MEMBER DIARY

Michael Moore To Boycott Constitution

On Twitter today, Jake Tapper points to a Michael Moore tweet, screencapped below:

Certainly there is some humor in the idea of a Michael Moore-led boycott of an entire state as being anything the state would notice, but it gets even funnier when you realize how ignorant the outrage industry on the left really can be. For example, take at look at this excerpt from document (embedded below the fold) titled “Recall of Legislators and the Removal of Members of Congress from Office,” which I originally found, delightfully, at Lieberman.Senate.Gov:

As to removal by recall, the United States Constitution does not provide for nor authorize the recall of United States officers such as Senators, Representatives, or the President or Vice President, and thus no Member of Congress has ever been recalled in the history of the United States.

Oh, but it gets better still. Read on …

Look again at the screen cap. Twitter’s new retweet feature shows at least 60 retweets at the time of the capture. There are many, many more using the old manual system too. Incurious repetition of a demagogue by lefties? How … commonplace.

What’s even better is Moore has an article at his own website, a repost of a Politico article, featuring a Connecticut state legislator calling for Lieberman’s ouster. The article, on Moore’s own website, points out that recall is not possible under the constitution.

Is there anyone on this planet quicker to claim the constitution is being violated at every turn than Michael Moore and his groupies? So yes, to state the obvious, it’s hilarious that he’s so quick to dismiss as conveniences him.

We all know Moore is a clown, so this isn’t breaking news. But I never pass on the chance to point out the stupidity of inexplicably influential jackasses. See the full document on recalling Senators below:

Then blow it out of your ample posterior and see if it sticks to the ceiling! Connecticut should hope Mikey and his merry morons boycott their state. They got such good press back when Jane Hamsher hung around with Ned Lamont.

    • farstar99

What a complete pooh-pie Moore is.

      How do you boycott Connecticut?

      They don’t produce anything!

It’s a parasite, like most eastern states. It exists on the backs of taxpayers in the rest of the country. Their only export is Communist legislators!

And really, if Moore’s Communist crowd couldn’t get the ObamaCare they wanted, are we supposed to believe they could make a dent on this?

      • Next93

…and patronize every “all-you-can-eat” restaurant promotion in the state, resulting in a famine across the entire Eastern seaboard.

        • http://www.helpawhiteguy.com livefreenh

If he went to all of the “All you can eat” places in CT it would simply require another bailout. Problem solved.

though you could do worse to put the poo-poo on all that Liberalism stands for by giving Michael Moore-on films, including “Capitalism” to expose the joke the thoughts/policies are!!! Wait until you find them in the Dollar bin though to purchase or point them to Internet locations they can see most of the films online.

      • izoneguy

And send them to every major distributor and theatre chain.

MM will end up showing his putrid films on the net for free.

Oh, yeah – I forgot – he had to do that with one of his films…..

His last flick: “Capitalism: A Love Story – bombed
Domestic Total as of Dec. 14, 2009: $14,360,603

American Carol film – now on DVD ;-) . And, of course, Stein’s “Expelled” – which a local Republican Club gave out to all attendees of the Christmas party (very good idea).

I love how Moore can’t waste a moment to type out the word “to” but instead uses the numeral 2. I don’t text message but on some setups you actually have to push the 2 button four times to get to the numeral. At any rate I laugh at the extra effort to spell something incorrectly.

Moore is on to something – I like the idea of adding an amendment to the Constitution permitting recall of some federal officials. He should have pitched it that way. Sheesh.

First off you have to consider how lose the requirements would be to start a recall, then you have to think about how fickle the people can be. Recall of Senators and Representatives is a classic Progressive tactic to move closer to direct democracy. Allowing them to further discount the republic side of our form of government isn’t worth it. The 17th amendment undercut the States influence via the Senate and allowing recalls would undercut that even more, leaving nothing but the Federal leviathan to rule over all. No thanks.

      • nolan

today. They are trying to overhaul their ballot-laws and one reason stated was that since no elected official can hold two consecutive terms, there is no accountability. I believe term limits are something that this country needs, as the career politicians are inept at best and destroying this country at worst.
I disagree that ‘recall’ would lead to a direct democracy (I am most assuredly not ‘progressive”), since people aren’t voting on each issue via majority rule, but recall would be used to yank an official who did a 180 upon entering office. It would be the only way to ensure accountability if term limits were enacted. The process could be stringent, and I don’t know how CA’s works, but it seems as it worked to oust Grey Davis. Electing the governator might not be a ringing endorsement, but point being, the people imposed their will on a man who failed them. It should not be taken lightly, but wouldn’t you like to oust oibama right about now?

      • tankertodd

In the sense that a House of Representatives is up for election every 2 years theoretically you shouldn’t need a recall – a recall movement would probably take a year alone to start up! The Senate is designed to guard against the passion of the people so a recall would undercut that.
Turnover of the HRis so pitifully low that one should focus on that first.

    • http://www.helpawhiteguy.com livefreenh

He just works with people who are. If he were to spell out his words, many of his followers would have their attention span expire.

  • nateleyswhore

Michael Moore, the big, fat, overgrown sixth-grader gob of liberal goo, is about to get all misty on us once again.

Ever occur to anyone else that liberals are such great propagandists because they are shoveling pure crap???

  • ericstenner

go anywhere without at least part of him being in Connecticut.

    • charpaddy

      You are SO right, ericstenner.

I really did laugh out loud when I read your comment.

      TOUCHE!

Michael Moore is a total douchebag.

    • tankertodd

Is to stand over afflicted areas of the country and let his shading effect do the work. Downside: he’s rather gassy.

      • redt

His rather ample shadow may cool one area just fine, but his emmissions may more than offset that!!

    • http://www.helpawhiteguy.com livefreenh

Or more precisely, a Eulerian Circle, would be a good way to diagram Michael Moore and Connecticut, thereby illustrating Eric’s point.

That is, if you were looking at Michael Moore using Google Earth.

And I say this with all due respect to Euler (I don’t want to be banned).

  • donnylatenight

It’s not like he is a member of congress ….they all know their terms of service…

    Whoops

posted on Redstate of much more interest to me than Michael Moores opinion.
The last time that jackass was on Hannity tsk-tsking him about the spirit of our forefathers when writing the Constitution I could have cheerfully knocked his dumb ass right off his chair. I normally pay him zero mind, but completely lost my temper that night.

  • charpaddy

considered to be the party of tolerance and inclusiveness.

Why in the world does ANYONE pay attention to the corpulent, adipose, brain-dead and idiotic Michael Moore?

Would wonder that anyone would get close to him….I would be afraid he would eat me. He sure looks like he has entirely EATEN some people.

SUCK IT LIBS!!! I am loving this. Get the popcorn!

  • Leopard1996

When he gets his money out of his tax shelters and starts his own hospital to treat the uninsured for free, then he can get back to me.

  • aelie

All he does is to mobilize his mindless droid army to strike at the Senate, in order to gradually enslave the entire nation.

Wait. Haven’t I heard this story somewhere?

  • conservativegeorgian43

“Why in the world does ANYONE pay attention to the corpulent, adipose, brain-dead and idiotic Michael Moore?”

That’s my question, too? Why is every word of his reported so avidly? Who cares what the jerk thinks – except for communistic, America-hating allies?

  • debbieh

but wouldn’t it be a huge statement to hold Reid accountable ( he is the leader) and shut down Las Vegas?

    • Vegas_Rick

A lot of us here in Las Vegas are doing everything we can to get rid of Dingy Harry. Let’s not get stupid and put us all out of work, hey?

      • debbieh

and that’s why I’m not a big boycott booster. I hope you’re successful in getting rid of him and if threat of boycott helps…maybe book 2011 conventions contingent on his replacement. Same with San Francisco. Reid and Pelosi need to recognize they hold a leadership position responsible to all of the people in spite of their direct electorate’s bad judgment.

    • mustango

      nt

    • charpaddy

I say get the guys from the Pawn Stars show to represent Las Vegas. The Old Man would be an excellent Senator. So would Rick.

They ROCK. I also think that they are bringing a lot of good publicity to Las Vegas. And given that the idiot POTUS threw LV and Orlando under the bus (shouldn’t have conventions at places where you can actually ENJOY yourself)

Such a pity about Harry Reid…NOT. At least you don’t have a QUITTER named Mel Martinez as your Senator (now we have some guy who is warming the seat for Crist….or….maybe not…tee hee)

  • mutantone

The 18 states allowing for recall are as follows: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Georgia, Idaho, Kansas, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, Nevada, New Jersey, North Dakota, Oregon, Rhode Island, Washington and Wisconsin.

    • Karina

He’d be first on my list!

    • Repair_Man_Jack

Hmm….Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Georgia, Idaho, Kansas, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, Nevada, New Jersey, North Dakota, Oregon, Rhode Island, Washington and Wisconsin.

There seems to be a state missing here. Wait a minute, wait a minute, ah yes, Connecticut.

    • Caleb Howe

It’s not possible to recall a senator in the united states. Period. State laws attempting to put in place recall procedures or term limits have been overturned by the supreme court. Can’t be done.

Even Moore finally clued in: http://twitter.com/MMFlint/status/6750008097

    • Streiff

Congress, not the states, controls this the tenure of federal officials. Recall applies to state officials. Don’t believe everything you find on the internet.
