High Praise, coming from you.

I've got Great Lakes Water down inside me, and I never can forget that. To see what we call 'working together' hereabouts, just gives me the Blues, and gives me some pains, every day.

Seems primal, but there you go.......

I learned today that there is a law that will limit the availability of organs for Methodist/UT Transplant Institute from Dept. of HHS. THis will also effect the only pediatric tranplant program in the tri-state area.

Methodist church is trying to fight this regulation by pleading for a waiver. Anyone interested I can forward documents I received in services today. I did not draft them and so I can't put them on Red state. I have a draft letter and an information sheet that I will email to anyone of interest. I am at earlgrey133@hotmail.com

although I agree that his error was in giving more credit to Mayor Bing than he deserved.

It is a tale of two politicians. I despised Snyder in the primaries, and was convinced he was a Manchurian Republican when he refused to fill out position questionnaires. His performance in office was far better than what I expected. Bing on the other hand is the one person I thought could save the Detroit. But on the most critical of issues--the emergency manager--he has been no better than Kwame (and in some sense he has been worse, since Bing has political credibility).

Bing is the best mayor Detroit has had in several generations, but for whatever reason---he conduct on the emergency manager issue has been very disappointing.

I am a bit further west than you (Novi) but the winds of Detroit blow far and wide. I have no plans to move, but it is hard to foresee what dramatic chain of events would be required to turn this place around in my lifetime.

{That's at 8 Mile and Telegraph Roads.} UpWind.....fortunately.
Currently the emergency manager mess is 9 appointees on a panel , chosen by The Mayor(Bing), Gov.(Snyder), state treasurer,and city council. Various and sundry financial and Governmental wizards, all.
Last week, a letter was sent out to the Gov. from Detroit's Legal Dept. stating the agreement everyone agreed to was in violation of some city law or ordinance. When looked at more focused-like, no one would own up to the authorship of said letter.
Like the children who broke the window,when asked WHO, the fingers are a -flyin'.
At the initial agreement's acceptance Michigan agreed to issue $137 million in revenue bonds to assist in Detroit's cash flow problems. {They had Zero, guys}
So Now,....Snyder owns this mess lock, stock and barrel. He got along ,and is being shoved along, like it or not.
He got suckered by people he imagined had Detroit's best interests in mind. But his imagination was limited to what he knew, and it was a whole 'nother kind of negotiation, than the ones he was used to encountering.
The people pushing back are the ones who were in the denial that got Detroit where it is. Partial 'remedies' include doubling Detroit's business tax (in the agreement) and an 8 mil increase in all property taxes, to increase P D and Fire protection(s), proposed by the Unions, and some Governmental officials.

The 'Lights Out' proposal is to make people leave certain selected areas percieved as non-salvagable. Detroit is 140 square miles big, and the empty areas are not to be approached, unless you really want to run on the edge. If an objective thinker cogitates this, how is he to believe anything other than Gov't wants criminals to do their job for them.

Consider that over 230,000 people just up and left ,from 2000, to 2010, per The Census. The relatively smart and capable voted with their feet, and wallets. The ones left are not financially able, not very bright, hope against hope, or live in certain 'Nicer' areas.
{see: MidTown}

Is there a way out, and forward? Not with this bunch. They're going to wards for city council in the next election, so it spreads out the candidates, for representation. Prior you only had to be a resident.

Is there a singular solution? Nope. The s--- has rolled downhill here for so long, that is ingrained into many psyches.
*Same-Ole' *, rules, and few alternatives are even considered, especially if Caucasians make them. {'Plantation Govenment' is the operable opposing term}

I was born here, and like a child who keeps his 'bankie', I do not want to lose this place from my sphere. It has tons of potential , and the attitude is one that many places would be envious of. (discounting those mentioned)
Maybe Barry can come here, and be 'Our Messiah'.........
