MSNBC’s David Shuster on Presumption of Innocence

David Shuster on Nidal Hasan and the Fort Hood shootings:

David Shuster on James O’Keefe and Mary Landrieu’s office:

Now you may be thinking to yourself, well, I’m sure he had more to say about Hasan than that. Well that’s true. He did have one more thing to add …

He took the opportunity to take a partisan shot:

And then you may be thinking, well one shot as a reply to someone really isn’t that bad. Two tweets about Hasan, one about O’Keefe .. no big. Right?

Behold:

Oh and if you’re curious, on the air today, he referred to O’Keefe as having attempted to wiretap. Not “allegedly”. And I do so wonder if he can show us where in the affidavit they refer to attempted wiretapping? Probably not.

Does David Shuster care more about James O’Keefe filming ACORN than Nidal Hasan murdering Americans? Well … let’s just say the word allegedly and leave it at that.

Stay classy, Davey.

Whatever O’Keefe did in LA is irrelevant. He flat out busted ACORN and exposed them for the cirminal enterprise that they are. If O’Keefe went on a 50 state killing spree it still would not change the fact that ACORN was corrupt and did not deserve Federal funding.

And the hypocrisy of coverage is staggering. O’Keefe’s ACORN investigations didn’t get picked up my MSNBC for over 10 days after airing on FOX. Now all of a sudden everything O’Keefe does is newsworthy.

    Two faced, double standard, hyppocrites.

  • justicefin

to actually do their job and investigate ACORN and government officials who make back ground deals with them.

that someone will vouch for the veracity of one those being held(James Fanagan) and that all of those will Lawyer up. I’m guessing that this case is going to be fairly phony when you get down to it. The LA Donks are attempting to blame the LA Republicans for it(it seems that David Vitter is main target but I think might grasping at straws). With all this, I’m happy for having Twitter and more importantly importantly @paustin110 as one to follow. Give it a good week and everything will be over.

so he can join the think-tank…

pretend that he actually is a journalist. Sympathizing with a mass murderer and then immediately condemning someone else to prison for trespassing. I’ll never understand that kind of bizarre behavior so common to liberals like Slippery.

I love these people who claim that being a journo is a profession. Being a CPA is a profession. Anyone with pen and paper and some info is a journo.

The fact the tallons are out is indicative of the fact that these journos are threatened by a real oldschool investigative journo.

who he is so their PATHETIC viewership can follow the bouncing ball..heh!

Hey David Schuster #1 YOU ARE NOT A JOURNALIST #2 your time in the shadow of 90K viewers will come to a close and you shall be shunned and mocked as the IMPOTENT MALE that you are (btw Viagra cannot fix your problem)

He is a scumbag who’s first instinct is to protect a murdering terrorist, and to assume guilt and applaud the arrest of a young man who has done more real journalism than all of the MSM in the last ten years.

Now, I think the kid probably screwed up real bad, but Shuster is not really angry about Landrieu, he is still angry because Acorn was revealed to be a pack of evil liars. JUST LIKE HIM!

I have been writing, throughout last year, many (mostly Republicans, but a few Democrats on Security related Committees) basicly the following….

Tired of hearing the “Richard Reid was Tried as Civilian” distortion

That was BEFORE the 9/11 Commission, before the Military Tribunals discussions and LEGISLATION, SCOTUS rulings, etc?

WE KNOW BETTER NOW AND HAVE THE BETTER OPTION but the MSM plays up the nonsensical argument anyway?.

What would be best would be to AMEND the Tribunal Legislation to clearly delineate that ?ACTS OF TERRORISM;? and spell out ?attempts to Hi-Jack and/or blow up an Airliner? and what-ever else, if need be; will be turned over the Tribunal System. Of course, they won?t do that BUT Republicans (and Joe Lieberman) should be calling for this!!!!

CHANGE THE TRIBUNAL LAWS…. Make it LAW that these folks SHALL BE DEEMED ILLEGAL ENEMY COMATANTS and turned over to the Military for detaining and questioning and Tribunal — if the Military Tribunals don’t think they “qualify” they should have Legal Authority to kick them back out to Civilian Authorities and Courts ONLY THEN!!!

There is ZERO EXCUSE for Republicans to not be taking a much more POWERFUL stance on this issue and demand changes in Law rather than just whining in front of cameras about it!!!! It is about time we see some REAL ACTION out of our side!!!!!!

  • tankertodd

The results of this are so brilliant so far with respect to Shuster that I have to wonder if O’Keefe is fooling us all re: these charges, versus just fooling ACORN.

Shuster cares deeply about Hasan and Islamist fascist mass murders but will immediately convict and bury an American who is a political opponent? That leads me to think that Hasan is to Shuster politically neutral or perhaps even a political ally? Sounds crazy but Glenn Beck painted the picture in his documentary that there is little daylight between fascists and socialists and communists. Perhaps Hasan’s motives please Shuster and other liberals on some sort of hidden or subconscious level?

Sounds crazy, let me adjust my tin foil hat.

They may not have signed a treaty but they both use the same multi-cultural, diversity above-all-else, hate crime bullcrap. There will be an eventual falling out when, if, they ever seize total power. There will be alot of battles for the upper power levels if that ever happens. The progressives have allied themselves with the “return the human race to the dark ages” enviro-wackos, fundamentalist islam, the “selective breeding for the human race” fem-nazi’s and abortion supporters… They are all happy to work together until they reach the point where they can start stabbing each other in the back.

  • RedBeard

Can’t get any traction with his other rantings, so this O’Keefe deal now becomes his desperation cause celebre.

Add to that the fact that Shuster’s unstable stablemate at MSNBC, Chrissy Matthews, is getting a brand new tingle up his leg over this story,

Put Bathtub Boy Olbermann into the mix, and it’s rather like three giddy members of the high school Cool Girls Club trashing some other girl who isn’t cool enough to join.

    • E Pluribus Unum

      I think it fits.

I will be ECXSTATIC to see the equivalent video they make for the notification of the cancellation of PMSNBC. I can think of all kinds of ways to add little girl Schuster into it.

Remember when liberals thought our accusations towards Michael Moore for voter fraud were childish. Seriously, their hypocracy is outrageous.

  • ofsneocon

I think his buddies that actually did it will get hard time. Statutes mentioned in the USC mention possibly 10 years (max) for fraudulently entering and 10 years (max) for wire tapping.

O’Keefe acted only as an accomplice, maybe even feloniously. I say no more than 2 years for him. And then he’ll come out with another amazing expose. It’ll probably be about how Organizing for America is actually SkyNet trying to destroy our way of life so that its sinister plans for the robot apocalypse can come to fruition.

Also, Shuster is just jealous he hasn’t done anything nearly as awesome as O’Keefe, IMO.

    • E Pluribus Unum

There better be nothing happening here.

Eric Holder will be going to jail as soon as Justice is in the hands of some people actually committed to justice.

      • Flagstaff

He is really a fishy character. Nothing about him makes sense, if you assume he’s a loyal American. Make other assumptions and he makes more sense.

        • E Pluribus Unum

          I’m going with “other assumptions”.

  • rightklik

    more Americans trust Fox News.

  • Duke

he will always, “push back twice as hard.” The thrashing ACORN got by Giles and O’Keefe never even caused them to miss a beat. In the face of their own words to the contrary, they had the guts to look America in the eye and tell us, “Ah never had sex with that woman.”

Now it seems like they’ve called on some out of work Watergate planning types to set up O’Keefe, who I’d have to speculate is probably just itching for another opportunity to hit the big time. I’m just dying to hear the whole story of this incident, but I have to guess O’Keefe’s inexperience and journalistic maturity level was used to string him along into making mistakes an older and more seasoned buck would have sniffed out and passed on by.

    Just speculation.

  • rightklik

@davidshuster a) you are no journalist b) the truth is of no interest to you c) you’re a hack d) your network is a joke http://3.ly/0xF #sgp

I’ve read some articles on this whole O’Keefe debacle, but I seem to be not understanding something. Is it explained anywhere (link?) what the impetus was for contacting the FBI, and when the FBI was contacted?

It seems odd to me that the person working in the office noticed O’Keefe using his phone to record these two men, who were wearing incredibly conspicuous outfits (over the top, really) but sent the two men to the main phone closet anyway.

Was it the worker who opened the phone closet who called the authorities? He asked for identification from Flanagan and Basel, but they said they left it in their truck. You think he’s asked them to get their id before letting them in. Reasonably, I think they would take that as a surefire sign to cut and run once they “went to go get their identification.”

Something doesn’t seem to add up in this whole story. Maybe I’m just missing it.

I am an attorney and have been reading about this story on other sites such as Paterricco’s. They were not charged with wiretaping but with a rather vague section of law that requires intent. I doubt that they can prove intent based on the know evidence and the undisputed facts.

What it appears to me and other commenters on some legal sites is that O’Keefe and companions were trying to see if Senator Landrieu’s phone system was working properly or if it had been partially shut down to avoid those calls from voters.

Depending on the phone system, the main switchboard could be photographed by the cell phone and used to show that the Senator or her staff had deliberately reduced the number of operating income service lines.

If O’Keefe and his companions don’t scare, I suspect that the charges will be quitely dropped.

..I think Landrieu and others have been using a “service” to re-direct phone calls..provable by pics/what?/beyond my exertise…

But whatcha wanna bet the pics got out of there.

If so, Yessir, the charges will be dropped, so check you local YouTube-leak.

Good show all around, God, how I love to see real “criminals” on our side fighting back against their criminals

The difference between us and you Shuster is that we will hold this fool accountable, if indeed he did act with ill-intent. That is where we differ when it comes to core-values. We have them.. You do not.

BTW, you are a spitting image of Carson Daly, but I don’t want to hurt Carson’s feeling by associating him with you… see, he actually gets some people, all-be-it a few, to watch his show… at 2am…
