise” speech). Massive cuts to defense sapped the morale of armed forces, and we were held hostage (literally) by a third-rate tinpot nation.
Personally, I hope it’s the Carter scenario. We kicked Carter out after four years and benefited from a 25-year bull market once Reagan gave the country its optimism back.
Thanks GT....... One difference with the Carter scenario bumped up to today.........
Kenny Solomon Thursday, March 5th at 5:53PM EST (link)Los Tinpotos now have allot of nations on their side and I have a feeling they’ll do the nukey-nuke thing either with their own weapons or some country will give ‘em a few.

Stop saluting you fraud!
redneckjoe Thursday, March 5th at 5:33PM EST (link)I’m sure I’ll get disagreement, but my problem with the picture is I’m tired of watching Barry-O salute anyone. The Marine is saluting the office. Its his job. Barry has NO service to country, probably wouldn’t know a uniform if he woke up in one. So follow Clinton lead and simply nod your head in return. WHile he should in fact get on the ground and thank the Marine for his service to country. As a combat veteran of Army Special Forces it makes me physically ill to see this gesture coming from this man.
Take a cue from “A Few Good Men”.
“I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said “thank you,” and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest that you pick up a weapon and stand a post.”
But maybe I’m just clinging to guns and religion.

jadad Thursday, March 5th at 7:04PM EST (link)Although you DO realize (don’t you??)that the character who said that was written as an over the top psycho who sanctioned the illegal punishment of a marine that ended up dead as a result of the punishment. The character then lied about his role until goaded into the psychotically self indulgent and self incriminating “You can’t handle the truth!” rant.
Forget Jessup said it. Imagine someone else did.
Crowe Thursday, March 5th at 8:55PM EST (link)Good can come from evil. Col. Jessup broke the law through ordering an extra-judicial behavior corrective; he didn’t order Santiago’s death. Yeah, he deserved punishment for the law(s) he broke (considering the ensuing cover-up)… but the the entire quote from his testimony in that courtroom scene from which the above come is AWESOME. What precedes the above is:
He deserved punishment. Santiago probably should actually have been transferred. But the sentiments are spot on.

This is in addition to $900 million to Hamas under the guise of it going to broken down citizens in Gaza. So, yeah, some parts of the world love us. Hugo Chavez looks at you today, says, “Wow! I can’t believe it. This is cool, what’s happening to the United States. They’re following in my footprints!” Meanwhile, Barack Obama has now dissed our number-one ally, the United Kingdom, twice, first in returning the bust of Winston Churchill given to us through President Bush. That Churchill bust given to us after 9/11 was a gift to the American people, and George W. Bush was its steward, just as every president is a steward of the US Constitution. Presidents are not elected to remake the United States or its Constitution.
They swear an oath to defend it and to protect it. Obama has already forgotten. Next — actually, three disses, three acts of disrespect. The second act of disrespect was allowing the British to believe that there would be the traditional, joint press conference with all the flags in the East Room, with the press corps made up of both Brits and US reporters after the first meeting between Obama and Gordon Brown, the prime minister of the United Kingdom. It didn’t happen. UK press people — people that loved Obama in the Guardian, in the Telegraph, people in the press over there that loved Obama — are feeling dissed.
They’re feeling as though they have been disrespected. There was no joint meeting. The third diss: what do you think the gift Obama gave Gordon Brown is? It’s a traditional thing. The first time the leader of a country shows up, you give them a gift. Let me first tell you what Gordon Brown’s gift was. “Mr Brown’s gifts,” there were three, “included an ornamental desk pen holder made from the oak timbers of Victorian anti-slaver HMS Gannet, once named HMS President. Mr Obama was so delighted he has already put it in pride of place in the Oval Office on the Resolute Desk which was carved from timbers of Gannet’s sister ship, HMS Resolute.
“Another treasure given to the US President was the framed commission for HMS Resolute, a vessel that came to symbolise Anglo-US peace when it was saved from ice packs by Americans and given to Queen Victoria. Finally, Mr Brown gave a first edition set of the seven-volume classic biography of Churchill by Sir Martin Gilbert.” Now, this pen set, this pen set contains wood from the ship that Obama’s desk in the Oval Office is made of. These are well-thought-out gifts given with tremendous respect. Do you know what Obama gave Gordon Brown? Twenty-five DVDs of classic American films. Not even Blu-ray, standard definition DVDs that Gordon Brown could have purchased on Amazon or Barnes & Noble or anywhere, if he had any desire to see them.

George III receives John Adams
robert2706 Thursday, March 5th at 10:20PM EST (link)It appears the former junior senator from Illinois is unaware how distinguished statesmen conduct themselves. Perhaps his handlers should pick up a copy of John Adams the next time they stop at Blockbuster.
After the war, the United States appointed John Adams as the first ambassador to England. Despite being former enemies, John presented himself before the King with all the respect and dignity that diplomats afford each other:
“Sir, The United States of America have appointed me their Minister Plenipotentiary to your Majesty . . . It is in Obedience to their express Commands that I have the Honor to assure your Majesty of their unanimous Disposition and Desire to cultivate the most friendly and liberal Intercourse between your Majesty’s Subjects and their Citizens . . . The appointment of a Minister from the United States to your Majesty’s Court, will form an Epocha in the History of England & of America. I think myself more fortunate than all my fellow Citizens in having the distinguished Honor to be the first to stand in your Majesty’s royal Presence in a diplomatic Character . . .”
Since Obama has no shame, I will be ashamed for him…
