Open Thread: Nobelympics

This is an open thread so you can talk about anything. And if you can’t think of anything, well … I’ll give you a topic: Obama was denied the Olympics, then he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. Each is hilarious and terrible in different ways. Discuss.

Bring the funny, but keep it clean (cough speciallist cough). If you choose to post an image or photo, please properly attribute the source. I created the thread header.

We have major issues going on in our country and we have politician worried about there own pockets. I hope we can pull out of this one but afraid we may not. I am so dissapointed in our Government for the first time in my adult life. I hope we trun around before it’s too late.

      • avgamerican

There does not appear to be any virtue left in our government which reflect the words of John Adams.

This government is meant for a moral religious people. For it is inadequate for any other.

We have a secular humanist government, Voted in by an immoral society. Moral relativism always leads to tyranny.

Woodrow Wilson, who gave us the FED, income tax and imprisoned political opposition; Arafat, who murdered, starved and enslaved his own people in addition to extorting billions of dollars through money laundering and drug trafficking; Carter, worst president in US history; Algore – enough said.

While Obama could be the most undeserving person on the planet to receive any real award, if these are the types who get the NPP, then I say they chose wisely.

Also, when you look at the people who were passed over ( http://is.gd/46RXH ) – people who dedicated their lives to their cause – you get a sense for the stunning depravity of the elitist power brokers of the planet. Yeah, lets be more like the rest of the world – a majority of whom live physically in squalor and intellectually in the dark ages.

  • DONTTREADONME

I must say, when I woke up this morning and heard that Zero got the NPR, then it took me about 15 minutes to realize, wait a minute didn’t Yassar get one of these?

So, I must say, thanks for the laugh NPP committee and Zero, you have put the nail in the coffin of the relevancy of the NPP. Its about damn time, and thanks for the laughs.

You can’t make this stuff up, now its about time the comedians start running with this, because I don’t care who you are this stuff is hilarious.

    • DONTTREADONME

really, that R is no where near the P is it?

  • DONTTREADONME

Each of the 65,000 people will get a piece of that 1.4 million dollar prize and the melt down cost of the actually will give $20 to each. For those two people that begged the most or looked the most pathetic we will give them the melt down cost of the 200g of gold of ~9000..00. So, if we set up a “progressive” system we can redistribute this more appropriately based on Marx’s I mean 0′s vision.

Goe-bel rhymes with Nobel, and we often substituted Joubel (pronounced Zho-bel.

I enjoyed a many of this fine European ale back then. OK, it was bottom of the barrel Stroh’s and it fit the high school budget.

On that score as well, she would once again be better qualified than BHO, as she’s actually written something. My copy of Going Rogue was pre-ordered yesterday – I can hardly wait.

The whole world must be laughing. What a phoney. This is surreal. The sad thing is many are laughing at all the dumb a$$es that elected this boob. Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha! Can’t believe my lyin eyes and ears! Jump in conservatives and repubs, here is another opening.

  • http://www.redstate.com/tnjim TNJim

for promoting false science, I have to say it really didn’t surprise me that they would eventually award it to someone who did nothing. Since nominations were closed in February, naturally Obama qualified on that criteria. Even the Chairman if the Nobel committee seemed to be fishing for a reason for awarding it to Obama.

    From the Telegraph:

“Only very rarely has a person to the same extent as Obama captured the world?s attention and given its people hope for a better future,? said Thorbjoern Jagland, the Nobel committee chairman.

He made it clear that the award was intended as an encouragement to the president and a nudge to other world leaders to follow the American?s lead.

?We hope this can contribute a little bit to enhance what he is trying to do,? he said.

    [snip]

Former winner Mairead Corrigan Maguire, who won the prize in 1976 with fellow campaigner Betty Williams for organising peace marches in Northern Ireland, said the award was ?very sad?.

I just think it’s par for the course for the Nobel committee of late.

      Also from the Telegraph:

President Obama remains the barely man of world politics, barely a senator now barely a president, yet in the land of the Euro-weenies (copyright PJ O?Rourke) the great and the good remain in his thrall. To reward him for a blank results sheet, to inflate him when he has no achievements to his name, makes a mockery of what, let?s face it, is an already fairly discredited process (remember Rigoberta Menchu in 1992? Ha!). That?s not the point. What this does is accelerate the elevation of President Obama to a comedy confection, which he does not deserve, and gives his critics yet another bat to whack him with. Shame on the Swedes Norwegians*. He should turn it down, even if he does look great in white tie and tails.

But, he didn’t turn it down. Mr. Brogan, did you really expect him to?

      • WarEagle01

I had almost forgotten about Rigoberta Menchu. The thing is, even with her fake past, she was still more deserving of the NPP than Barry.

They rated Norway as the best nation in the world to live. According to the article, Iran was one of the “biggest climbers” in their ranking, and Venezuela got a big boost for its education improvement.

  • gurdyourloins

I was guessing this was over how many people could you get to line up for obama bucks and let them realize “you got punked” Guess not!

  • DONTTREADONME

oh wait, the fish tends to get a little perturbed at times, but then again it has done more than 0bama and its fun to say.

    I particularly like these comments**:

Maybe this is why Chicago didn’t get the Olympics — the IOC didn’t want the spectacle of seeing gold medals handed out before the events are even started.

Mr Cohen forgot to mention the one truly outstanding decision that highlights President Obamas commitment to non-violent (peaceful) solutions to conflicts; the refusal to meet with that warmonger, the Dalai Lama.

*Warnings: Article contains gratuitous Palin abuse.

** Many of the comments indicate a new mutation of BDS. Apparently criticism of The Big 0 now consigns one to the BushHitlerHaliburton ranks. And of course there’s the inevitable comment blaming the Joooooooooooos!

of the sinking of the Titanic in 1911, James Cameron is going to release an updated version of his movie “Titanic.” The one change: Barack Obama will replace Leo DiCaprio on the bow proclaiming “I’m the King of the World!” Obama will then receive a retro-active Oscar for his performance.

    • spacecoastconservativedotcom

While listening to his acceptance speech after the announcement of his Nobel Peace Prize, I heard a sentence that just caught my attention and wouldn’t let go. I looked up the text of the speech to make sure I had heard it properly. I had. So I wrote a blog about it — and about the idea of him being “King of the World.” You can read my blog here.

I understand that Acorn stuffed the application box with Mickey Mouse, Tony Romo and Santa Claus. I guess ya gotta go with the Prez.

Rush Limbaugh also announced yesterday on his suberb broadcast that Obama was also declared the winner of the 2000 Florida Recount and he will be recieving an Emmy for his performance on Letterman. The Prez is on a roll!!!

I am in the middle of flyover country. Actually the very heart of it. We can carry guns and do so.

I try to cruise the Lib/Progressive sites from time to time. The idea is to inform myself as to the next move of the mentioned idiots. I invite you readers to cruise the Open Left site.

The most appropriate description of these folks reminds me of a comment William Shatner made at a Trekkie Conference. To wit…..”my god, get out of the basement!” You will note that there are some main posters that lead this bunch. They appear to be at least semi-pro election workers. A lot of the commenters appear to have left their activity at computer games to tune in the site periodically. Sometimes I give them a shot. I just cant resist.

Take a cruise and watch how the wheels are starting to come off the tracks. The latest proposal that I’ve seen …..is to run as their own party because the Democrats aren’t doing what they should. Income redistribution legislation has obviously been proposed in some circles and these folks that play for a living are all for it. Well have fun…….cheers!

So, the tea partier protest is downplayed by the “tens of thousands” and the gay rights marched is buoyed by the “tens of thousands” characterization. Well, there you have it, the Tea Party protest = Gay Rights Movement, Thanks you tea partiers have just been marginialized.
